  1. I 've tried the mexican 50s p-bass and sounded a little bit muddy in my fingers. I am searching for fat not muddy sound for my garage/punk band. On the other hand I tried a Squier Dirnt and it was very satisfying. The craftmaship was awful but the sound was OK.
  2. Yeah! I proposed him a trade with my American Standard 2011 p-bass but he needs cash. Unfortunately...
  3. If i am gonna take the mexican path, i think that i prefer the Dirnt...
  4. What about the Mike Dirnt pbass? Fat C neck, custom '59 pickups...
  5. What about some Limelights (pbasses) I see here?
  6. Once again thanks for the comments. Finally, I see my self selling or trading the American Standard pbass for a Sting pbass or something else with chunky neck. Any ideas?
  7. Exactly! That's why a Sting pbass from Japan sounded "better" than my American Standard
  8. you mean that ones? http://store.ghsstrings.com/ghs-bass-precision-flats/
  9. Yeah that ugly "Sting" is stiil on my ears. And on my mind. But it's difficult to find one.
  10. Thanks for all the replies, guys! So, Model P pups (not so expensive as i checked) and flats is a combination i have to try...
  11. I am using an ampeg combo and/or an old trace elliot. No pre amp (I need something like Tech 21 VT bass, but no money no honey) Strings rounds 45-105. Music style: old school garage punk, let's say something like Radio Birdman, Long Ryders, Wipers etc. Funny thing: I tried a Sting Precision (Japan 2001) in the last rehearsal and it gave me that vintage 'boom'.
  12. Hi! I am searching for a vintage-sounding pbass with fat bottom lows and growling mids (I hit hard with my fingers when needed). I already have an American Standard 2011 (60th Anniversary). Sounds awsome but it's very 'modern' for my taste. Even with the Custom 60s pickups that I fitted it with. Any thoughts? Thanks -Panos
  13. Thanks, mate. The neck is like a JB and the action is very low
