It's a superb bass. Great pickups and playability. I've had one for a couple of years now and it's a joy to play.

It's modelled on a 62 with 3 knobs and I can vouch that it's a brilliant bass. Having said that, I also have an American Jazz bass (with S1 switching) that I put Seymour Duncan Vintage Pick ups into. What a difference they make! Two great basses for sensible money. Pete

I bought an ESP J800 jazz bass copy, new, back in 1992. It is a beatiful bass being 2 pieces of book-matched ash finished with a honey coloured clear finish, matching Fender-shaped headstock, bound 21 fret rosewood finger board, gold ESP hardware, ESP pick ups and black pickguard. Made in Japan. It weighs in at a very heavy 13lbs but the sustain is fantastic. I have asked ESP for information but they can't (or won't) give me any details. It was mentioned - with a picture - in the 1992 edition of "What Bass" with a RRP of £765. Pictures attached. Anyone know anything about it? Regards Pete

I fully endorse the comments on Lakland Jazz Basses. I have a Skyline Joe Osborn with Lindy Fralin pick ups and the bass is just a pleasure to play. The controls allow you to bring the full range of tones to your playing and the build quality is superb. All this at a price more than competitive with Fender.
