I have two studio racks for sale. Both are nice pieces of studio furniture and are aesthetically a step up from the steel and MDF stuff generally available. The first is a 4U rack sleeve made from solid pine. It's 52cm wide, 40cm deep and 21cm high. It's in good condition and has rack strips that will accept cage nuts/bolts. Open backed. Price £10 collected. The second is an 11U angled rack. Again made in solid pine, in good condition, this is quite a nice piece of studio furniture. The angle is about 10 degrees and it sits on discreet castors so it's very easy to move about. The rack strips are threaded to accept bolts directly. Dimensions: base is 52cm wide and 59cm deep; top is 52cm wide and 50cm deep; height is 65cm including castors. Open backed. Price is £45. Both racks are collection only from my home in Crystal Palace/Upper Norwood, South London. (Rack contents not included )

I'm moving on my Catalinbread SFT. It's the older white knob version, in as new condition with a velcro strip on the bottom. It's had little used really and still has its original box. I bought this new from ToneFactor in the US. There is a difference between this version and the newer version, but would need the overdrive experts to come and explain! Price is £90 posted. Nearly new Studiospares Trojan MkII 4U ABS rack case. Never gigged and virtually mint condition. Only used to house equipment at home. These Trojan cases are a little deeper than normal to accommodate connectors/leads etc. The rack strips are threaded so you don't need cage nuts. Full spec can be found here: http://www.studiospa...MST=trojan%204u Collection only as I don't have a box I can post this in. It's located in Crystal Palace/Upper Norwood, South London. Price is £35. It is still available. You're welcome to come and try it. I can try and record a bit and post a sound cloud link, but not likely to be able to until after the weekend. …….soundwise it's the bright side of P bass - as you'd expect from an ash body and maple neck. More Steve Harris than Jamerson. But still classic P and cuts through well in a band context. -

I've reluctantly decided to sell My Fender Japan 70s issue Precision. The model number is PB70-US/ASH. It's the non-export ash bodied version with maple neck and US vintage pickup. Here's a link to the model on the fender Japan site: http://www.fenderjap...pb70-usash.html Although it's an ash body it's a very lightweight bass. It is in near mint condition. There is not a single blemish on the neck or body. Only light fingernail scuffs on the pick guard give it away as not being in showroom condition. If you look closely at the pictures you will notice that it is utterly gorgeous This was bought brand new from Mikkigakki, Tokyo and brought over for me by a friend so I am it's first and original owner. I still have the hangtag and warranty card (in Japanese) and it comes with the standard Fender Japan gig bag. Collection from Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace, South London preferred. Courier is possible. Price is £650. Please PM with any questions. Pics as follows:

Chris bought my Avalon U5 after I responded to his wanted ad. Chris is a credit to Basschat and a great guy to deal with. Buy from/sell to with confidence!

That's a £699 option! One expensive pair of jeans

Cool wash? Tumble dry? Or dry-clean only? Seriously, I saw this earlier and thought within a year of grubby hands all over it it would look disgusting. I wonder what finish it is underneath?

Do you have another preamp or a mixing desk you can check the Rode out with? Focusrite pres are usually pretty robust - at whatever price point. It's always good practice to switch off phantom power before disconnecting any capacitor mic like the Rode. It could damage the mic otherwise.
-
Having said that - it may be cheaper to replace the microphone . You can get them secondhand for less than £100. Worth checking your phantom power on your preamp. Obvious I know but worth a look. The SM58 is a dynamic mic so won't need phantom powering.

Hi Bilbo, Give a call to the Rode distributor in the UK. http://www.sourcedistribution.co.uk …I'm sure they could sort this out. Alternatively if you want to repair and pimp your Rode have a think about Micael Joly's excellent mic mods. He's in the US but if you fill out your customs forms correctly you shouldn't be paying any taxes. I had a pair of Oktava mics modded by him last year and I'm very happy with them. http://www.oktavamodshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=145&osCsid=b2b99llag7qtivn4lr39rhnpe3
