  1. I have wrestled with this and withdrawn the bass once already, but I have accepted that I need to move my virtually new Dingwall Combustion 3 pick up 4 string on to a new home. I would much prefer a trade for a nice lightish Jazz style bass. I am based in Wigan and will travel half way to meet  for the right instrument. I am happy to put some money in or take a bass plus cash for a cheaper instrument as long as it’s a jazz style instrument in great condition with a decent quality case or bag, with no issues, and a nice set up.

My Dingwall is as new. I know you have probably seen this before but I can assure you that it would be difficult for even the most discerning eye to be able to tell the difference between my bass and one off the rack in a shop. It still has the plastic on the control plate and battery compartment.  I am also happy to sell and allow any prospective buyer to view the bass first. Please feel free to ask any questions.

PLEASE NOTE MY BASS DOES NOT HAVE A QUILTED MAPLE TOP.

I think the East preamps are wonderful - however I do have a Glock' pre in my AB1 and have to say it's brilliant - the 3 band version offers a great deal of scope. If you happened to have a three pickup Dingwall, I'd suggest my 'DV Switch' mod too which got a big thumbs up from Sheldon himself at LBGS. Very pleased about that!

    Good  Morning,

I don’t know if you will pick this up as it’s such an old thread. I am thinking of replacing the EMG pre that’s in my combustion would you be kind enough to let me know which Glock pre amp you recommend. I am not very knowledgeable in this area and will be grateful of the assistance.

    Many thanks.

  3. Hello All,

Anyone out there with a nice jazz style bass that might consider trading  for my recently purchased Dingwall Combustion 4 string with the 3 pick up option?  Ideally I am looking for a nice light Jazz style bass, nothing too complicated just something that plays well and sounds good. I will take some more photos later if necessary, this is just a feeler post as such to gauge interest and see what might be available as a trade. I am not looking to sell as I will obviously lose a fair amount of money. The bass is absolutely as new and is no more than a couple of months old. Looking at the Dingwall stockists it’s difficult to fathom out the pricing structure, suffice to say Andertons have a bass similar to mine with no pick guard for just under £2000.  Not trying to be clever here this is just a guide price in case anyone is looking to buy a new one and has a suitable bass to offer in exchange.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

  4. Fabulous band, PM is one of the best songwriters of his generation and up there with any the UK has produced. I believe he and Martin are from Consett and PM still resides there.  I managed to see them live twice and they were outstanding, great songs that were impeccably well played. Martin was very much the surprise package on bass, simply fabulous. He and Neil Conti made a great rhythm section.  PM is still recording as Prefab Sprout although he plays and records all the instruments in his own studio in a controlled environment as he has severe hearing issues.

  5. Stuart purchased my Yamaha bass earlier today. What a thoroughly pleasant chap and a credit to bass chat. Communication was excellent and the deal went as smoothly as it possibly could have. I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with Stu again in fact I look forward to the prospect.

  6. I bought this on a whim a few weeks ago and I have to say that for the money it’s an amazing instrument. I believe it could probably hold its own tone wise with basses costing two or possibly three times as much.  The set up is great and action is medium low. The tones that you can obtain from this bass are truly wonderful and it would make a very reliable second bass for a gigging bassist and a stellar starter instrument. It would also work well for someone wanting to try a quality 5 string without the need to lay out loads of cash. Condition is pretty much as it left the shop with the exception of a tiny mark which is shown in the photos.  I will include a decent gig bag in the sale. I am happy to meet up with any prospective buyer but prefer not to post as I have not got the original packing box. Collection is also fine.

Any questions please shoot them across.

    Cheers.

  7. Up for sale is my Yamaha BB P34. It’s definitely up there as one of the very best basses I’ve owned and it’s acknowledged by many as one of the finest passive instruments money can by. The condition is very good although there are a few minor playing related scuffs here and there but nothing that’s easy to photograph. There is a very tiny ding by the bridge which I have tried to capture but you need the right light to be able to see it.  The bass plays superbly and sounds wonderful and has been fitted with new DR strings recently. It comes in a very sturdy  hard case which has hardly been out of the house.  I’m not looking for any trades as I am looking to purchase a different bass to satisfy my desire to try a multiscale instrument. £895 is a little more than half price but please feel free to send me any sensible and fair offers. If you are looking to buy a passive 4 string that isn’t the obvious brand then it’s hard to see how you can improve on the Yamaha.
I am based in Wigan and would prefer any potential buyer to collect but I am also happy to meet up somewhere to facilitate a deal.

If you have any questions please do let me know.

  8. Here you have a Spector NS Pulse 5 string in Charcoal Grey sandblasted finish. The bass is only a few weeks old and has hardly been touched. Please think of this as a new instrument as there isn’t a mark of any type anywhere on the bass. New DR strings have just been fitted and this  has definitely improved the playability. The bass plays very well in general, has a medium action and sounds fabulous mainly owing to the combination of quality woods and top grade US EMG pick ups.  I bought this to satisfy my hankering for a 5 string only to end up at the same conclusion as I have after previous  purchases that I am not a 5 string player. I will include a decent padded gig bag which was purchased separately. Delivery may be possible as I often travel for work purposes.

If anyone has a nice four string of equivalent value (Yamaha, Fender) then a trade may be possible, especially for a good quality lined fretless.

However should carriage be necessary it must be at the risk of the purchaser.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

    Thank you.

  9. I am selling my EBS Session 60 bass combo. I have no complaints about this amp it’s a fabulous practice/small gigging unit which is around two months old. As you would expect for something that’s a very recent purchase and has been used only at home the condition is mint.  I don’t have the original box so I am not looking to offer postage, but I am willing to meet interested parties within a 40/50 mile radius of my home in the Wigan area.

If anyone is looking for a really simple practice/rehearsal solution which sounds excellent and is a one hand carry then look no further. I am confident that this is going to be a bargain for someone.  Please don’t be shy get in touch if you have any questions.

  10. Cameron recently bought a Boss Waza Air Bass system from me. He was a real pleasure to deal with. Comms were great throughout and payment swift. Highly recommended purchaser with whom I would gladly do business again.
