1. I'm going to get rid of my Lakland 5501 and get a 4 string Jazz Bass (any takers?) I've been thinking of a 2008/09 series American standard Jazz Bass as I have tried a couple and they seem to be very good. But thought I would ask if anyone knows of anything else I should be considering (below £1000) that's available in the UK and does the Jazz Bass thing very well.

 7. German, Five String (low b string) circa 1985, laminated, swell back, brass tuners on half plates, brown varnish (string length 104cm; back length 108.5cm) Excellent instrument currently set up for pizz (jazz) but also works well for arco. B string works very well - plenty of sustain and mwahhh Good clear and characterful sound - amplifies well with KK Bass Max pickup (not included in sale) Recently had the fretboard dressed - medium low action This bass has a fair amount of "mojo" (see pictures) but nothing structural and is, to my eyes, far nicer looking than many of the orange high gloss instruments available in this price range Including: Good quality and good condition black nylon padded case with plenty of pockets and handles and a carrying strap Thomastik Spirocore strings on the bass - new from August 2008. Been gigged 4 times, otherwise just home practice. (These cost about £140 new) Spare set of (fairly well used) Thomastik Spirocores - low B is an unidentified string French style bow with black hair - good condition (+ rosin) Young family means no time for practice and small house means no space for a redundant double-bass Looking for £975 ono

Selling bits and bobs to make my moving out easier. Q TRON - all of you know what it does and it does it well. 60 posted.... or even 50 if local pickup is arranged Oc-3 super octaver - its quite nice but I dont use it. 45 delivered. I used to run the two together to make a P Funk sound with the Qtron drive down. It sounded luuuuuuvly. Let me know if interested. Oh yeah, I have a Warwick streamer stage I for sale with gigbag and flight case. 600 quid..... Jut a thought.
10. Hi, I have a GK150 MB which I am very happy with but am starting to do some louder soul type gigs and need more bottom end. I'm thinking to get a lightweight 1x15 cab as an add-on to the GK and depending on how these louder gigs go may sell the GK and get something like a MarkBass LMII. So, I'm looking for something small, light, loud, deep and cheap! I realise I'm not going to get all of these but any recommendations would be gratefully received. And if anyone has anything suitable for sale let me know - if I go 2nd hand I may be able to get all my requirements!
 11. I bought a 5 string double bass last September but have found I don't have enough time to practice. I am thinking of selling and am just gauging if anyone would be interested in buying it. It's a German plywood bass made around 1980. It has a very good pizz tone - I think arco is OK but I don't use the bow much so wouldn't like to say. It's set up for pizz - reasonable action and a good tone with new Thomastik spirocores. I have put a K&K bass max pickup on it which works very well. It's a nice looking bass - a kind of mid brown colour and looks fairly aged. A few scuffs but all cosmetic. The B string works very well - strong and full with loads of sustain. When I bought it I was worried that the B string would be hard to master but it's not a problem at all and is great for funk tunes or the last note on a ballad. It has a bow - not high quality but adequate. Also a good padded case with lots of pockets and a carry strap. Contact me via this forum if interested. Sensible offers only. Could provide pics if interested. I am based in Worthing, West Sussex.
 12.
I disagee, this book is a complete load af sh*te, total waste of £20 sterling completely overhyped
I disagree with that. I have had the Bass Bible for 10 years and find it a constant source of inspiration. It has basslines from rock through soul and funk, to latin, a whole chapter on African basslines and much more. Not a tutor book or a theory book but full of great lines in all styles.
 13. Just a note to say hello to all at Basschat and good to see a UK bass forum!
