Personally, I would only go custom if I couldn’t get it through an production instrument. I find that my tastes change as a player, sometimes even within the time period that a custom bass would take to arrive. Depreciation is generally HORRENDOUS with customs, especially if you’ve gone for something unorthodox (which is possible if it’s something you haven’t found in a production instrument). I like biding my time and waiting for secondhand customs etc which match what I want. It’s a fun game, and if you change your mind and decide to move it on, it generally hasn’t cost you anything to try it out.

I agree with this nowdays - I don't think I'll ever get a custom bass again, I've had 3 made for me specifically in the past - I don't own any of them now (I am pretty sure people on this forum do though!)

However, in regards to 4 or 5 - that is completely personal, and all the basses I had custom made were 4 string (I think!)

I have a twin to this. Same colour, neck and body but standard headstock, Delanos and a J East pre. I call mine the Jaffa!

I ordered the first shuker orange bass like this year's ago, and called it the Jaffa jazz, sold it, but whoever has it will know if it was this first one as if they take the neck off, it has funk written on it by Mr Shuker on my request haha. It had Delano's and was based on my Sandberg.

Anyway, great price for a bass like this, just compare it to the price of a mex fender!

  3. Howdy, used to be a member here for years, but signed up again - think its the same username?!

Anyway, bet there are a few of my old basses around here from ACG to Shuker!  Who has my old Shuker Jaffa Jazz bass?!  Haha.

  4. I've not really posted much here for years, but anyway, thought this might be of interest to some, just back from holiday in the US and while there I went for a tour of the Fender Factory in Corona.

Some pictures (from my phone sorry, didn't take a proper camera) below, as its kinda interesting.

Strangely, you cannot buy anything from them unless you have an American address, they do this build series thing where you can basically get an instrument built, but only if you are in America - they only just stopped this being available to anyone who lived anywhere, and had cheap shipping even, but alas its no more - saw a couple of the instruments from that on the line though (picture below).

The photo order is backwards, sorry, took ages to paste the links! Not sure how to use the media on this site anymore!!

Bookends I got from the shop, they are actually made in Mexico though!

  5. Sorry, unsure where to put this.

But a number of years back, probably in 2009 or so, I sold a PRS Custom 24 20th Anniversary Guitar on here. I got this guitar from a mate, and now that mate wants to see if I can find it so he can buy it back (along with another guitar of mine I sold which he loved and passed up the opportunity to buy! But that was on harmony central).

Anyway, I remember selling this to the guitarist of a bassist on here, his wife collected it from Peterborough.

I managed to find some pictures! I have more if it would help anyone.

  6. Bassist available in the Leeds area, I am just outside in Pool in Wharfedale.

Played for years, but went travelling and quit my band so haven't been in a band for almost 2 years now I think it is.

I've played most types of music (and even recording/gigged on guitar/drums too), but I'm not really interested in generic indie. Hip-hop, funk, or even rock/metal/hardcore would be preferred. Got an amp again now, so ready to gig. Will consider covers bands.

  7. I've had this since new, I custom ordered it, custom orange colour and all, barely been played, never gigged, but I did record once with it, you can hear that here: -

Since quitting my last band and moving to Canada I've not played much even though I'm now back in England (didn't take this bass or others with me - bought a squier out there), would rather the cash for other things.

  8. This is in England at my folks place in Peterborough (I'm in North America right now), its as new, never gigged, used for a couple of band practices and one recording session. Selling only as I have no band (as I'm abroad) and I want cash for when I get home in a few months.

It was used for this track - http://soundcloud.co...tions-first-mix

  9. This has never left the house, used to use it for recording stuff, but, its been sat at my folks for years now.

Fantastic shape, only marks I can see on it are from stickers (took most of them off!)

Would much prefer collection (Peterborough), postage only if you arrange it, I will pack, you can arrange collection by a courier.

    Reduced to £30 now.

  10. Since I've left my band I don't need this, I love these pedals though, and I've only ever once used an amp in the studio instead of one of these or the rackmount version!

I actually got it from someone here, but can't remember who!

£100 posted, it's in top shape with box (will get a photo if you really want, but check my feedback). NO OFFERS.

  11. Put it up here, just got it from the studio: -

    http://soundcloud.com/fosker/01-furious-nations-first-mix

It's a Shuker Jazz, passive, via a Sansamp, theres a bit of tapping in the middle there and stuff.

    Basschat exclusive! Haha.

  12. I am thinking about selling my Conklin, although, not sure as I have owned it longer then pretty much anything else.

Got it probably in 2001, my folks picked it up from Dallas for me (from a Guitar Center), and it was pretty much all I used for a couple of years (along with a GT4 I then imported from America as I liked my GT5 so much).

It has signs of use as you'd expect, its not new.

    £499

Collection from Peterborough is preferred, but could be shipped at cost.

    Will get proper photos ASAP.
