Update by Jan 1st: Buyer‘s from within UK should be aware that for imports from EU to UK since Jan 1st the UK VAT will be applicable. This VAT has to be paid by the UK buyer once the goods are crossing the borders. Note: As a private seller in EU I can not reduce the price for second hand goods as VAT has never been included in the price. Just traded in this wonderful bass but I am not a 36" lover, even if this bass does not play and feel like that. Specs: Chestnut Burl Top Alder Body Brazilian Rosewood Board ! 36" scale 19mm spacing at bridge Aero Dual Coils in Chestnut Covers Pope Preamp Gold HW OHSC Weight 4.62 kg The serial number sets this to the legendary Chestnut times in the 90s. Condition is superb, hard to see any dings without a very close look. I don't really know but it seems to me that this bass has been fully refurbished at Fodera once ago. Even the gold plated HW has no fading. Low action, everything works fine and the sound is as you would expect from that config: a huge B and a responsive, dominant and organic timbre. Asking 6300 EUR (approx. 5700 GBP today which is a steal for this bass, considering the rare woods that have been used here. Chestnut tops and Rio Boards are a 3000+ USD upgrade against common woods. No trades please - price is firm.

Selling my legendary Steinberger graphite paddle bass, an XL2 from 1992. Condition is very good. Everything works fine. The neck is straight and the action could be set very low. The leg rest is the newer one. Frets are in very good shape and still have years of life on them. Original EMG pickups. This bass has the rare detuner on the E string. It works perfectly and could adjust the E string to a low D in a heartbeat. Just put a fresh set of GHS double ball end strings on it. The gigbag is not original I guess and is not the most reliable one. There are better ones available in the market - but it still does the job. These Steinbergers are perfect travel basses as they are not as sensitive against climate changes like its wooden sisters. Plus the size reduced to a minimum what a 34" could be. I am asking 2300 GBP or 2500 EUR plus shipping from Duesseldorf/Germany. This is the lowest price I can see anywhere in the web today. No trades please. Sorry for the poor pics - I had no better lighting available today. I will upgrade them as soon as possible.

These 20th Anniversary Smiths are fantastic and ... lightweight ! 4.6 kg is on the lower end of Smith 6ers ... Free bump from me. If I would not already own a Birdseye Redwood 6 from the 20th Anniversary series - I would buy this one in a heartbeat.... Unfortunately my collection should definitely not grow anymore ... GLWTS !

It has the first 9V version of the 3-Bd. BMT circuit. Yes, you are right about the „real throughneck“. These necks are slightly slimmer than the later BSR necks. They are much more complex to build than the toneblock versions.

Please look at the official statements from CITES or NAMM. By 2019 CITES decided to confirm an exception to CITES II for Musical Instruments. CITES II was effective since 2017 and contained restrictions on a lot of Dalbergia and other wood species like all Rosewood, Cocobolo, Bubinga etc. The restrictions keep to be effective now but because in Musical Instruments the part of these woods are quite small CITES accepted an exception. Brazilian Rosewood is listed since 98 in CITES appendix I and has been banned for all officially undeclared exports. And this appendix I is NOT changed by the exception rules of 2019 ! By the way - Export from Brazil is forbidden since 1968 ! So unfortunately it is still risky to ship Brazilian Rosewood across EU borders. In between EU across all countries (and until end of 2020 for brexitted countries) there is no risk as it is an unregulated trade zone. I am not sure whether flight passengers from UK to Germany have to pass the customs since Brexit. I don‘t think so. From Jan 1st 2021 this will happen. Do not underestimate the knowledge of customs guys ! In Germany they are well trained people !

I would add that the Aeros sound more scooped yet open in the higher registers and the Duncans have more upper mids emphasis - that makes the Duncans sometimes sitting more perfect in the mix. But the Aeros sound rich too. I personally would prefer Aeros for Maple Board/Ash basses, where the upper mid grind of the Duncans could interfere too much with the sweet spot of the wood... Although I never compared them A/B in the same bass. So there is no proof ...

The BMT series have been built from 1993 to 1997 - basically it has the same spec like the all-time top-of-the-line Smith series - the later Fusion Elite. With a small difference: The BMT Series has the real neck-through concept. Newer neck are built like dove-tails. You can see the difference in the back. The real neck-through is of course more expensive as there is much more waste from sanding the neck wood piece. Additionally - the headstock is black instead of matching the top wood. The BMT are probably the most sought after basses today. There are about 150 built - and this is the one of the very rare fretless ones. This bass was originally fretless - has been fretted and later defretted again. Honestly I must say that I prefer the fretted sound on Smiths. Condition is absolutely like new ! The Quilted Maple looks much better in real life than in the pics.
