  1. This week I have been mainly listening to King Tubby and no surprise this has already featured on the thread.
  2. I love watching videos like this seeing live mixes/dubs and watching the fingers on the desk change the sound in real time.
  3. Nothing extra for the sake of it, great feeling, great vibe. Also loving the wearing of socks only as if someone's mam has said no shoes in the house.
  4. Loved this. The repetitive droney structure of the dub took me away in myself.
  5. It is a trying time for presidents everywhere so maybe they need to listen to this and take heed.
  6. Back from the rub-a-dub and YT offers this up for me. Another version from a few pages ago and what I now know to be Syl Johnson sitting in there somewhere.
  7. The thing that first got me introduced to dub was Towers of Dub by The Orb from 1992 and that got me off exploring. Those who like the ambient electronic world know this track as famously "the one with that bass drop" and this is where the sample was taken from.
  8. I am digging through the Twinkkle Brothers back catalogue thanks to @Reggaebass and this one that got a few listens today. "I'd had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, 'That piece of halibut was good enough for...'"
  9. I have searched far and wide but can't work it out. There is what looks like a name on the headstock but I can't make out what it says. Could it be the cheap and cheerful back up bass for the studio? It's a great video for seeing his thumb technique. Does he ever use the bottom string?
  10. It is back up again on the bay with the starting price dropped from £3,250 to £2,995.
  11. A journalist has tracked down the author of the list from Black Echoes and interviewed them https://dubreggae.tumblr.com/post/673948657498849280/one-of-historys-best-music-lists-better-than there is also a 81 hour playlist on Spotify plus many other links in the article to all sorts of amazing things. For example a 1975 Saturday night Capital Radio dub session from Tommy Vance!
  12. A few seconds in and I knew the riff immediately. It has been sampled by Wu-Tang Clan but I knew it from this. Always a moment when the source is revealed for a sound you have had in your head for years
  13. Then I did some research online as I thought there must be more of this and discovered this was recorded in Edinburgh in 1973 for the Old Grey Whistle Test. Details here https://dangerousminds.net/comments/rocksteady_your_soul_when_the_old_grey_whistle_test_went_reggae and links to the perofrmance on YouTube
  14. I have been listening to this on YouTube for the last few months it is one of the most powerful live performances I can think of
  15. Something a bit different, from Twitter Account @BassCulturedUK We are so excited to be part of this groundbreaking project, but we're conscious we can't do it without your help. Please feel free to get in touch. https://www.bl.uk/press-releases/2022/january/university-of-westminster-collaboration
  16. Here is this afternoon's listening pleasure. I googled "80s british dub" and this is one of the first that came up. Their profile says "Strictly Reggae, all kinds but favourite is 70s and 80s Roots. Started in the 90s so have a soft spot for that era too. Strictly vinyl selection." which means I shall be returning frequently to their stream. There are over 140 shows on there.
  17. @ReggaebassI am drunk as a lord as I type this but give me a chance. I am scanning YouTube and this is what I have found re Anarexol Dub your man Eek a Mouse is performing live
  18. This was today's pick of the bunch.
