  1. It's worth bugger all, maybe even less but my daughter has an early 90's Peavey international. I was just curious as to whether that would be considered vintage. It's around 30 years old now. It's actually quite nice to play but pretty much worthless to anyone but my daughter.

  2. I'd tune the 5 string down as well. I assume you're playing metal and there will be lots of playing riffs off open string which gets really tricky if you're not in the right tuning.

Playing something like Reign In Blood would probably be impossible if you aren't in the same tuning as the guitar or have 8 fingers 10 inches long

Are you having doubts about giving up the band you just left, or just in general?

    A little of each.

I only have one bass and one amp but the amp is 600w with a 4x10 so maybe I should downsize although smaller cabs seem to be more expensive than big ones

  4. Well I finished with the band with two gigs on consecutive nights, the first was brilliant, couldn't have been better. The second had terrible sound, we were the wrong support act so the audience weren't in to us and I got terrible hand cramp. Driving home I was glad I wouldn't have to do it again.

I put all my gear up for sale and couldn't wait for it to go then I got enquiries and got doubts about giving up.

    I'm confused

I used to rehearse at Soundlab in Loughton, Essex, I played through an Orange Terror bass head into an Ampeg 8x10, simply the best sound I have ever got.

That'll be the cab, the Terror isn't a great amp. Tons of power but a horrible preamp. I've met a few bassists who use them and just run an external preamp in to the effects return to bypass the Orange preamp.
