    It's 2023, haven't we really gone beyond the, 'What's good for <insert genre here>?'

Anything goes for any genre.  It should be pretty easy in this day and age to dial in any tone, irrespective of the shape of the instrument delivering it.

Yes. I absolutely agree. But no-one so far has been able to recreate "Heft". Which is impossible to digitally recreate and is almost solely owned and employed by Trace Elliott. 😆

I'm from all over really but studied in Leeds, then lived in Huddersfield and Halifax for a few years. Never lived anywhere else as long until I moved to London... What about thee?

Am from a little mining village in middle earth, in-between Doncaster, Barnsley, Wakefield and Pontefract. Although I think I've almost lived more of my life outside Yorkshire than I did in. But I reckon if you snapped me in half like a stick of rock it would still say "Yorkshire" in the middle. 😉

I’ve had that happen a couple of times. And one otherwise un memorable evening a female punter stumbled while trying to dance and put her head through the hole in the front of the kick drum.

I hope the drummer continued playing. 😆

  4. I think it's more or less just an esthetic thing.

I used to prefer the looks of a more modern bass ( my tastes are slowly changing ) For a good few years I've played a Traben as my main bass, and they're very much considered "metal". The band I'm in is about as far from metal as you can get, and the thing sounds absolutely sublime with an excellent tonal range that would fit nicely in any genre.

On the other side of the coin you have people like Steve Harris who almost defined the genre and has happily played a P Bass for decades.

Yeah, they are a great guitar in their own right. You don’t need to use any of the emulation either to get a good sound. They’ll stand up against a LP, PRS or a Yammy SG without a problem. They are in a different league from their predecessors.

It's a shame they were never more creative with the bass version which just looks crap by comparison.

  6. The thing I really like about these are that they look like "proper" instruments with a quality build. Rather than the cheaper models that have a digital toy vibe about them.

If happily play this on stage (if I were a guitarist) and the vast majority of people would just assume it was a regular Les Paul or one of the many clones without even realising what was going on under the hood.

  7. I don't think it's either a bot or any kind of scam.

As stated above, it's an auto-generated message to start a dialogue with a seller. No more, no less.

Some people will maybe be interested in something, then circumstances change, or they find it cheaper and never follow up.

    People are fickle like that.

Same venue, few months later.... utterly smashed lass knocks over an entire PA stack stage right, then some ar5e think's its a laugh to steal vocalists radio mic, during audience participation bit... Venue has closed now.

    Shame. 🙄

SH1tFACED of Barnsley... staggers and kills the floor and starts getting monk on when we (Band) don't know a Gareth Gates song.

I believe he fell down a flight of stairs afterwards.

    Yeah "fell". 😉

Thank you very much for the replies. I really like the look of the Zoom MS60B and it looks like just another pedal so will pit onto my existing board :) Certainly worth a punt.

Yeah they're ridiculously good value for money too. They often come up on here for around 60 quid or less.

  11. If you're buying for the first time or experimenting with many different sounds, then for me a multi effects pedal is the way to go.

If you're happy with the sounds you're getting from individual pedals then I wouldn't see the need to swap for a multi effects unit, which can often be very complicated to set up.

A good compromise is the zoom MS60B.

A total Swiss army knife pedal that will slot into your existing pedal board and give you almost unlimited effects options.
