Basstalk?
Hmm, sounds familiar.

May 23rd 2007 joined Basschat.
Besides Bassworld, wasn't there another shortlived predecessor to Basschat?

When I listen to Alan Spenner on those late '70's /early '80's Roxy albums I can hear Bernard Edwards' influence in some of his playing. ...
I've seen a programme 'The Story of Roxy Music' (or a similar title) where Nile Rogers says that he and Bernard Edwards were big Roxy Music fans.

I used to be able to dance, even to James Brown, although my main influences as a dancer were Ray Charles and Leslie Phillips.

I'm an adult so I don't need to have musical secrets.
If I like something I'll say so and if you're interested I'll give you an account of why I like it.
If you don't like me liking it then that's your problem.

No, because they are medium scale, as discussed above.
I read the discussion above and felt it didn't give a full picture of what strings are, or may be, needed for this style of bass.
Short-scale Hofner Violin and Club basses, and copies there of, often require medium scale strings to allow for the distance from floating bridge to trapeze tailpiece.
Maybe that's not an issue on the Harley Benton Violin bass, I don't know for sure. But the OP deserves to hear all the possibilities.

I am keeping an eye open for some suitable packing!

I highly recommend dealing with Lee. He's reliabe, communicative, and a fast payer. Jolly good.

These are a lightly used set of Dunlop stainless steel flatwounds in medium scale, £30 posted to UK.
The packaging has gone missing but on my micrometer they are 40-60-80-100 and the silks are black at both ends,
They have been used on a Fender Mustang Bass and hence have two ‘bends’ because of the bridge itself and because of the through-body stringing. You can see this in the pic below. It's more obvious on the thinner strings. The strings should be fine on a Mustang bass, for which I recommend them, and might well be fine on some other medium scale bass.
Amazon appears to be asking in excess of £70 for these!
So how about £30 posted.?

... why limit your range to that of a 4 string?
My range is limited by the songs i play not by the number of srrings i have.
If a song really needs more range than an EADG four string I'll tune down.
Why carry around unnecessary extras?

Definitely looks like the creaminess of olympic white.
Arctic white is not creamy at all. It's more of a brilliant snowblind white.
