  1. Hi everyone,

    Hope you’re all keeping well.

Selling my perfect 2018 Sire V7 First Gen Marcus Miller 5 String due to lack of playing time on it mainly due to my Sire P7 fiver and Sire V7 5 fretless ( amongst other tasty bass distractions). Bought this new Dec 2018 and it has a 6 month old set of D’Addario nickel roundwounds on it. The allen keys are included and Free UK delivery and it really is in Mint Condition . Alder Body, dark rosewood fretboard with a lovely ivory binding to it. Perfect working order too. Neck set almost straight B  is 2mm off 12th fret ( fretted at 1st ) and G 1.6 ish and there’s plenty of play either way left for the saddle heights for you to adjust. 9lbs 15oz, 4.5kg. OK for a Fiver but not lightweight.

Gave it a polish and just a little Nomad A1 fretboard oil today ( a clean really, I oiled it fully in July) and only a quick fret polishing needed for them to shine so it will get to you sparkling. Great basses these in passive or active and the Tone control actually works whilst in Active so with the Mids having a frequency sweep control as well you’re spoilt for choice.

No swirling on the bass anywhere , no dents or owt, no nuffink! Not even a case! It didn’t come with one. I’ll pack it in it’s Marcus Miller box and that will be inside a larger box well padded. Couldn’t fault it when it arrived and that’s how it still is.

Enjoy the pics. Notice the nice wavy maple grain on the neck towards the body. I like it anyway.

Here are the Specs and photos. PM me to buy it, very fair Black Wednesday price is £325 with free UK delivery so I’ll wait for that thank you because it’s Mint. Cheers all and I sincerely wish you well. Quent.

  2. Hi guys,

I have recently replaced the full Pre Amp system in my Warwick Thumb 4 Dirty Blonde Ltd Ed 2006 so the old one is up for grabs. Bought the bass on Basschat a year ago ( Dec).

3 Pots Push Pull ( Pre amp or Not ) on the dual Vol/Blend 500k, Mids 100k pot, then Dual Treb Bass 100k each with pull up for MM single coil

Although the pre amp works fine and is Silent when not engaged ( Push Pull)  I thought it a bit too

hissy when the Pre Amp is engaged ( MEC Gold label Active pickups P and MM ) but I’ve since found out that is actually normal on some basses ( even though I have a few basses I must have been lucky re active noise ) so a Noise Gate is all that’s needed to keep the bass at bay when not playing. The new replacement is identical apart from a couple of part number changes on circuit diagram as you’ll see below.

So my brand spanking new MEC M60057 one from Warwick and Pro fitted has the same lively hiss when engaged but at least I have a future proofed system in my lovely bass. I’m no Techy so please check out the diagrams and photos and PM me if you’re interested. Check my Feedback and I have been using this Preamp in the bass for nearly a year so it’s working as it should ( to quote my Luthier).

Luthier Steve said the Jack Socket is the only thing that has an issue, the jack will be slightly loose in it but I used it for a year and had no problem. Steve removed the preamp with a resale in mind for me so the leads are all there and there are some plug in type connections.

No knobs as they’re on my bass. That’s all I know  so don’t ask me about compatibility as I had a like for like replacement.

Cheers fellas and I hope you’re keeping safe. ( The Vaccines sounds familiar as a band name ). All the best. Quent

  3. Just bought a 2002 ESP LTD Dlx J-1004 from Michael at a good price

especially considering theJohn East Uni Pre mod, metal nut and Detuner.

Well packed and quickly despatched with great comms. Friendly and very good of Mike to honour the Detuner offered, much appreciated.

Thanks again and WIELD that Bass man !!

    Quent

  4. I thoroughly recommend Nick aka GrammeFriday for a friendly and smooth sale with a fair price.

Great packaging too and prompt delivery booking and despatch as soon as I paid. Yeh, that was the only blot on his copybook, he made me PAY for the bass! Oh well. Despite his tears as he told me of his farewells to his stunning Fender Am Performer PJ in a body hugging mid blue satin number ( the bass, not Nick, though that’s his business ) he deemed me enthusiastic enough to appreciate his now former lover, I mean bass.

Thanks again Nick and I’ll look out for your future offerings.

    Keep safe you lot. Quent

  5. Just handed over my bass to Pat aka Patrikmarky via a guitar stand outside the house for social distancing. Dead easy sale made simple by Pat’s no nonsense comms. Pronto payment once he decided to go for it and kept me informed. Some people don’t and leave you hangin but not this Bass Dude from Narfak ! Thanks again mate and rock that Fender for me as I go deaf with home playing instead ! Yeeharr!

Good luck with your gigs when they restart. Cheers, Quent

  6. Hi Mr Wielder,

Can you tell me the nut width and year of manufacture please?

Thinking of a straight swap with my 2016 Fender Deluxe Active Jazz V MIM

which is currently up for sale at £595 page 3+ to 4 as I write Sunday 10th May. Reduced from £725 initially so fair to you to suggest a straight swap I reckon. I now have an American Elite Jazz V hence me selling or trading for something pretty different.

    Cheers, Quent

Oh, I can remove the sticker blocks of course and would clean the board , they flip off cleanly though they absolutely stay put and don’t affect playability at all. Mine comes with a Fender gig bag. Can you include similar with yours?

  7. ** Bass and Babicz bridge videos added before photos **

In a very dark Navy Metallic finish this hardly used 2015 Fender Active P Bass Special ( MIM ) is absolutely mint. They were made 2005-2016 and are Active Only , with a lovely skunk striped Jazz neck as standard , hence P Bass Special  ( PJ too ). Bought new in May 2016 it has only had occasional home playing time. The Noiseless PJ pickups are awesome and I ended up getting an American Deluxe P which took priority.  I had the bridge replaced professionally with a Gold Babicz bridge which completes the look of the bass and improves the sound of the bass , see Video below.  I’m in Ipswich so I use guitarlodge.co.uk nearby in Felixstowe where Steve Barratt does fantastic work. ( see invoice in photos ). I had this done soon after getting the bass so I’m going to pay for that now by selling. Oh well. Can’t let it go unplayed. The guilt has finally got to me.

I include Euro Sender fully insured delivery , a soft gig bag with tons of bubble protection and each end in a good outer box. The butt end strap button will be in the bag pocket, D’Addario Nickel Rounds slightly loosened etc.

There’s the tag and minor paperwork too ( see photo )

Here is the official info and Spec followed by pics. ( Remember to tap the first one so they all pop up enlarged).

Clean as a whistle too and I’ve oiled the fret board and polished smoother than in pics , just with grain up and down with a fine grade polishing cloth. Frets good and shiny with no wear. If you want to make a close offer that’s OK but I’ll not drop much. Rather leave on it here for ages until someone appreciates it.

Here we go then..........ask away if you need to. Oh, also got 2016 Fender Deluxe Active Jazz V MIM Surf Pearl on here too. Bump for that tomorrow morning. Cheers all and keep safe.

  8. Here’s my Beautiful 2016 hardly used Fender MIMexico Deluxe Active Jazz V bass which is still a current model. Now with excellent condition Fender gig bag . Typical current price new is £969 at GAK so now selling £394 under that , and £1049 on Fender’s site. Grab a bargain price soon before I withdraw the bass from Basschat.

This bass is in excellent condition apart from one tiny body paint chip under the neck pocket , see pics but it’s out of sight and just the Size of a sugar granule. When I got it in Jan 2019 from GGuitar Glasgow there was no adjustment left to lower the action so I’ve shimmed it , full pocket, with a Stewmac maple shim. See pics. Worked a treat and screws just nipped up properly, not over tightened ( thread and gloss finish protection). I’m selling because I was so impressed.......I’ve since bought a preowned Am Elite Jazz V so this is for sale now. Brilliant pickups and totally Noiseless as intended. The EQ is plenty powerful and versatile.

Brand new Fender guard from WD Music still has the film on. Hardly used D’Addario nickel rounds 130-45.

Gigbag is ** Now upgraded to a good Fender Gigbag **  for delivery protection and I’m a good packer. Will use Euro Sender as per recommended by Basschat site.

Weighs 4.4 kg , 9lbs 12 oz. Alder body, lovely paint job, Pau Ferro fretboard with my Adhesive blocks on it but I’ll peel them off if you wish. They don’t leave adhesive behind and I’ll oil/clean the fingerboard afterwards even though  it has a very clean board anyway and was last oiled 6 months ago before being stickerised. They don’t affect playability at all. NO neck dive at all , very well balanced when standing for gigging.

The strap buttons are old black Schaller which it came with and worked for me and my straps. I can put some Fender ones on from another bass. Just let me know.

Here are the Spec and Description with pics below. The one  on a counter ( back view  ) are the ones GGuitar sent me. 2 stock Fender photos at the end.

Any queries fire away as a reply below will help others , and if interested please PM me.

Good luck and Keep Safe you lot !

    Full Description

    Alder Body

The Deluxe Jazz Bass V has an alder body, delivering a strong, full-bodied sound with beefy mids and excellent lows. The wood offers sizzling highs with an incredible sustain, combined with the semi-hollow design produces an improved tele sound. The 5-saddle HiMass bridge improves the sustain and resonance of each note, enhancing the basses attack to create a powerful tone that’s full of personality. The bass also features vintage style, black plastic control knobs, a black pickguard, nickel/chrome hardware, and a surf pearl finish to show of the woods figuring.

Maple Neck and Pau Ferro Fingerboard

The basses maple neck contributes some tightness and cut the overall tonality, creating an edge of sizzle in the highs and bright characteristics. The pau ferro fingerboard helps to fur up the maple's tone, giving it a little warmth and sweetness to produce sparkling highs and thick lows. The maple/pau ferro combination creates an open mid-range with a snappy attack, while its modern “C” shape offers a comfortable play, and its 12” radius and 20 medium jumbo frets provide a familiar feel.

    Vintage Noiseless Jazz Bass Pickups

The Fender Jazz Bass features a pair of Vintage Noisless Jazz Bass pickups positioned in the bridge and middle positions, producing incredible growls and a powerful sonic personality. The bright, full tones of the pickups cut through the mix easily, allowing the bass to be heard clearly while retaining its punch and low end. Also featuring active/passive switching, the Deluxe bass can access both vintage and modern voices, while its 3-band EQ allows control over the treble, mids, and bass.

    Resonant Synthetic Bone Nut

Featuring a carefully fitted synthetic bone nut the Deluxe Jazz Bass delivers an increased resonance and brighter tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and Tusq materials used to construct guitar nuts, synthetic bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.

  9. Ayup. Just sold my Yammy BB1025X to Dandelion and he was an excellent communicator keeping me up to date as to whether he could buy it. Paid me pronto and I highly recommend Kev to all you bassists. A pleasure to deal with.

  10. Hi Silvia, thanks very much for that helpful link to a previous thread.

I’ve read it now and jotted down some makes and their performance qualities

    so I’ll look them up.

Saves others chipping in to help but duplicating the recent thread , much as I would have appreciated it.

Great. Thanks again and I hope you and Basschatters are keeping safe.

  11. Hi you lot, I hope you are all keeping as  safe as possible there.

Like a lot of you I’m playing more on headphones at home than through my rig which I prefer though I’m enjoying Headies more than I used to.

I use Denon DH600 over ear and I think they do a great job BUT perhaps I’m missing out on newer technology? They stopped making the DH600 a few years ago but they’re very comfortable ( I have biggish ears but luckily they don’t stick out like Plug’s in the Bash Street Kids ).

RRP was over £400 but I got both pairs for around £180 each, good as new. I don’t know the detailed spec for comparisons, I just wondered if any of you are ecstatic about the ones you use ( over ear only please ). Mine cope with any bass on the track I’m playing along to as well as my own bass on top ( so I can’t hear the amateur bassist  who played on the recording. Ha! 😄) so I think they do a good job.

Just wondering if I’m missing out though. The Denon’s are only designed for audiophile ? stereo use really.

I plug mi bass into my BP355 Digitech multi effects , wack it up to 99 max volume and it just happens to be loud enough to be exciting without deafening me ( though I am going deaf! Miss the very start of sentences if I’m not looking at who’s talking / telling me off ). Must be a mini amp in there. Music from ipad wires in at same time. Balance the two volumes and play. ( I have all the songs on Youtube now , about 130, and the video plays on a 32 inch monitor via HDMI / lightening adaptor and HDMI lead to telly in my Bassroom ).

Right. I wish you all well and will appreciate any thoughts. I’m OK taking in any technical info but I’m no Sparky!

    Cheers all. Quent

Photo as per my Member info by way of introduction. I never grew up and I’ve no intention to either. Just play at home for last 5 years, 43 pub gigs in the 90s. Then nothing until my boys had left home. Enjoying just playing at home tremendously. Play what I want, when I want.

  12.

This bass is For Sale only so no Trade offers please.

The bass is in fantastic condition having had very little play time before I bought it in 2017 and with me sparingly at home as I have other basses calling for attention too.

The price  includes UPS insured delivery within UK, ( EU please add £15 )with gigbag and loads of bubble wrap in a strong guitar box.

Perfect working order, no wear and super clean. 4.7kg 10lbs 6oz. Just gave frets a polish and oiled the lovely stripy RWood fretboard. Please see extra pics at end. These pickups are very quiet , no hiss or hum as sometimes reported on forums.

    Serial HMM023105 H=1 M=6 yamaha coding , so 166 means 2016 June manufacture.

Zoom in on the Tort guard I made as the bevel is slightly wobbly despite an excellent fit at neck, pickup and control plate. If you don’t want it please tell me. There ‘s an unused black guard included (YamahaMusicLondon).

Tiny imperfection on headstock tip but smooth and hardly noticeable and small dink inside lower horn curve. See pics.

Selling as I have a BB1024 for passive and another A/P Yamaha so ones got to go, superb as it is.

Please fire away with questions or PM me if you wish to have it. I can arrange pickup from me by UPS tomorrow if you  get in quick.

BB1025 has employed a 3-piece body structure with which its bridge is placed on the center piece in order to translate the maximum amount of string vibration to the body. Instead of simply gluing wood pieces, we insert a Maple plate, called "Spline", into a slot on its joint sections. By doing that, Yamaha has succeeded in obtaining as much body vibration as a 1-piece body with this 3-piece body structure connected with two splines.

    Diagonal Body Thru Stringing

In Diagonal Body Thru Stringing, strings are angled 45 degree at the saddle to reduce the stress and secure their tension. Moreover, because the attachment area of strings to saddles is larger than conventional vertical stringing, much better transmission of vibration is obtained.

    Pickups

Both front and rear pickups are specially invented for this particular series. Pursuing ultimate passive sound, "Open Face Pickups" are used to cope with even aggressive picking of rock players.

    5-Piece Neck

These necks consist of Maple and Nato. It provides durability and prevents necks from warping and curling.

    Nickel Silver Nut

Nickel Silver is selected for nut. It is the same material with fret wires. Unlike conventional bone or artificial ivory nut, it gives the same sound quality and feeling even when open notes are played. For any bass players it is a crucial part of well-defined low end.

It is a beautiful clean bass and has had very limited playing time.
