1. For sale:

    Moen Loop-1 Dual Looper

Moen Loop-1 at the Moen website

True bypass looper with two loops, boxed and in as new condition. Very useful for those pedals you have that are not true bypass and which suck your tone away.

I'm giving up on pedals and this is yours for £25 inc postage.

EDITED for price reduction - and this is my last offer before the bay. So there.

  2. For sale:

    Malekko Heavy Industries Barker B:Assmaster.

Ten months old but boxed and as new except for the velcro I stuck on the bottom and one or two tiny scratches which you have to search for but no dings.

Excellent distortion unit but turned out I did not need a distortion unit.

Not many in the UK but sell new at about £180; and in US about $250.

    Yours for £110 inc. shipping.

Go on, you know you want it.

    Check out Ed Friedland's review

EDITED for various reasons but most of all for clarity!

  3.
That G&L looks like a nice score, mate :)

    Rich.
It is a very nice bass although I've not been able to really get on with five strings and the neck width that goes with them. But that was definitely my problem and not the bass itself.

So, as well as Mart's fretless Jazz, I am planning a four string tuned BEAD - probably try it on my P bass after I get my Lakland Skyline Decade which is coming soon.

But some excellent growly tones are available on the G&L and I might just get an L2000 four string version sometime in the future. We'll see.

  4.
FASHION were excellent, especially with Dee Harriss on vocals, Fabrique is their best album by far. Can't remember the bass players name though.
My extremely vague memories (I wonder why  ) of the Birmingham music scene in that period tell me it was John Mulligan on bass at first who later moved to keyboards. And the original vocalist was not Dee Harris but a very tall guy who called himself Luke Skyscraper.

And +1 on John Taylor being good.

  5.
Fingers crossed, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship for mart.

    Go on my Son!! :)
Well, we are in negotiation.

It could be a beautiful friendship for me too - or I could be looking for something with frets very soon!!

  6. Hi Mart.

I may be interested in your fretless Jazz. Would this USA G&L L2500 Blueburst/Maple (late 2007 - I think) interest you?

At present strung with TI Jazz Flats but I have the factory D'Addario rounds (I think). It doesn't have its own case but I have an old battered case for shipping.

Condition very good with no dings although one or two very small snags on the headstock.

PM me if you want to talk prices.

    Dave

  7.
Hofner Artist. It felt "right" when I tried it out in the shop, (I was only 13!) and it served me as my gigging Bass until I bought my first Precision 5 years later. Beware! Black and white '60's photography alert! :)

Second hand Hofner Artist which I wish I still had. It looked like this:

  8. Playing in a blues-rock band - a mix of our own material and blues standards including a couple of Hendrix tunes. All songs done, I'd like to think, in our own inimitable style.

Punter (male, late teens): "Have you always been a tribute band?"

Me (male, not late teens): "Tribute band? Why do you say that?"

Punter: "You did a Hendrix song."

Me: "Er....yeh. What's that got to do with being a tribute band?"

Punter: "If you play someone else's song, you're a tribute band."

Me: "I don't think so but whatever..."

Punter (as I start packing gear): "You were really good for a tribute band."

    Me: "Thanks."

I resisted telling him that his definition of 'tribute band' meant that probably every band that ever existed was a tribute band.

  9.
Yep - i have one and it has become my favourite gigging bass. Thomastik JF324 flats fit perfectly & It practically plays itself. I originally wanted a "vintage" one & tried a few, but much preferred the neck on the the CIJ, especially as it was a fraction of the price.
Oh dear, that's another 400 quid I need to spend. :)

  10.
Im originally a big metal/rock loving man, and am learning the bass to play in such a band, but since i've been researching and learning i've noticed my ears are now partial to a bit of blues, jazz, and funk! I find myself putting on a bit of Jaco or Bootsy when i get in from work to rewind rather than my usual blend of Avenged, Atreyu, and Dio.

Has anyone else found this or am i the only one going mad?
You're not going mad, you are becoming sane. :)

  11.
I got a sweet 1966 Mustang a few months ago - really just to add to the collection (& I got it for a bargain price)... And wasn't really expecting to use it much at all - but I have to say that the 'vintage' tone you can get from these is absolutely fantastic. Wind it up through an old valve amp & it will bring tears to your eyes. Not like an old Precision or a Jazz - it's own sound & very sweet. I'm definitely a short scale fan now...
Check out 'Indian Rope Man' by Julie Driscoll/Brian Auger for a fabulous 60's Mustang bass sound...
And of course 'All Along The Watchtower' - with Jimi Hendrix playing a Mustang bass - one of the greatest ever bass lines & tone...

Here's my 1966 (with very rare original case):

I would very much like one of those. Anyone know how the modern Japanese version shapes up?

You made me listen to 'All Along the Watchtower' Again; I never realised it was a Mustang, I thought it was just what happened when Jimi played bass!

  12.
Check this out man.
There have been more developments in my favour but I'm still treading on eggshells until I get my refund then his ass will be well and truly reported.:)
Yes, I knew about the other thread and your dispute. I meant that I would report to ebay that he was selling again without having done the repayment.
