  1. Price dropped to just £300 collected from Benfleet in Essex, 20 mins east of the Dartford crossing along the A13.  I could theoretically meet half way if not too far, even deliver for the cost of fuel within reason.  Absolutely no couriers - against my better judgement I sent some stuff recently and it only went according to plan once - I have dropped the price to tempt people into a road trip!

Well I had a such a good experience in dealing with Paul that I bought another bass from him in a matter of a few weeks.
He is a genuine guy, pleasure to deal with, side note he has one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve ever seen. 🌵🪴 😁

    Thanks Paul

    Thank you Sergio!

The issue with long leads and wet ground is that your body is at one voltage (that of the ground you are standing on) and the earth of your kit is at another voltage (either an earth spike in the place the power comes from or more likely via the neutral wire to a local substation many meters of cable away).  The resistance between those two earth points is likely quite high so the current that flows through you is too small to trip an RCD .... BUT you will still feel it.

My house is very poorly grounded and you can easily get a tingle if using power tools in the garden in bare feet (!!) or off the stainless toaster or microwavestanding on the damp kitchen floor.

TBH there isn't a lot you can do.  Using one of these portable battery generators (eg a Jackery Power Station) is one way to get around it.  Another way is to use an isolation transformer and an earth spike near where you are standing (getting a bit techie at this point).  In any case if an extension lead is the only option, do use an RCD - you may still get a tingle but it would trip before you got electrocuted.  Try not to play in bare feet on wet grass 🙂

(PS: I'm an electrical engineer, I'm not making it up)

Elementary question but does using a wireless kit remove the risk?

  4. I have something almost exactly the same - forget the make but it is a case for a scoped rifle -  that is precisely 102cm long inside that I used for my Hohners.  It isn't worth posting but if you happen to be passing Benfleet, in Essex, you are welcome to it.  Has nice egg-box foam lining, too.

  5. At the time these were the best budget IEM systems, certainly this never failed or had any issues whatsoever.  Not been used for a while but before then every gig and rehearsal for 5 years.  Comes with a pair of Shure SE 215 buds, upgraded lead, all in the handy original carry case.  Here's the LD website guff: https://www.ld-systems.com/en/series/mei-1000-g2-series/4221/mei-1000-g2

All together this lot cost over £350, I'm asking £150 posted to mainland UK.  Welcome to try beore you buy in Benfleet, Essex

  6. Trace Elliot Transit B pre-amp that has the famous Trace Elliot EQ, pre-shape, drive, compressor and tuner all in one pedal.

heres the .pdf from Trace Elliot explaining it all https://www.traceelliot.com/resources/te-transit-b-om.pdf

I found it incredibly useful to have all my favourite things in one off-the-peg unit and it glows green when you switch it on.  What else could you ask for?  I stuck a bit of luminescent tape to mark where the DI is.

These are north of £270 new, this works and is in good nick so I am asking £150 posted to UK mainland.  You are welcome to pop over and try before you buy.

Youre clearly a football fan - unless Jim Rodford was handy with a dead ball! 😂 ️

    Bloody good track too…

Hate the stupid sport, merely a brain fart.  Anyway, I'll see your ford and raise you a well.

Whatever his name, I saw him with the band a couple of times (before he died, obvs!) and he always had his elbows out like that so I can only assume he practiced on the double neck all the time!

Last time he also - quite annoyingly - played the bass line to Hold Your Head Up wrong.  Dummmdummmdummm dum dum instead of Dum dum dum dummmdummm.

Yes, Russ is a bit of an undiscovered gem. Glad you checked him out. 👍

I'd always thought he was cool AF seeing him on TOTP in the 70s - sunglasses, holey guitar, shirt undone to the naval.  It is a pleasing thing to now dive a bit deeper and find he was perhaps the creative drive of the band.  Their song 'Tragedy' rarely gets airplay anywhere but is most likely my favourite Argent tune.  Certainly has some of my favourite rhythm guitar work on it in the breakdown.  You can barely see Jim Rodwell from behind that twin neck!

Perhaps he’s bitter cos he didn’t write it😂

My beef with the latter-day Zombies (now retired of course) was they went stadium rock for US audiences with long solos instead of being a decent pop group. One of the worst offenders was Hold Your Head Up - again, not ‘their’ song.

Ballard!  Just looked him up.  Wow, he wrote some great tunes didn't he!  Couple of Ranbow's biggies!

I regularly dep with John Verity who replaced Russ Ballard as singer/guitarist in Argent. There’s always some spiel in the set about how God Gave Rock and Roll to You was and Argent song before being picked up and made uber famous by Kiss!

One of the things that puts me off seeing the Zombies again, tbh - Mr Argent's bitter and lengthy tirade.  Left a nasty undertone to the evening.
