Bernard Fowler (?) was featured in a programme the other evening, on one of the Freeview channels, it seems he’s been a 'member' of the Stones for over 30 years, even covering on lead vocals while Mick's 'gone for a pee'.

Networked iPad on stand with Me-i in-ears personal mixer in Church band, which includes talk-back.

Both are useful, to deal seamlessly with any changes 'on the hoof'.

Just got home from seeing Andy Fairweather Low locally in Tring, with his bigger band - Lowriders and Highriders.

Such a versatile bloke, nearly 71 years of age, OK, a couple of the old Amen Corner songs might have come down a key or two, but still brilliant, a description which also fits the band.

Great evening, and only 10 minutes from home!

I went to see the BBC Concert Orchestra last night, and noticed that all the Double Basses had an extra 'appendage' alongside the head.  Although I was in the second row, I wasn’t close enough to count the strings, but is this for a 5th string?

BBC Concert Orchestra at Maida Vale studio last night, plus various singers, recording a programme for Radio 2 to be broadcast at Easter.

20-odd years on and off, had to give up regular guitar playing, because of RA in my fretting hand: tried to re-learn drums, but again too painful.  Hope I can continue with the bass though, but a nearly 72 years of age, everything is slowing down........

Never given it a thought, tbh.  But I only remove my watch to go in the shower, so it’s like it’s part of me.

You are correct in that GH championed the ukulele (I’ve had various examples myself, only sold when arthritis meant I couldn’t play properly, so I’m not biased against them), but it doesn’t change what IMO Sir Paul did to the song.

And as I said, his bass on the original is brilliant.

Just the two, one for each bass!  First a plain black leather, with straplocks, the other, a leather one I’ve had for around 50 years which I use on the EB3.

Always been a fan of Joe Brown, so the latter is adorned with small horse brasses, which I  copied from JB's on his 335 Gibson back in the day.

The unfortunate bit is that to fix the brasses on, the strap ceased to be adjustable, so in recent years I’ve had to rivet an extension onto it.......

While Whitney Houston’s 'I will always love you' made it, I still prefer Dolly’s original, but Linda  Ronstadt's  version is my favourite.

While I love Clapton's Derek and the Dominoes 'Layla', Clapton's own unplugged version takes the song even further.

So in terms of this thread, is that a cover?

Ditto, until I went on holiday, and tried to read on my phone (or iPad) in sunlight....

Then I realised why I had had a basic Kindle.
