2. The colour will also go up the fret board and fade into natural around the 10th fret. He did the same thing on one of his mega pointy death machine guitars he made and I liked it. Here is a pointy guitar he made with a similar fading up the neck.
3. Some tested colours on the offcuts image hosting 30 mb
4. I have those pads on my car dash, that's a great idea. I've been lent a NS Design NTX4 to try for a couple of days, so far I'm not really digging it. The strings are really not very good though and this is probably the larger part of it, I wonder if anyone has ever string one with guts before. I'm more into thumping jazz bass as opposed to super long sustained thin notes.
5. Thank you all for the insight. I was swayed heavily towards the SLB200, but Mr Bassman just threw a curveball in there with the Mo Clifton. I just searched around and found a demo of one, well impressed. Thank you for the kind offer Mr Bassman, I'm about an 1:45 drive away from Harrogate but I may take you up on your offer at some point in the future thank you very much.
6. Ahh yes, you will be the chap with the 5 string blue BSX. I did watch your video a few times, it's where I saw the arm out the back and imagined it would be hard to get the neck to your shoulder for thumb position with the arm there? I think the rolling problem will be the kicker for me though, I have a knackered, tired and weak wrist that can't support a rolling bass with my thumb. Ta Paul
7. Ok, so I'm looking at getting an EUB for an easy life and I've only managed to get hands on with a couple to try but the KK Baby bass and the STAGG both suffered the same comfort issue for me. They seem to want to roll around the body when using arm weight and I had to counter this with pressure from my thumb in the back of the neck. I couldn't get a good standing comfortable posture with these basses. I had a look at the BSX series but I haven't had change to try one. They seem to have an arm coming out the back to rest against the body. Can anybody with experience with these basses say if they suffer the same roll effect or not? There is also limited audio/video of these basses being played so I'm still not entirely sure what they sound like. Ultimately the closest bass I've come across on't t'interweb that looks like it would be suitable and comfortable due to the upper bout and optional knee rest is the SLB200 but I can't find any shops with one actually in stock to try that doesn't involve a trek halfway across the UK. I've searched forums but people mostly focus on the sound and less so on the playability. Does anybody have experience with the SLB200 that could share some light on the comfort and playability? Cheers Paul
8. Also recommend Sam Wells for setups and such, outstanding work performed on my own basses.
9. Ok, it's been a while as I needed to pop round to get the forearm rest shaped to my arm and decide pickup locations before it could progress any further. I popped up yesterday and decided the cutaway wasn't deep enough as I couldn't reach the top fret at all so that has been tweaked too. Oh and had a finger ramp made too. Nearly there now! 10. I A/B/C/D'd the MB fusion 500, 800 and MB 500, 800 when deciding which to buy. To be honest all are great sounding amps, it really is just the difference of valve gain v solid state. Both types can do clean and both types can do grind. I went with the fusion 800 for more headroom and to my ears, warmer sounding pre.
11. Wings have been glued on and rough shaping has commenced, plus a bonus wet rag wipe to make the grain pop
12. I'm currently on the hunt for an amp as backup to fit in a rack after my main head died mid wedding gig last week. Do you know if this will fit in a single 1u rack space? Ta

The excess wood around the fretboard has been removed Back of the neck, It's going to be asymmetrical Another view of the back of the neck An idea of thickness
15. I like heavy a heavy bass, I don't feel right playing light ones. Chambering was offered but I declined
16. Ze frets have been added
17. Hi Bass chatters, I thought I would share the ongoing process of a build I'm having done by a chap local to me that I found by Google. He has some serious wood skills! https://www.facebook...uitars/?fref=ts if anyone is interested in his work. He's a sound chap and has great pride in his work. His builds are usually more pointy but he will accommodate anyone It's going to be a single cut 6 string with Nordy big singles and a hand made preamp with active/passive The initial drawing he made from my garbled sketches The top, I think it was poplar burl of some description Zebra wood for the fretboard Wenge with a maple strip and the top glued on for the body The neck glued, it will have two truss rods. 3 strips of Wenge with 2 blood red Padauk strips The neck lined up with the cut template the neck shaping will begin this week and I'll be going round on Friday to have a grope and fine tune the feel.
18. And back up for sale again..
19. Sold pending the usual
20. Uparoo, and to reiterate, no trades please.
21. I was seriously considering BF cabs, I test drove a few before I commissioned the Greenboy cab. It was a close call but what threw it is that it would be a custom cab and Ed Friedland's review. Plus they sound killer with upright bass too.
22. I think they are 12", 5" and 1" If I remember correctly. Either way it's safe to say it sounds great. It gets louder than my TC stack I had previously (2x10 and 1x12) and louder than my pf500 with 2 cabs (2x10 and 1x15) without getting farty and staying clear
23. My recent F112 build from the nice chaps at TrickyAudio in the UK. I thought I would make it a bit more of a tarts handbag so I added some LED's to it. These cabs are amazing, I'm never going to use anything else I don't think, apart from a second F112 at some point! I love the fact these cabs do such a good representation of what my basses actually sound like without adding much colour.
