I couldn't coordinate colours with a protractor, so I go classic black.

I could, but I am a fellow black goes with everything kinda bassist.

The OP's suede number I could go for, but I will see out my year of no GAS.

No you didn't, you just don't understand an either/or proposition.  By your logic if you have enough cash to buy either an amp or a bass you can buy both.

Neither in your logic. So why was Trace included? Which is it, dead or budget? It never died, it ain't budget.

I did not say TE was a budget brand.

I assure you that you did.

Due to G being involved with X, Y and Z, either A or B happened to them. You may not have had that in mind but it's what was written.

Perhaps Dad would parse your words for you with the proper grammatical terms. Get his hands out of the popcorn bucket for a couple of minutes.

  4. Trace was in suspended animation for a bit. What of it?

Gibson relinquished the brand and some remainder of parts to Peavey and boy oh boy have they (eventually) breathed the life back into it. Neither dead nor a budget brand.

Gibson were poor custodians of Trace Elliot. They didn't put anything into R&D for it so it withered away. The brand survived Peavey's initial missteps and now flourishes.

None of that is consistent with your assertion that Trace is now a budget brand due to Gibson. That is patently incorrect.

    Is Emglish your native language?

Trace Elliott, Steinberger, Tobias, Epiphone, Kramer & now Mesa Boogie.  All either disappeared or now just trade names for budget gear.

Where did I describe Boogie as 'budget' or TE as 'crap'?

Gibson bought Boogie in 2021 & there have been no new Boogies in the UK since.  Gibson say they will come back, but for now, you can't buy a new one.  So that patient, if not dead, has been in ITU for 3 years.

Gibson bought TE in October 1998 & moved the majority of manufacturing to the US & Asia.  They closed the UK factory in December 2001 & effectively ended TE production.  I'd say that was Gibson killing off the brand.  Peavey bought the distribution rights in 2006 & relaunched the brand, albeit using the same OEM boards found in some Peavey branded amps.  Nothing inherently wrong with that, but I doubt it's what Fred Friedlein envisioned for his company.

Right there above. Crap may be an exaggeration of budget but Mesa is definitely not budget, and neither is Trace thanks to Peavey's resurrection.

I think it is all dependent on the drummer. In one of my bands a BF210 would be fine, with more to go. In the other I’m pushing whatever 600w amp is there into an Ampeg 810 and just about get there.

Precisely why I posted what I posted. Context is everything when getting by with the BF210, even if it is a fair bit more capable than others.

If a drummer is used to playing with quiet energy then it's on the guitars and bass to not be blowing up the room.

It's still a complete guess how loud the OP band really is.

It's not 'a few hours' and if the product is discontinued why would they spend any time supporting it? If an OS update stops something working and it's discontinued you must have had it for a fair few years, time to upgrade to a better, newer interface.

This is the same with all computer based electronics. If you're spending a lot of money, buy something that is supported by the latest OS, not just by the OS you're currently running.

If the machine didn't insist on the death to all update all would have been fine. Apple squarely to blame for not allowing a device to mellow in its obsolescence still providing use. They didn't take old Steve out the back and shoot him.

  8. What did you use in your last band? Give us some clues.

Owners responding saying "I play in a loud band and it does fine" leaves everyone with no new information. It won't tell you anything more than you already know. You can't expect fountains of info while giving nothing.

Every drummer is loud. Some guitar amps are known for more volume than others.

  9. All bands are fairly loud. Sone will cope with the 210, some will not.

I think the best indicator is what guitar amp is in use, and if there is more than one.

    What style(s).

How many sticks does the drummer break in a session?

  10. Odd question.

Fill it. Sand it. Repaint with 'matching' paint.

What am I missing? Probably not going to match 100% and look worse than the 'mojo' scrape?

There is a technique of using dilute paint and a sponge to apply it. I am not too familiar but basically lots and lots of coats until the gap is filled back to flush, wiping away the paint that overlays the body each pass. If you do it right, no sanding.
