  1. It is a gorgeous colour and has been my absolute favourite. Have had many Ray’s this one has been the best by far
  2. Neck is absolutely fine, there is a small ding on the front, but it is hard to spot, other than that it is in excellent shape.
  3. I now seem to be firmly entrenched in short scale playing now and have decided to move on my beloved Stingray 5 string. it plays and sounds exactly as it should. Complete with soft gig case, s-locks. I know I will regret this, but I am on the search for decent 5 string SS basses.!

  5. I believe there is a tonepump style circuit installed.
  6. Nice 5 string Spector Holo Flash, have had this a while, bought from this forum a few years back, new strings, plays really well. Moving over to short scale so moving on my 5 strings.
  7. Squier Contemporary Active Jazz Bass HH V, Roasted Maple Fingerboard, Black Pickguard, Gunmetal Metallic. Great 5 string, lots of modern attributes, surprisingly great bass. I am moving to short scale so it is up for sale. BAsically pretty new except for a minor bend in the one machine head. The Squier Contemporary Active Jazz Bass HH V brings modern features and bold aesthetics to an iconic Fender platform to satisfy today’s most discerning and daring players. At the heart of this bass is a pair of Squier SQR ceramic humbucking pickups powered by a Fender-designed active 9-volt preamp, offering intuitive controls for volume, pickup blend, traditional tone and stacked boost controls for bass and treble. The roasted maple neck was chosen for its optimal tone and stability, and a sculpted heel design allows for improved access to the upper frets. High-performance components round out the feature list and include a modern bridge with added mass for improved body resonance, and a set of open-gear tuning machines for smooth tuning action. Eye-catching styling cues include stealthy black hardware and a sleek painted headstock with chrome logos for a premium look.

  10. Hi All, Now withdrawn, too good of a backup bass. I have had this a while and it is a very capable active 5 string. When I bought it it had a bit of damage on the back of the guitar, doesn't affect playability in any way, purely cosmetic and as it is at the back no-one sees it! I put a little black paint on it and it has never caused me an issue. The bass plays well, sounds good and is a great back up bass for a gig, or main gig bass for those gigs you don't want to take your £3k pride and joy too. http://www.squierwiki.com/Deluxe-Dimension-Bass-V
  11. I have too many 4 strings and I need to concentrate on my 5 string playing so am putting this beauty up for sale. It has recently had a stunning refret job done by our very own Andy Rogers and it plays like butter. It is a lovely instrument to play, has a few minor dings here and there but nothing that detracts from the playability. There are the customary couple of areas where the red finish has worn through, I cunningly put a couple of small squares of red grain fablon over them as a quick fix, but has stayed on for a while and I haven't bothered to remove or re-stain. Everything works as it should and it is a comfortable instrument to play, sounds nice, the neck is fabulous. I would be interested in 5 string trades if you have anything interesting. Cheers All.
  12. This is a light, superbly toned 5 string headless bass, I love the tonal range and ease of playability this bass has, but I am going back into a rock band and using my Ray. When I bought it one of the bridge adjusters had been chewed, NS very kindly sent me from the Czech Republic a brand new one! everything works and plays as it should, it has a fresh set of strings on it, Schaller S-locks and comes with the original quality gig bag. There is plenty of info out there on these and a lot of great reviews. RRP is a grand, Bass Direct sells them for £900, when they have them. I am asking a very reasonable £600 plus postage. Welcome to collect from Hereford.
  13. Hi Guys, you know what these are, I have one in good condition complete with roqsolid cover.
  14. Got this recently from RussFM, and it is a lovely instrument, but now my trusty Warwick is back together it is surplus to requirement. See below original ad from RussFM, (hope he doesn't mind!) Have added a new set of Schaller Gold S-Locks and a fresh set of strings
  15. And it is spectacular! A superb job, fixed back on the bass, intonation was a dream to set. Neck plays beautifully, it is such a tidy job, all fret edges are smooth, beautifully filled, all the heights are bang on. When my beloved Ray needs the frets doing I know who I will be asking. I will take some better shots, but in the meantime, see below.
  16. I was really surprised with the roundwound strings, because they played well, tension was fine and amazingly didn’t sound tinny on the recordings. Having owned one of the earlier Kalas, I was pleasantly surprised and now prefer the journeyman. It is so playable snd so much fun! Got mine from bass direct.
  17. I have a journeyman and love it, very playable, did some recordings with it, great tone.
  18. wow, nice job! If I end up keeping it that is probably what I will do!
