How do you know that they aren't on their scheduled break? You don't. -
Is your taste in music quite isolating?

I go to gigs on my own and generally end up speaking to people there who have the same interest, love and passion for what is going on. If your local venues have regular gigs then you get to chat to them and sort of end up with gig friends. However I wouldn't trust any of them to hold my pint while I go for a slash. -
This is what King Tubby turned into A New Normal In Dub on his latest album

I would suggest posting this in The Reggae Thread. -
Perfecto post pub. As am I. 😎😎😎

Prince Alla "Stone" plus "Grate Stone" a King Tubby dub.

There is an online archive of Mark Lamarr's BBC Radio 2 shows at https://www.godseternaljukebox.com/ and there are multiple series of his Beginner's Guide to Reggae all free to listen to. I picked a random episode and he said this was one of his favourite reggae tracks ever.

Here is the Barry Brown original and the King Tubby dub. The bass in this dub mix is probably my favourite and one of the most gloriously note filled it goes everywhere: no simple repetition on this one.

Today is International Reggae Day. Roots and culture!

Same same but different to Eastwood Dub it sounds like to me. Once again @Reggaebass is already where I am heading towards!

This week I have been mainly listening to King Tubby and no surprise this has already featured on the thread.

The man himself

I love watching videos like this seeing live mixes/dubs and watching the fingers on the desk change the sound in real time.

Nothing extra for the sake of it, great feeling, great vibe. Also loving the wearing of socks only as if someone's mam has said no shoes in the house.
-
Loved this. The repetitive droney structure of the dub took me away in myself.

It is a trying time for presidents everywhere so maybe they need to listen to this and take heed.

Back from the rub-a-dub and YT offers this up for me. Another version from a few pages ago and what I now know to be Syl Johnson sitting in there somewhere.
-
The thing that first got me introduced to dub was Towers of Dub by The Orb from 1992 and that got me off exploring. Those who like the ambient electronic world know this track as famously "the one with that bass drop" and this is where the sample was taken from.

I am digging through the Twinkkle Brothers back catalogue thanks to @Reggaebass and this one that got a few listens today. "I'd had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, 'That piece of halibut was good enough for...'"
