1. Final bump before I take it back to meet its maker in Camden on Wednesday! That'll mean a slight increase in price as he'll charge 15% commission on top.
2.
34' scale urge bass
That's one MASSIVE bass!
3. BUMP now with price added...looking for £2000 folks! Apologies in advance if I take a while to get back to people on this - I've set up the topic to be tracked, but I'm not getting email notification of replies, despite it telling me I am!
4. And here are the rest of the pics:
5. Hey everybody, I've wrestled with this decision for a while, but I think the time's come. I'm letting my baby go This is a Millenium bass from Sei (Martin Petersen). He was only going to make ten of these and to my knowledge that amount hasn't been ordered. This is number 4. It's a buckeye burl wood with a thick gloss. The fingerboard's ebony, and the bass has Sims LEDs on the front and top. Bernie Goodfellow designed a 'brain' circuit for these which controls how they flash (or not) with nine different settings on a control knob. It's a thru-neck, 35" scale with a shallow depth, wide string spacing and bookmatched coverings for the batteries - 2x9v (one for the pre-amp and one for the LEDs). The pickups are Barts which were specifically made for the instrument, and it also has a piezo bridge with a blend control. The rear magnetic pickup has a coil-tap. Here's one photo to keep you going until I can salvage the rest from the camera. I'd welcome any questions and of course try-outs are welcome. There's a couple of dings which I tried to capture but the bass is too shiny for them to show up! It could do with an allen key on the bridge right now after I bodged up the height of the G string but if you know what you're doing it'll take seconds to sort. This is now at the Gallery in Camden. Feel free to contact them with any questions. It's going as I'm now just not the sort of player that does 6-string and can't now justify holding onto it on the off-chance that will happen. I've held onto it for a while longer than necessary while I try to adjust to life without it, but I haven't even taken it on a gig in a while now.
6. Indeed it does - I can't guarantee it's the original one as I bought it second-hand, but it works with the unit.
7.
Personally, I really like the few Sadowsky 5 string basses I've tried, but they're a 34" scale, so may not suit you.
Maybe it's time to revisit them - I tried one before I got the Lakky but wasn't immediately sold on the sound. I'm obviously becoming fussy in my old age! Ped - that looks fantastic but all the gigs I do now tend to require me to be playing something much more traditional looking (unfortunately!)
8. This has some great sounds on it, but I tend to do everything via software now so it's no longer needed. No box, but I've got some paperwork to go with it and a PSU. I'm looking for £100 including UK shipping - I've just seen a new one on eBay for £175 so grab yerself a bargain!!!
9. This is a great unit that I used primarily as a recording interface with my PC - now surplus to requirements. I bought this off a fellow BW'er and it comes in box with Cubase LE - looking for £40 (incl. shipping).
10. Hi all, I'm shortly selling my Sei Millenium 6 as I don't really use it as a 6-string anymore. I also have a Corvette $$ 5 but tonally I'm not entirely happy. It does a great MM (and to a certain extent Jazz) impression, but tends to really thin out on the higher notes. Can anybody recommend something that looks a bit more traditional but remains beefy throughout the sonic range? I'm more drawn to 35" scale (more through comfort than anything else) and wide string spacing, but still could do with some sonic versatility. I've previously owned a Lakky 55-02 which was great, but again thinned out up top a bit. Sustain has also been a bit of an issue with the $$ so would this mean looking at through-necks? Despite saying traditional, I quite like the look of the Streamer LX BN versions. Perhaps not quite so old-school looking, but definitely more so than the Sei (see avatar/myspace!)
11. If I had waited years to see a musical hero, then got down to the front of the stage and had water thrown on me and swore at because of the actions of some other people, I'd very quickly change my view of them. Those people taking photos were in the wrong (IF a warning HAD been given), but to take mass action like that was IMO very bad form.
12. I've recently switched from PC to Mac and found Garageband great for sketchpad ideas, running through an Edirol UA-25. If you're looking for more 'polished' sounding recordings, Logic Express should do the trick for most things - I've just done bass for a couple of Guitar Techniques columns and it's been deemed good enough for that (and the music editor has a reputation for being fussy!)
13.
These guys (and gals) are also pro's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF4YdyUeSIk
Has anybody checked out the tags for this video? Still, at least they're giving it a go. Plus, it shows what can happen when there's no bassist up there holding things together!
14. Down once more to £350, will somebody please come and take this?! I'm moving this Saturday, and I'm trying to avoid getting out of lugging what I can!!!
15. be)--> QUOTE(Lenny be @ Jun 11 2007, 05:27 PM) Are you studying with Stefan Redtenbacher? He's a great player.
I am indeed. More importantly, a great musician and teacher. He helped me out loads about 3 years ago when I started to go 'pro' and it's great to be back under him (so to speak). I've seen your articles on copyright (your specialised subject looking at my course notes!) in various magazines and I gotta say they've always been fantastically written and well thought out! [/hijack thread]
16. Ahhh, you got me - I just work here... In that case it's unlikely there will be much in Newcastle for 18+, but it may still be worth giving Phil Castang a call to make sure - if there's only a small uptake then you may find they'll throw it open to all ages.
17.
Hi Terry, I think I asked about this last time you posted, but everything (for Newcastle) seems aimed at age 11-18yrs. What is there for us older folk (if anything?).
As far as I know, there's plenty for the over 18s! As I said, Newcastle is a new event, but going by Bath the majority of people are actually over 25. Whilst the classes are mixed age, we've certainly had no trouble combining the two and they're certainly geared towards a more 'mature' age! The nightly jams finish early for the under-18s, and there's a bar all night for everybody that's old enough to drink. I'd recommend contacting Phil Castang or Emmanuelle Ginn (details on www.igf.org.uk) if you have any particular concerns about that. Last year I distinctly remember having dentists, gardeners etc on the course. Specifically, I'd say that it's a great chance to make some new friends, talk about and play music all day and night, and all in a great social atmosphere. It's very informal too, so hasn't got the whole 'school' vibe about it.
18. Hey guys, I posted this on BW/BT, but thought it bore repeating on here! Stu Hamm is coming over to the UK to offer two weeks of bass tuition over the summer (one in Newcastle, one in Bath). This would be a fantastic opportunity to study up close and personal (the class sizes would be very small) with an enormously talented player. I believe the take-up has been fairly slow so I'd get in there pretty quick - it's not often opportunities like that come around! Details are at www.igf.org.uk and while I'm plugging things, Paul Francis (Gallileo, JTQ) will be doing a funk course and I'll be doing a 'Bassics' course. I don't know how the Newcastle one will work, but traditionally in Bath it's a great chance to totally immerse yourself in all things music. Concurrently there's several guitar courses and drum courses, so as well as the classes there's loads of opportunities to play at the nightly jam nights and there's normally some great artists putting on gigs during the period. If anybody has any questions, feel free to PM me or ask on here - it'd be a great shame to have somebody like Stu come over and not be taken full advantage of! (as it were)
19. As with all these places, it's what you make of it more than what they teach IMO. If players have come out of there being a bit orthodox, I wouldn't necessarily put that down to the teachers/course. But Dave is a fantastic musician, so if he does teach there that would be a good thing for you! I can't speak for London, but I'm currently doing a degree at the ACM in Guildford and there's plenty of diversity and scope to take your career where you want it there - I'd imagine most similar places are the same. Perhaps look more at the facilities/location and opportunities outside of the course that they provide.
20. I believe www.hearingprotection.co.uk has a list of dealers etc.
21. I've recently been rooting around my old pedals, and my BF-2B has found it's way back into the chain!
22. Quick bump on this - I've had a look at the Andertons website and the RRP there is £799, down to £649 making this a bit of a bargain!
23. Exactly as it says in the title! Gigged, but in dandy condition. Also recently had a guy clean out the insides, so it's as good as new! Try-outs welcome with own head/bass, as there's no way I'm shipping this! I'm based in Surbiton, which is SW London/Surrey borders. I'm moving on the 23rd June, so I could really do without having to shift it to the new place just for it to gather dust.....
