1. Bump... surely someone must be interested in this? Especially with a saving of nearly a 100 noughts, complete with gig bag and full leather Fender strap!
2. Badass bridges are very good, but I do feel you're paying for the name as much as anything else. There are bridges of equally good construction and performance at a fraction of the cost of a Badass, look at Gotoh bridges for example. There are those who feel that higher mass bridges are just a clever marketing gimmick and at the end of the day, don't really add all that much to your sound. I had a Badass II bridge, and to be honest, heard no difference really in tone. But, at the end of the day, it's horses for courses and if you feel it works for you then that's cool. They do add a certain 'cool' factor to a bass I guess!
3. My newly acquired Tanglewood TEB-12, has a 30" scale length and nice woody/humbucker tone to it. Bought for the princely sum of £99
4. All PM's replied too... a possible sale in the pipeline, but it is still available.
5. A Friday morning bump...
6. Bumpity bump for tea time musings...
7. Welcome to BC... If you're covering Nirvana type stuff, then perhaps a solid bodied instrument would suit your needs better. Have a scout around the sale section of the forum, there's always plenty of bargains to be had and everyone is super friendly and helpful. I for one, am selling a cheap as chips Shine Violin Bass for £65! But, it might not be what you need. Give us a shout if it is Enjoy BC...
8. I'd forgotten about these, and was thinking about a strap lock system for a semi acoustic bass I've just bought, and these would be perfect. Very simple, also very quiet when using them. I find other systems on such basses can clatter about too much. Nice shout out. Cheers.
9. Agreed, of try and make me feel guilty in some case. However, I do operate a one in, one out policy on basses, so I still have two . Strung it up with some Rotosound blacks and it has a nice earthy, woody tone. The neck is very nice too, very P-bass ish, while the short scale makes for very comfortable playing. Doesn't suffer neck dive either. However, there is very little info about these online, so if someone could chip in with some, that would be great.
10. Pictures as promised and an early morning bump:
11. So far so good, she's not said anything Just cleaning up the bass now, shining up nicely. Just a fret polish to perform, and install a new set of Rotosound Blacks... lovely
12. Yeah, it's semi acoustic and quite well balanced. The tone was excellent, and that big humbucker pickup is very fat! The F holes can be found on most acoustic instrument and help in sound projection (mostly) - not that you'll get much with a bass like this.
13. Bought a Shine Violin Bass of Tom1946 about 6(?) weeks ago on here, and it's now no longer needed as I've sourced a bass more to my requirements. The Shine Violin bass is a superb instrument, and is capable of a lot of tones, more so than you'd believe from such a small hollowed bodied instrument - not just your typical Beatles vibe. The bass is in mint condition and is nicely finished for a budget instrument, and comes complete with an Italia gig bag (full scale - worth a bit in its own right). The bass, for all intents and purposes is just like new, and I'm looking to recoup the cost of it, which was a very respectable £65 collected, or £80 posted using my works courier (so fully insured etc) - I believe the bass retails new for about £165 ish, so a very good saving. I'll upload some pictures when I get back from work. Here's a stock image to be getting on with: PM me if you're interested. No trades please, I'm now GAS free
14. Cheers guys, the neck pickup is beefy as hell on this thing, and that's what caught my attention. The neck is also very precision-esq, which is what I prefer. The weight, neck, short scale and tone all make for a perfect blues/jazz gigging bass... all it needs now is a clean and string change
15. Just popped into Rimmers in Blackburn to have a chat with the guy who runs it, like you do, nice and informal, something to do on lunch break, and came out with this: A nice short scale bass with lots of character... just shy of a 100 noughts! Don't know anything about them, so if you can chip in with some thoughts and comments that would be great. Particularly year of manufacture etc, as they appear to be discontinued. Also, what exactly are the pickups? They appear to be humbuckers? Now to explain this sudden appearance to the missus
16.
Ive been asking £150 for over a month. Before that it started out at £200. I said I paid £250. Its not rocket science
Ah I see, my bad... I didn't see the dates etc - but in fairness there is no asking price just the £250 in the main post. I was just trying to bump you up. Good luck with the sale
17.
if they're great basses, why you think the price (200 pounds or so?) is HIGH...
Because the OP was/is asking £250 for it, and if you can get them for around £150 delivered he/she may struggle to sell it. A bass is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It's not rocket science
18. Got to play one of these, and they're great basses... price is a little high though. I recently turn one down at £150... good luck with the sale though.
19. Ms. Gardot is great, you lucky thing you. But alas, I can't help you, just thought I'd share my appreciation for you excellent taste in music
20. Maybe a combination of lighter and shorter scale may help, but it all depends on your budget? Rob Allen do lightweight shortscale basses, but the sound is quite uprighty. There's also Birdsong who do shortscale solid bodies, and a lot of people rave about them. The Fender P Bass Lyte is a superb bass. I had the deluxe edition and it was a fantastic bass. The pickups though seemed to lack punch, so that could have to be an upgrade option perhaps.
