I think my issue is more with right handers and the hundreds of options they have, and generally lower prices, playing left handed instruments.

If I wanted to swap out the standard Maruszczyk 4 string bridge for a Gotoh or Fender bridge, would it leave unsightly holes visible?

That is very optimistic, I saw one on EBay go for less than £100 not long back.

The Bruce Thomas Profile bass - it seems to get a lot of love and he seems very pleased with how it turned out. He had an awful lot of input to the design, right down to mixing paint to get the right shade of "salmon pink".
