Black Rebel Motorcycle Club did a meet and greet at a record shop, in Belfast, once. They were playing that evening. I took my baby daughter along. Apparently Peter Hayes was a tad hungover, so didn't turn up. Robert and Leah played a few acoustic songs. My daughter was getting a bit restless after a while and Robert asked the audience to move in a bit closer. He said something along the lines of "Bring the baby too". I got my copy of "Beat The Devil's Tattoo" signed by them both.
Non-music related - I met George Best at a book signing once and got my photo taken with him.

In the Gypsy Kings cover of 'My Way' the bloke sings 'I'm not a mouse'
My fave though is a misunderstood rather than a misheard. When I was a nipper I honestly thought that Israel had a King called King Born because they made us sing 'born is the king of Israel' at the primary school carol concert.
An old neighbour of mine used to work as a nurse on a children's ward. One Christmas a patient had painted a nativity scene, but in the corner there was a large circular shape. My neighbour asked what that was and the child replied "That's Round John Virgin"

I think once as a bassist, quite a few times when I was on Robot Wars - the queue to get in ran past the pits and people would ask us to sign their programmes.
Which one were you? Sir Killalot? Dead Metal?

Of course, everyone's assuming Bluewine's referring to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. You may all be totally misleading him because he actually means Newcastle-under-Lyme, home of Newcastle Town F.C., currently in the Northern Premier League West Division.
Don't forget Newcastle, Co Down, nestling in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains...

I'm sure somewhere there's a crestfallen civil servant asking "All I want is these bastids to pay their tax, is that too much to ask?
Nah, he's actually saying "I'm buggered if I know what's supposed to happen" 😄

I had the same problem with Maiden in my teenage years but love a bit of Maiden now.
I also hated Megadeath because of Mustains vocals and 25 years later nothing has changed.
I was never a big fan of Megadeth. I didn't mind them, but never got into them. I think it was Mustaine's vocals that did it for me too. He always sounded like he was trying to squeeze out a particularly solid poo.

Until quite recently the old customs post was still in Belfast Central Station, albeit no longer in use. People used to come up form the republic to buy stuff like butter and take it home because it was much cheaper. Newry used to do a thriving trade in cross-border shopping, especially coming up to Christmas. About 25 years ago, fuel was cheaper south of the border and people would actually drive from Belfast to Dundalk to fill their cars.

I don't normally like gold hardware, but it looks good with that blue.

I don't think songs are sped up. I'm mostly playing punk rock songs, finger style as well as picking. This requires very fast playing. During live shows songs are often played even faster than on the CD. It's just a matter of getting used to it.
I was reading about the Beatles "She's Leaving Home", yesterday. Apparently it was sped up slightly for the stereo version to make Paul sound younger.

AsI mentioned earlier in the thread, one of my bands has been playing our cover of "I Believe In Father Christmas" and this year we've released it as a single. The video has just been released too:
Really good cover. The bass sounds great.

The live album "Show" is great.

I've had a metal pick in my case for about 30 years. I've no idea where it came from and don't think I've ever used it, apart from to see what it sounded like.

Just an update on this. I bought a mega cheap rig for myself as an early Christmas/birthday present, and I'm loving 6 strings!
I've got a Harley Benton TE20 - can't fault it for the money, although the fretboard is too flat. Into a harley benton Tube15 - this is amazing for the money. Sounds better to my ears than some very expensive rigs I've heard people play through.
Pilfered an analogue delay off me bass board. Added a behringer SF300 fuzz. Crank the reverb and gain on the amp. Roll off the volume for cleaner stuff. Instant Rock n Roll!
Lot of people would say I'm not even learning guitar, cuz I got frustrated with the irregular third interval on the top 2 strings, so I just tuned them up to C and F so the whole fretboard is in 4ths. I'm basically playing a 6 string bass tuned an octave high. 😅
I got the same guitar about six months ago and it really is excellent for the money. I've considered getting that amp too. I believe it is a clone of the Laney Super Cub 12

It has a very NWOBHM feel to it, which I quite like, but yeah, the vocals are very annoying.

That's a strange one. It's as if Fender were making a left handed offset body guitar, but someone forgot and carved the bottom of the body, for the arm, rather than the top. The bridge, trem arm, and pickguard all look homemade.

That looks great. I love the cracking on the sunburst finish

Disgraceful that there's no mention of Andy Rourke in this thread.
