1. Hi all Just wondered what you folks use to clean and polish your treasured bass! Does anyone recommend the Meguiars Fender cleaning kit?? Thanks in advance Deaks
2. Ahh I see. Its a Geddy Lee bass I have so its just the stock pickups which are fantastic..
3. Hi Thanks for your reply. Everything else seems great I was just concerned that maybe I should be trying to fix it. How do you know if it is adjustable?
4. Hi all I wonder if anyone can tell me if the strings on a Fender Precision or Jazz bass need to be in the center of the magnets on the pickup. On my Jazz it appears that the G string and D string seem to favour the small inside magnet on the neck pickup but seem to be more in the center over the bridge pickup. Does this affect the sound or am I just bein to fussy. The bridge is a badass 2. Thanks to all Deaky
5. Just sold my Hartke LH500 to conan. A nice genuine big fella and a pleasure to do business with. Recommend him to anyone.. Enjoy the amp. Remember and come back for the cab God Bless Deak
6. Hi Steve I havent played the JB2 but I do have a L2000 Tribute and its a fantastic bass. You can get a fantastic array of tones from it. I have it strung with Labella flats and it sounds amazing. I tend to use it even more than my american deluxe pbass due to its tone and massive output. Deaky
7. Hi all Is it a good or bad idea buying a bass online? Is it best to snap up a bass cheaper online or buy it from your local guitar dealer? Also I prefer basses that are brand new and never been played by every gezzer and their granny Do online stores such as GAK and Thomann sell basses that are brand new. Lastly can you recommend any reputable online dealers. Thanks Deaky
8. Well I tried the Geddy yesterday and unfortunately I wasnt impressed. My vote would be a precision
9. Mr Geddy is the man
10. Cool Hoping to give one a go tomorrow so fingers crossed I wont be dissapointed!
11. Could you elaborate more on the neck issues you had!!
12. Lol you read my mind Chris
13.
I had one a while back & the only complaint I had was the super thin shaved neck. It would change shape in literally every weather change. I was adjusting the trussrod on an almost weekly basis & I've never had to do that on any other bass before or since. The finish on these is great, though. Lovely quality to them. Personally, for a little extra money, I'd go for the new American Standard - The extras you get are worth the outlay, as is the extra stability with the slightly thicker and graphite rod-equipped neck.
Cheers What about the pickups? I have heard that they are noisy - that true!
14. Hi all I am a big Geddy fan and I do like the look of the GL bass. Just wondered what you guys out there thought of it. Would you recommend it? What do you like or dislike! Thanks in advance for the input.. Deaky
15.
No sweat, there's one on ebay that I'm going to offer £180 +£20 postage. Sure you appreciate 6 hours driving and £70 of fuel doesn't add up. Good luck, cheers, Karl. Oh, and bump again.
BUMP
16.
I A/B-ed a Classic 70s and a Geddy Lee. They were in a similar place tone-wise but the Geddy Lee sounded a lot duller and a bit thinner - but I think this was a setup issue, the pickup heights on the GL were well off. I much preferred the feel of the Classic Series neck though, pretty much the nicest-feeling neck I've played on a Fender.
Thanks Lawrence
17.
Fender Classic basses are great. The 70s one looks the biz too. Personally I prefer the 60s set up with the pick up position (more old school than funk) but it's a great bass and a great deal too. I love the necks with the block inlays too
Yeah its a groovy looking bass. I dunno if I should wait tho and grab a Geddy Lee or get the classic instead. Would there really be any great difference in sound?
18. Hi all Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the Fender classic 70s jazz bass? Thanks in advance Stuart
19.
Thanks Deaky. Sorry, just twigged no posting. 400 mile round trip so no go I'm afraid. Good luck, Karl.
PRICE DROP BUMP £380 for head and cab. Looking for quick sale. Collection only please Cheers Deaky
20. Hi all Does anyone know if its safe to string Jazz 77 through the body or will they be liable to break!!! Thanks in advance Deak
21. *WEEKEND PRICE DROP* £400 for both cab and head.
22. Hi I recently purchased a G&L Tribute L2000 and its absolutley fantastic. Great tonal options and a brilliantly built bass for the price. Much better than many Fenders for the same price tag. I would definately recommend the G&L. Now I am gassing for an SB2 Deak
23. Hi all, Unforunately due to a number of cancelled gigs I had planned for this rig I have no choice but to put it up for sale. The rig is an Ashdown MAG 810 Cabinet which is totally brand new and has never been gigged. The head is a Hartke LH 500 and comes with cables and a durable padded cover. I am looking for £500. Pics will follow but the gear is mint. I am based in central scotland therefore I would insist on collection only.. Many Thanks Deaky
