It's how Inspector Clouseau would look if he had to go undercover as a jazz muso.

Perhaps you shouldn't have ended with a final sentence of "P*** s*** w*** c******"?

John Paul Jones is actually very tall indeed, but due to his modesty only allows himself to be pictured in extremely large building, or stood further away from the photographer when in the company of shorter people, this giving the illusion of being diminutive.

Can get to over 6ft with back combing
With a bit of creative combing of my quiff I could managed 6'7" in my heyday. Alas, without the assistance of Donald Trump's hairdresser thats no longer possible.

Very unscientific, but it would indeed seem that us bassists are a loftier than average bunch.
-
So, 6 feet or over, or 5 feet 9 and under, few in the middle ground.

Surfing the interweb trying to get my fix of bass related news and I found this...
http://www.thecavanproject.com/tall-musicians/
...postulating that us bass players are a tall breed.
Is this true? The first example that came to my mind was myself, and I'm 6'5". But does the correlation hold water? Are we a breed of Hightowers, or a random mix of heights?

While I appreciate the humour (😉), in the context of the thread, I’m suggesting he’d stick out like a sore thumb.
Si
It's all in the ear of the beholder. If it sounds good then no ones opinion is any more valid than anyone elses, and it is possible to sound good without necessarily conforming to genre rules and norms.
I've been doing some walking myself, quite by accident while messing about and twiddling some little fills between changes. It doesn't follow any written rule, any structure that I'm aware of, but the lad I play with is a proper guitar teacher and he nods along quite happily with it. If some self appointed, pipe smoking, velvet jacketed, Jazz Club wannabe doesn't like it he's probably in a minority anyway, so who cares what they think? Some people are so far up their own behinds with theory they've probably forgotten what an actual tune sounds like.
@lownote12 should carry on doing whatever the hell he likes. If it works for him, great. If no one else is throwing themselves out the window in terror while he plays, then so much the better.

On a serious note (no pun intended), I suppose it depends who your audience is. If it’s jazz musicians, at worst you’ll look like a blagger who doesn’t know what they’re doing..
So, you're saying he would fit right in then?

A bad gig is where the males in the audience throw their knickers at you.

I'm liking that. It's simple yet stylish, just like me

Whatever You Want, by Status Quo. Classic track from their peak, doing what they did best. Only 7 bass notes in the whole song, but lifts and carries it along beautifully.

Reminds me of the Jumping Jews of Jerusalem from Blackadder.

I get stuff like locking strap nuts from Ali. Absolutely identical to the ones sold here for £11 a pair, but they're 99p each posted from Ali. UK sellers are making a terrific mark up on stuff like that.
Am I brave enough to buy a bass from there...no, at least not yet.

It doesn't matter, because politicians know better than the rest of us poor thickos and will never implement such a thread.

Or perhaps he demanded second confirmatory thread? A Peoples Thread, if you will.

I'd disagree with Them Crooked Vultures. Love their work.
Asia.
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.
And I'll go out on a limb and say most iterations of Whitesnake.

Tell that to a dyslexic...
I am dyslexic and read music. I was taught properly as a youngster when my Ma made me endure piano lessons. Then as a teenager I took up the guitar off my own bat, and despite having binned the piano lessons a few years before was able to see how it related to music written for piano. Then as an adult in my 50's I've had to adapt again to learn to read stuff in the bass clef, but the memories are quickly flooding back and with a bit of reading around the topic I'm doing ok.
I wouldn't say I find it easy, but lessons at the right age from a patient and skilled teacher taught this dyslexic to read music moderately well
Conversely, I can't read tab to save my life. I can see full well how it works but when I try my brain just won't grasp it.

But go down that road and eventually every topic becomes a pinned post, and there is no reason or opportunity for further discussion.

Mrs Bassfinger. As aforementioned elsewhere, I started as a guitarist but an I jury has left me with no feeling in two fingers and only partial feeling in my thumb. I was struggling with finger picking, and Mrs B suggested that a bass guitar might suit better due to having a 3rd less real estate to cover with my tight hand. She was right.
However, now that I am a bassist I take my inspiration from Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond. He also was not a bassist, or even a musician, but when asked to join Jethro Tull he rose to the occasion and effectively bluffed his way through 5 albums and several world tours.

To do that we'd need to establish cause and effect.

Even better idea. Can we ban the "I don't get the relics threads" threads?
