1. Hi. Would you sell the Model B separately, and if so how much posted? PM me if you would prefer. Regards Shaker
JUST the Fishman unit(s) now remaining ! I also have the Fishman Pro-EQ PLatinum (acoustic instrument version) which I could substitute for the original Bass EQ, but would have to discuss the pricing. The Pro-EQ Plat' is a much more comprehensive unit with various controls + switches and sliders, XLR-out, Tuner-send etc (and costs about £150 new). I'll add a photo here when I have one/time
2. Hi You have a PM concerning the Korg Regards Shaker
3. Got Johns' Bassmax DB P/Up delivered today. Easy transaction. Thanks Shaker
4. I played electric bass for well over 20 years and then got a DB......about 5 years ago Bad stuff Although it is tuned the same it is a fundamentally different instrument, so be prepared to learn again and to be rubbish when you start. Physically it is very demanding, you will use muscles that you don't use with EB and it can be discouraging. When you start bowing it will sound [email protected] keep going. This will teach you to play in tune. Good stuff You get great gigs and the admiration of the gender of your choice. People really love the bassman! The experience transfers back to your EB playing..less about speed and more about note selection and hearing (makes you a better musician?) The sheer physicality of it is really quite joyous...you, the bass..it is very immediate. Lessons learned Take it slow...work up to 20 minutes each day, establish the plateau then move on. Get some lessons to protect your body Find the set up and the strings that suit you and your bass. This is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!! What else I wouldn't consider the half step from EB to EUB as worthwhile. The EUB is useful ( and great fun to play) but doesn't prepare you for your final transition to DB (if that is what you want to do) enough to make it worthwhile. Jump in bravely, but carefully. My instrument is a 1960's east european plywood fronted, ebony boarded POS, which plays rather nicely but will never be a really good instrument (think of it as a Squier, if you know what I mean) but is is hugely satisfying to play and I have got awesome gigs with it (festivals, radio etc.), that I truly believe I would not have got with the EB. and finally.... A saxophonist friend of mine said to me ' you will never regret buying a Yamaha'...to paraphrase him ' you will never regret playing a DB'...except when you are walking 400m to the venue;) Take the plunge...........if you buy wisely and it doesn't work out you should cover your costs, but don't get me started on amplifying the beast.......... Hope this helps Shaker PS If you are ever in Kent and you want to try my bass out PM me
5. I think we have established that it wont work. Thank you all for your input. Shaker
6. Having thought about this further in light of the advice above, I think the question I am really asking is how do I wire up the 2 2x10 cabs so the amp 'sees' them as a single 4x10 cab at 8ohms. Any ideas?
7. Thanks for the responses. I wanted to avoid getting a 4x10 as I would struggle to get it in the car (no roadie!) and hoped that there was some brilliantly simple solution. Sounds like there isn't. In fairness, I only want it for the occasional gig where I need the extra oomph. Maybe I should think again. Shaker
8. Help. I have a MAG300 amp, with 2x 8ohm speaker outputs which I use with an Ashdown MAG 1x15(8ohm) cab and an Ashdown MAG 2x10(8ohm) cab. What I want to be able to do is add an extra Ashdown 2x10 cab, to effectively give me the option of 2x 2x10's as well as the 1x15 at the same time, but this obviously wont work without some thought. (I don't want to have a 4x10 cab as it would be too heavy for me to move, let alone put in the car) Can anyone tell me how I would wire the speakers up, I can use a soldering iron, a drill and a screwdriver(!) and not averse to a bit of DIY. I would want to be able to use one of the 2x10s with the 1x15 as well..so this requires some thought. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated Shaker
9. I have both and do different gigs with each. The SABDDI sits on my pedalboard and warms up my tone on Electric Bass. The BDI21 is used as an 'always on' impendence matching/pre-amp/tone warming for my Double Bass. On this point, I tried a number of DB pre-amps, including the Fishman, but liked the 'warming' the BDI21 gives. Tonally, they can do broadly the same things, although the settings are not the same to acheive it on both, if that makes sense. I have never had any problems with either, the DI from both is strong, although the BDI21 eats batteries faster and 'whines as the battery dies. Not a problem if you carry spares or plan ahead. Construction-wise...one is made of plastic and the other is made of metal. My BDI21 goes nowhere near the floor, so this isn't a problem for me, but I would worry about it holding together under much foot stomping. The Price/Quality issue is the main thing. The Behringer offers fantastic VFM, it is made from cheaper materials, AND it sounds fine. The SABDDI is more expensive by a factor of over 6:1, it is the industry standard, it is better built, AND it sounds fine. You pays your money, you takes your choice. Shaker

13. Now sold. Thanks for the interest Shaker
14. Neepheid is right, they are nice basses. My hands are used to a double bass and a 6 string bass, so a short scale bass just feels too small for me. For clarity, the condition is good for a well used 6 year old Squier bass selling for £50. It has some scratches and has been well used, but is not trashed. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being firewood and 10 being immaculate, I would put it at about a 7-8. Sorry, if it seems that I am messing around but I have also looked at the gig bag. It is in much better condition than I recalled so I don't want to include that in the asking price. I will take £10 for it, or if you don't want it, the postage will probably be less. Shaker
15. I bought this in 2003 for my then 10 year old son to start learning on. He has now grown both physically and as a bass player, so has now taken my old P Bass. This leave this as surplus to requirements. I had toyed with turning it into a 'piccolo bass' or upgrading it, but I have huge hands and too many basses already. As you can see it is a stock bass. Shortscale (30.5"), single pick up, two saddle bridge. The bass is in good used condition, having been played but not abused. The pickup is powerful, the tone control surprisingly musical and everything works as it should. It is strung with Elites that have plenty of life left in them and it has a low action, albeit a little 'fretty' up the dusty end. So, in summary, a good starter bass for a small learner, a good practice/beater bass for someone wanting light and portable, or maybe a base/bass? for a project. I will include a 'tired' Rockbag soft case and will pack well. Looking for £50 plus P&P at cost. Can send more pics. Shaker

20. Have to agree with Clarky's analysis. I tried them a while ago, the G and D felt good, but the A& E were absolutely useless. Put them on and took them off inside 48 hours. Fortunately they are cheap. If you want softer strings, I have had good experiences with D'Addario Pizz Light gauge. On my bass they really opened up the tone. Hope this helps Shaker
