  1. Best two purchases for me, my GK Fusion 550 and my Spector Euro 4 LX. Both have been on my bucket list for a long time. Glad to finally tick them off. Also honourable mention for the NUX mighty plug pro, fantastic little gadget for rehearsing at home. Worst purchase has to go to some DR Hi beam strings. Purchased two packs and on both sets, the E string was totally dead after one rehearsal and one gig. I did contact DR to make them aware, and they said they send me a couple of 105 E strings, but nothing came of it. Maybe I’ll chase them up about that

GK Fusion 550 is about the only amp left on my bucket list now. Never heard one but I bet it sounds gorgeous.

It’s a fantastic piece of kit. I wanted one for years, ever since using one at a shared backline gig many moons ago. They just never came up used at the right time. Even this one came up when I’d not long bought an ABM 600, but I couldn’t let the opportunity slip. Best decision I’ve made.

These will be my weapons of choice this weekend. Spector Euro LX, GK Fusion 550, Barefaced Big Twin 2.

Jesus, I used this combo for the first time tonight, just blown away by how good it sounds. I have a Darkglass vintage Microtubes and a EBS Billy Sheehan signature drive pedal on my board (the original purple one), I only switched the EBS on for one song tonight, the rest of the set was just Spector, GK, Barefaced and it sounded sublime

I was looking at this, and just around the corner from me. Gorgeous bass. Well done. That’ll teach me not to act. Enjoy ☺️

I had to, it was too good not to buy 😊

Makes me want to get hold of the old Ian Hill signature bass (the PJ version) 🙂

To be honest I was very very tempted by the Euro RST in the classifieds, I loved the colour, but ultimately the want for EMG PJ pickups made me hold off for a LX

Great, what's not to like? Lovely piano black, and in my opinion a better finish than the black stain matte (which is prone to polish up in places )

Actually it has ignited my SAS to have a black Classic 5 to match my white one 😄

The drop tuner is a nice add-on I must add.

Btw, Cobalts are my fav strings as well, they sound really good on Spectors both fingerstyle and pick.

I know what you mean regarding the matte finish polishing up. I had a Bongo Stealth which ended up with a polished line across the body where my arm used to rest. I normally use DR Hi beams, but the last coupe of sets I’ve bought, the E String has died really really quickly. So I’ve been using Cobalts and really like them, glad to hear they work well on Spector basses

  7. It’s in lovely condition. I was set on a brand new Euro LX in matte black stain but this was too good not to buy. I’ll restring it with my preferred EB Cobalts and give it a couple of tweaks, it’s got Rotos on it at the moment which are lighter gauge (40-100) than I normally use, and just a little touch of string buzz on the E string, but overall I’m very happy. Less than two hour round trip and the owner was a super nice guy too.

I got my ABM 600 IV from @ern500evo last night. Got home and plugged it in. Once I'd realised that the mute button was on and and got some noise out of it, I'm well impressed.  It sounds awesome and I've just got the eq set with everything at 12. It's a huge improvement over the Orange Terror I was using, much bigger sound, clearer, nicer valve drive sound. I think I might actually be able to stop using my preamp pedal that I needed to make the Orange sound acceptable.

Can't wait to get to band practice now and crank it up loud.

Glad you like it! It’s a great amp, I’ll probably end up with another one some day

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I should have an ABM 600 IV tomorrow which I'm picking up from another member of this forum.

Can't wait to get to rehearsal and turn it up loud

I gave it a run out at rehearsal last night, just for peace of mind as it hasn’t been used for a couple of months. It sounded great, to the point I was questioning my decision to sell it! However, it’s far too nice an amp to be sat in my house as a spare,  so I’ll see you later!

The Classic does dive a little, but nothing that a decent strap or a lighter set of hipshots wouldn't sort.
Diff preamp in the Classic too. The EMG BTS.

I love both the LX and the Classic.... and both the BTS and the Tonepump. It's really down to personal choice.

I do love the idea of all maple with EMG pups and pre amp, but I think my mind is set on that matte black LX. I have an all maple NS2000, which I lent out to a ‘friend’ years ago for his daughter to learn on. It came back in a sorry state and I’ve since found out that when she got her own bass, they stored my NS in an attic, and not in any kind of case. The strings were rusty! I’ve changed strings and given the whole bass a clean up, but there’s hardly any output volume, and plugged into my headphone all I get is a high pitched squeal. So part of my thinking is, go for the LX and then upgrade the pups and pre in the NS to some better EMG’s and have two different flavours.

  11. I think my mind is pretty much set on a Euro 4 LX in matte back stain, but I do love the blue and gold finishes of the Euro classic. Just out of interest, do the classics suffer with neck dive due to the lightweight body, and do they lose anything sonically by having chambered wings?

That photo has done my bank account no favours whatsoever... I still want a Fusion 550.

I wanted one for years, they just always came up used at the wrong time. When this one came up in the for sale section here, I’d only just bought an ABM600, but I couldn’t not take the opportunity to finally own one. So glad I did, it’s a fabulous amp. The first gig I did with it was in a place with notoriously bad acoustics. I set it flat for the soundcheck and was blown away by how good it sounded. If you ever see one available second hand, jump on it, you absolutely won’t regret it!

  13. I’m more than happy with my current amp and cab. I’ve owned the Big Twin 2 pretty much since they were launched, and not once have I considered changing it. The GK Fusion is a fairly new addition. It’s a wonderful combination. Last couple of gigs I’ve done, I haven’t even engaged any pedals. Only thing I still want to add is a Spector Euro 4LX.

The fusion 550 is one I've not tried yet but have had gas since it was released then discontinued 😒

It’s a fantastic amp. I’d on just bought an ABM600 when a Fusion 550 came up for sale but, like you, I’d had gas for one for so long I just had to buy it. I really like my ABM, and I’d had a EBS TD650 just before that, but the first time I used the Fusion I was completely sold, it just sounds so good!

£300 seems a silly price for what you are getting. I love this head into my Ampeg cab 👌 , it takes everything I chuck at it.

Think mine was £480 from Andertons pre owned.

I know the bass gallery has had them around the £700 mark used, but I guess if no one's interested it's a tough one to price.

The ones that are still in the wild would more than likely have no issues by now 🤷.

Apart from being booted around by the delivery driver then fixed by Andertons I've had zero issues... And it gets a massive regular workout

I agree, £300 for a 10.1 and a 4x 10 seems crazy cheap. I think they’re also a bit of an unknown quantity. There’s not too many of them around, so a lot of people aren’t even aware of their existence. To be honest, If I didn’t love my GK Fusion 550 so much, i’d probably buy it and then just sell the cab on
