A few years ago (about 5 I think) I bought, what was later to be called the "Frankenbass" from a BC member (Bloop dad) A superb vision of creativity and feat of engineering resulting from, (if I remember correctly) a vehicle / double bass related issue.
I had bought it with a view to learning but also as a bit of a quirky statement. I loved it although It seemed at the time that not many others shared my enthusiasm.
Fast forward a couple of years and it was usually then described as my "art installation" In 2021, after settling back in the UK in Norfolk, I decided to sell it as I had a further two EUBs and so, it was sold via Facebook to a lovely young lady called Sophie who weighed approximately half of the weight of the Frankenbass and who also loved and "got the quirkiness" Was it doomed to be forever a conversation piece? No it wasn't.
Attached are a few pics. Ranging from my purchase, a first live gig with the new owner, to getting tried out by an old pal of hers (yes, it really is him) and the new make over to give it a more modern appearance
and now being played live at least once on a weekly basis. Sorry to bore you all but I just love it when things, particularly instruments which seemed to have stalled, get the chance to continue their journey.
Link added.

We’re 4 guys in late 30’s and early 40’s our band is called MLC - Mid-life crisis.
I thought it was a great name, even though there are some other bands who share the name. Am totally happy.
I was contacted by another band to try out with them, they were called Hashtag and the name was enough to make me think seriously about even trying out.
I was in an Essex band called Midlife Crisis (South Woodham Ferrer's) at that time, there was even a website dedicated to bands with that name. There were 43 bands registered😂

Well, if I pass Wednesday's audition, I will be a member of " Lady & the tramps" covers band doing stuff by Bonnie Raitte, Samantha Fish, Kelly Clarkson, Sheryl Crow etc. If I don't get it, I'll still be a member of Dereham indoor bowls club which is not really a band as it's a bowls club.

Band 1 - The Spacewasters.
Originals psychobilly type punk. I am the basswaster.
Band 2 - The Dogmattics.
Classic punk covers.
Band 3 - Thunderkunt.
Classic rock (but instrumental only, no singer, no gigs).
Just a stab in the dark but is there a possibility that the name of band 3, and the term "no gigs" are connected in any way?

That's nice. Got a real F bass vibe going on. Cool.

I hope so; I just bought an Elwood 4a off eBay that is in trans white. Complete rush of blood to the head but I had been looking for a nice medium scale and the one on eBay seemed reasonably priced. Might not arrive until the 14th though. The free postage is obviously by camel train!
BTW I get the Jake and Elwood thing but shouldn’t it be Donald and Duck? After all Jake and Elwood didn’t play bass 😀.
Ah, so you've joined the club Pat. You won't be disappointed. I'll expect to hear it at the next Blues meet.

It'll turn out like Starwars. They'll get to Vintage MK4, then bring out The Fender Original Vintage series, and then the Vintage Original series.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Okay, final attempt before they go in the shed forever.
Pair of EV SX 200s. 300w 8 Ohm tops. Also double as great floor monitors.
In out Speakons, all working. Inc 2 cables
I've had a look on Ebay and can't find any under £275.
No, they don't have covers.
Yes, they're scratched.
Yes, they're gigged.
Yes, the little EV badges have fallen off however, they sound fabulous and are basically unbreakeable.
Absolutely perfect for pub rock or a rehearsal space. Quality sound for not a lot of money.
Pick up only I'm afraid unless you want to do all the arranging of couriers etc at your risk.
Price drop. Now £275 for the pair. But now includes a Yamaha 400w powered EMX 212s mixer (200+200 both with graphic) Sounds brilliant with these tops.
Plenty loud enough for rock vocals in pubs/clubs etc. So, apart from a pair of stands, a great sounding pub PA for £275

These are nice basses. I had a Energy 6 bass and gigged with it for years. Sold it for a PC in 1996.
GLWTS
Yup, they are nice. Had two 6ers but the dreaded arthritis put a stop to those.

Can I ask the bridge spacing please?
Sorry, just agreed a sale and packing it up now but for future reference if your after one, this was 18.5 centre to centre.
Thanks for the enquiry though.

I swapped a bass for three bottles of Merrydown once, it was the 70s and it may not have been my bass.
Now that's how I like to remember the 70s. Proper rock n roll.👍

A very nice bass, but it isn't any good for metal (detecting).
Sorry - it was inevitable someone would say it, so best get it over with!
No problem. As you say, inevitable however, you've gone right up in my estimation as you had the decency to wait 13 hours😂

I recently bought a Tokai Strat off someone who wanted the money to buy a model train.
Yeah, why not? Other hobbies are good.
Especially when they don't involve singers, low-life pubs, egos, 1am breakdown and load-ups, unadvertised gigs, unreliable band members, overloud guitarists and drummers, drunks and Hey Joe😉

Will obviously supply more pics if any interest.
Metal detector sorted so now looking to sell.
I've got enough bass guitars for someone who's not in a band so, as I've got into metal detecting and fancy an upgrade, there just might be one of you that has a pro level detector you're not using and fancy a well used, but nice classic Energy 5 string that weighs just around the 8lbs mark. No case but could chuck in a cheap gigbag.
The dot markers are real, not stick-ons. Seen some fair usage but great for what I imagine is a 30 year old bass. Super light for a five string, very comfey to wear and play. All pots work, has a new battery compartment.
Welcome to come, play, twiddle and decide. Quality biscuit provided with exceptional cup of accompanying coffee. Newly strung with I can't remember strings that were a new spare set I got with another bass. Think they're 40-125s
Never appears to go out of tune.

Thank you. Will do.

Okay, sorry it's not a bass we're talking about but does anyone know what's going on with Epiphone/Gibson tone pots?
Brother has an Epi Les Paul and an Epi 335. I have a 335 and it seems that 90% of the tone rolls off in the last 15% of the pot movement.
Is this normal? Any ideas? All three guitars have quality CTS pots.

Sincere apologies, this has been sold and I forgot to mark it so.
Sorry once again.

Well how bout that. Sent a pedal from our local post office, parcel of just under 1kg, 2nd class, cheapest option, two days ago on the 19th. It arrived today I'm told.

Rich bought a Zoom effects pedal from me. As usual, super efficient BCer. Paid immediately, great Comms. Really nice guy to boot.
Just a little story about a continuing journey.

From memory, the only thing that survived the accident was the neck. The framework I recall, was created by the owner and his Dad. It worked, and funnily enough, sounded like a double bass.
