Thanks to the wise words of @nilebodgers who correctly identified the issue, the cable is now sorted so it's much appreciated. This morning I took the new plug off, stripped off the extra shielding layer on the insulated core and re-soldered the cable back up and all is good once more.

I am interested in upgrading from my Fender and had a quick look through the basses for sale section and could only see pages of electric basses. I used the search facility and two did show and perhaps that answers my question....there's not enough of them about to warrant a separate section?

 

I still think it could be useful members might be a bit more invested in advertising them if they were destined to be lost in the plethora of electric basses.

It sounds okay - no massive bottom-end unsurprisingly, but very usable.

The construction is a bit shoddy - I'm no joiner as I pointed out, so won't be going into mass production, but I'll draw up scale plans & hinstructions if anyone is hinterested.

Those Lidl trolleys are good for the money. I got one a couple of years ago & it's been dead useful for loads of stuff, especially when I was doing a bit of panic-buying at the beginning of Lockdown #1, and for carrying Jerry cans from the garage the other week.
