1. Hey all, For sale is my Ibanez GWB-35 as the title would suggest. I'm having to give up playing bass due to a shoulder injury, I just get bad pains around the rotor cuff, tried all the exercises etc. The bass is in good condition, it's not been played a whole lot. Got a few minor signs of wear on the fingerboard which is made from Ebonol, a man-made resin that feels like glass to the touch and gives plenty of 'mwah'. There's a bit of buckle rash on the back, again, minor signs of use. They're purely cosmetic, the bass plays and sounds great, engineers love it. Such a punchy sound and very transparent. It's a 34" scale 5 string fretless bass in matte black, very light weight as it's made from basswood with a maple neck. Balances very nicely. I'll throw in the nice padded strap as well, there are strap locks on the bass and strap so it won't fall off. 2 band active circuit, bass and treble boost/cut. I'm asking for about half the price on Gak, who are notoriously good on price which seems a fair number. Here's some photos of the bass: http://s178.beta.photobucket.com/user/6stringbassist/library/Ibanez%20GWB35 And here's a video of someone playing the same model. The bass for sale is completely stock, as is the one in the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxYlfeyIpqc Here's a link explaining the 'ramp' on the bass to anyone unfamiliar with Mr Willis. Check his site out, he's a truly phenomenal musician and teacher and bass player and composer etc etc etc. Loads of free info and tools on there, like his sight reading trainer! I'd prefer someone to come and try this bass out before buying it and also not risking postage, you know how careless some of them are with packages and I'd hate for it to turn up to someone broken. I will post it if you have the money, postage will be on top and I have no idea how much it'll cost. You'll probably have to choose the shipping company etc and one that'll cover the full value of the bass as well. I'm new to all the shipping stuff. As I said, pickup preferred. If you wish to pay by cheque, it'll have to clear before I'll post the bass. I'll be putting up some other gear for sale tomorrow. It's no use to me with a knackered shoulder. Not in a massive hurry to sell any of the gear, but first one with the cash gets the goods, it's only fair. Please, be sure to check with your wives before buying! I live in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, about 30 mins North- East of Bristol. Come try the bass out. I'll also be selling: - Markbass CMD 102P combo bass amp, 300 watts, 2x10 speakers and a tweeter. It's the same as this one and I'll sell it for £650, again, collection preferred. Good condition, very light weight and engineers love it. Very versatile amp. It's LOUD by the way and sounds fantastic. Here is the same model amp on Gak new, so I'll take £650: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/mark-bass-cmd-102p/4281?gclid=COX57JD01rQCFW_KtAodjX4Ahw - I've got a pair of Yamaha HS80m active monitor speakers, 8-inch speaker with tweeters, they've not been used much either, still in great condition, pretty much as new, I think I still have the boxes as well. They sell for £204 EACH on Gear4Music, £408 for a pair. I'll sell them as a pair for £280. They're loud, very transparent and are very 'honest' speakers. They have great bass on them too. Here they are on Gear4Music: http://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Yamaha-HS80M-Active-Monitor-Each/6JG - Squier Dirnt P bass in white. I'll take £175 for it, lovely bass, rock solid and great sounding workhorse. Very good condition. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/squier-mike-dirnt-precision-bass-arctic-white/20754 Again, I live in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, about 30 mins North- East of Bristol. Welcome to try the gear out and see for yourself which bit(s) you'd like.
2. Sorry all, This bass was sold last year, for some reason I had two threads up on this bass so apologies!
3. ********* SOLD ************* I'm having to sell my discontinued 6 string Ken Smith Burner (similar to the one Hadrien Feraud plays) as I've got too many basses and this one doesn't get played nearly enough to warrant owning it. I tried to sell this one a while back but ran into some bad luck with both the buyer and me having someone crash into our band vans in the same week. I've never known sod's law to be that harsh before. The bass was in my house, not in the van which is lucky, I had my cheap workhorse bass in the van which was fine. So I'm trying to sell this bass now I've got some more free time again. As expected for a bass of this age, it's not without a few tiny cosmetic signs of use. I've photographed the couple of miniscule dings. The "Ken Smith" logos on the pickups have almost completely worn off, and there's some wear on the pickups from the B string. One of the pickup screws has been replaced with a similar one. A couple of the control knobs have a few tiny white dots on, but all work perfectly. There's the tiniest amount of buckle rash that's only visible at the right angle from the light as well. There is nothing at all mechanically wrong with the bass. I had the frets done at Chandlers (Kingston) with their plek machine about a year ago, which files down the frets to within a 0.001mm accuracy or something insane. They then finish it off by hand and the results are incredible. You can have the action ridiculously low, without dead frets or buzzing. It cost £135 to have done excluding strings and was worth every penny. I play very lightly, so it's basically as awesome a fret job as it was a year ago. Specs are: -Ash body -34" scale with an amazing B string -6 strings -Maple neck -Two humbuckers -Active circuit with master volume, pickup pan, bass, treble and push pull the volume pot for true passive bypass -24 frets (2 octaves) -16mm string spacing -Strap locks I'm asking £650 for this bass plus postage. I'll use UPS unless you know of a cheaper alternative. If you require international shipping, we can come to an arrangement. I've never posted a bass internationally before, and I could post it in a hard case inside the padded cardboard box for a bit more money just to ensure it arrives safely. With the hard case, I'll sell the bass for £720. I will also throw in a gig bag and wide adjustable nylon strap with the bass. If you come and pick the bass up, it'll be £620. Please don't make me any offers on this bass, as it's worth at the very least a couple of hundred more than I'm selling it for. I just want to sell the bass for a fair price so someone can get some use out of it, because it's been sat in it's case for a while now. I've seen a blue on go on ebay for £900 a couple of years back. You're more than welcome to come and try the bass out for yourself; I'm based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, about 30 minutes North of Bristol along the M5. I will accept direct transfer, Paypal or cash on collection, no cheques. I will post or ship the bass once payment has cleared. I've not seen one of these basses for sale in quite a while now, they're pretty rare. Grab yourself a bargain while you have the chance! I won't hold the bass for anyone, first buyer with the cash takes it.
4. Thanks Tom, I'm in the process of trying to sell a bass, and was apprehensive about putting the beauty in the post. Thanks for the packing and postage advice!! Will come in handy.
5. Hey all, the bass has been sold. Thanks for your interest!
6. It really is a lovely instrument. It's worth a bit more than I'm selling it for, but you see some instruments sitting on adverts for months, even years in some cases. I'd rather get a bit less and have someone else enjoy making music on it. Again, I'm really gutted to have to sell it, so it'd better go to a good home. =P
7. **THIS BASS HAS BEEN SOLD** Hey all, I'm having to sell my discontinued 6 string Ken Smith Burner (similar to the one Hadrien Feraud plays) as I can no longer afford to keep it alongside my main bass - Ibanez GWB-35. I'm in the process of taking up guitar and as a result, saving for a Telecaster. It's been a fantastic axe, very well looked after and now needs a new home. It cost £135 to have done excluding strings and was worth every penny. I play very lightly, so it's basically as awesome a fret job as it was a year ago. Specs are: -Ash body -34" scale with an amazing B string -6 strings -Maple neck -Two humbuckers -Active circuit with master volume, pickup pan, bass, treble and push pull the volume pot for true passive bypass -24 frets (2 octaves) -16mm string spacing -Strap locks I'm asking £600 for this bass, posted in England. I will also throw in a gig bag and wide adjustable nylon strap with the bass. If you pick the bass up, it'll be £550. You're more than welcome to come and try the bass out for yourself; I'm based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, about 30 minutes North of Bristol along the M5.
8. HERE ARE THE PICTURES OF IT http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/6s...ass%20POD%20XT/ Selling for £70 posted in the UK. I've not used the pod live, only for studio work as my audio interface and soundcard. It's been great, used for all the recordings I've done. It's great condition, a 9/10. On the back there's a couple of scratches you can see in the photos. There's one scratch on the front, only a very thin one which was there when I bought it brand new a couple of years ago. I've tried to show it in the pictures, just above the "Drive" knob on the front, but even when it catches the light it's not that noticeable. In summary, everything works fine on here, only minor cosmetic wear due to being used at home. It's still in very good condition. Never been dropped either. Comes with original box, USB cable, manual etc. Postage to the UK is included in the £70 price. If you live outside the UK, postage can be arranged on top of the £70
9. Ah sorry, give that one a try. Posted it in place of the original link. Here it is again http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/6s...ass%20POD%20XT/
10. I prefer to set up my basses myself, that way I can have it exactly the way I want and save a bit of cash. Recently put my bass into a very well respected shop for a fret job and setup. Fret job was perfect, the setup not what I had in mind. I ended up having to set the action and intonation myself again to suit my playing. Gary Willis has a great setup guide on his website: http://garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/setupmanual.html Check out Gary Willis' ramp too, it's an awesome concept. I use a ramp all the time now and it's made things a lot easier. Hope this helps, J

Reasons for sale: -I have another audio interface/sound card and as I only record bass DI now, I don't need the sounds the pod offers, although they do sound great. I'm a Gary Willis fan and use my technique to make different tones. -I'm saving for a fretless bass as I don't have one. Because I study bass for my degree, I need to be able to play fretless
12. Hi, I play a Ken Smith Burner 6 with 16mm spacing at the bridge. I slap using Mark King's right arm position. His forearm runs almost parallel to the strings and he wears his bass fairly high up as I do which makes a lot of things easier. I have seen people slapping on narrow 5's with their hands perpendicular to the strings. There's no right or wrong by any means. Just for me personally, I found it easier the way Mark King does it. He uses 16.5mm spacing btw. Hope this helps, and happy slapping!
13.
Post it, you'll have a sale in no time and if you wrap it well then there's very little chance of damage. Use www.interparcel.com and it'll cost you about a tenner.
Cool, thanks! Will post it. Anyone interested?
14. I will post it if needs be, I was just a bit worried about it getting damaged or lost in transit.
15.
Sure you aren't willing to post it?
Yeah, I could post it. Not sure what postage would be, I need to get the thing weighed after it's been padded inside another box. If anyone could link me to the best parcel company, that'd be much appreciated and I'll post it. Thanks Joe
16.
Would this work as a headphone amp - i.e. does it have a headphone out & an input for an ipod, cd player, etc? I'm afraid that I am unfamiliar with bass pods (thru I believe that the bass floor pod does can be used in this way)
Hi Pete, I think you'd need a 2 into 1 jack if you were going to use an Ipod or anything else plugged in at the same time as your bass. It does have a headphone output. Or if you hook the bass pod up to your computer, you can set the bass pod as your sound card via the USB ports and run music from Itunes through it and use the headphone out on the POD and hear the bass and your music.
17. http://line6.com/basspodxt EDIT: I will post the pod, £80 for the pod + Postage & Packaging on top. Selling my bass pod for various reasons: -My laptop was 5 years old and broke down recently. Won't start in safe mode or anything. I bought another laptop with Windows 7, but as it's such a new operating system there aren't any drivers for it. There are drivers for Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Mac OSX. Apparently it was a year before Vista drivers were released and as I'm doing a degree in electric bass, I can't wait until the drivers are released. I have recordings to do and with no set date for drivers being released, I can't afford to wait. -I have another audio interface/sound card and as I only record bass DI now, I don't need the sounds the pod offers, although they do sound great. I'm a Gary Willis fan and use my technique to make different tones. -I'm saving for a fretless bass as I don't have one. Because I study bass for my degree, I need to be able to play fretless. I'm also selling my Ibanez SR506 to fund it. See my other topic posts.
18. For sale is my Ibanez SR506 that has an amazing Schack circuit, low action and stunning looks! HERE ARE THE PICTURES http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/6s...Ibanez%20SR506/ I'm asking EDIT: price lowered to £370, for this bass. I feel this is a fair price given the money I've spent on it and how well it plays and sounds. It really is in the same league as a lot of basses more than three times the price. I'm based in Guildford near London or Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. I'd like cash on collection and it's pickup only. I don't want to post the bass in case it got damaged, lost etc. It comes with a soft case. I have a Markbass amp, and you're welcome to bring your own amp if you want to try the bass through that as well. If you're serious about the bass, feel free to come and try it out. The Schack circuit alone was £190 excluding installation. They're an amazing German custom shop brand for those who don't know. Altogether I've spent around £300 on the bass so it plays brilliantly, sounds amazing and competes with custom shop basses. It really does sound and feel fantastic for anyone looking for a super-agile instrument. First off, why am I selling it? I want a fretless bass and I already have another 6 string. I'm a big fan of Gary Willis and going to get his GWB-35 signature bass. I don't want to risk converting my SR506 into a fretless in case it goes wrong, and I wouldn't be able to use it or sell it. So I'd rather sell it as a fretted to someone that would use it more than I do. It's a really smart looking bass in good condition. There's a tiny bit of bucklerash on the back, and a few tiny dings on the bass that aren't noticeable unless you hold it up to the light. Nothing worth moaning about, I just don't want to be accused of not pointing anything out. It's been gigged a few times although it's mainly been a second bass to my Ken Smith Burner 6. I've always had the bass in a hard case when it's not being played at gigs so it has been looked after, as with all the basses I've had. The Ibanez has stayed at home in a case for a while now. The Smith has even closer spacing and a more oldschool sound ideal for the music I play. The Ibanez has a more modern punchy and crisp sound and sits perfectly in the mix. Great for slap bass too both tonally and playability. It's a really great workhorse for someone looking at gigging with it a lot. Feels lighter than my Fender Jazz Bass! If I had more money, I'd love to keep this bass, but as a student I don't have a choice. I'm studying electric bass for my degree and I really need to be able to play fretless too as it involves a much stricter "fretting" hand. Intonation is a big deal with it. -The control cavity has been routed out to be slightly bigger to fit in an extra battery - it has three! Although you can run it off one, two or three batteries, three will last longer as less power is taken from each. I've had the same batteries since the circuit was installed at Rikkaxe in Bristol 3 years ago. A new back cover was made so the whole cavity is covered. Only enough space for one more battery was needed so there was no change in tone. -Setup was also done at Rikkaxe in Bristol so the action could be low as you like. Alternatively, if you prefer medium or higher action I could change it before you try it out. Intonation I check regularly and keep it set right. -The body was drilled for the first ramp that was flat, so there are two tiny screw holes that I'll be filling in before selling. These are covered by the new radiused ramp made from African Ebony wood. -Black chrome hardware. -Active/Passive modes. -16.5mm string spacing at the bridge. -Slim and fast playing neck. -Light weight body, really comfortable to play especially for long gigs, rehearsals or studio work. -Great in the studio, engineers love it! No hiss or any other noise. The humbuckers are great, Bartolini Mk1's. They have a very natural sound and respond to the way you play amazingly as they are passive pickups. -The Schack circuit has a trim pot for adjusting the overall gain when on active mode. For each EQ band, there is a control for adjusting the frequency peak so you can choose the frequencies that sound best for your sound! -Mahogany body, with wenge and bubinga neck. Rosewood fingerboard with abalone oval inlays.
19. Almost 2 months on and STILL no pics?! I just want to see the thing!
20. Lower action is definitely easier, depending on how low you want to make it. Could drop a string guage too if it suits ya. You shouldn't be forcing your way through the string, it's just about training the muscle memory to the point where it just happens. It's like any other technique, once it's second nature, it'll sound really smooth. I however am not at that stage xD I only wanted to go as far as using the technique on a fill to mix things up a bit. Might have a bash at a couple of Wooten's easier tunes sometime. Setup of the bass is really important though. Action should be lower so less force is needed to bring the string into contact with the fret. I've seen guys trying to DT with action like 6mm with minimal results. Everyone has their own way of doing it, hand position and what not. Just find the way that feels best for you!
21. The standard 4 and 5 ash models have a tone similar to a jazz bass only more balls to it! The 4 and 5 bubinga models are much more growly with balls, they have a real jaco growl. Either one cuts through the mix brilliantly. The 6 string bubinga sounds again, growly with more balls, depends whether or not you wanted a 6 though. I'm looking at getting the ash 5 active model for my workhorse bass, it's a neutral looking instrument with great all round useable tones.
