  1. Only 15 of the patches in the HX Stomp , out of the box, are for bass..... and ALL  of the DIR patches have been set up with Guitar amps and cabinets..... so the first thing I have done is to replace every one of the amps and cabs in the DIR patches with Bass amps and cabs.  Then I can start to audition them and see whether any of them can be adapted for bass. Note that I am no expert and any other approaches that anyone else has will be gratefully received !

  2. I have started to mess around with my Stomp - I like it....  perhaps there are some more experienced people than me who could answer a couple of questions:

What is the significance of the order that you put the blocks in ? Should the amp and cab be at the end of the chain ?

    Thanks very much !

  3. I bought a GT-1B about a month ago.... so I foolishly thought that I didn’t need a Stomp....... do you honestly think THAT stopped me buying one ?  Of course not - I got the discounted deal from PMT Music and my Stomp arrived today....

  4. My theory is that a kid who starts at 4 yrs old and reaches a high standard by 12 years old, is the same as a guy that starts at 20 and reaches a high standard by 60......... both of them have spent double their starting age in years learning the instrument.

I started bass when I was 40.... so 19 years later I am bound to be still rubbish at playing it  !!

On the other hand I might be talking complete drivel.....

  5. I am in a band with 2 other guys in their late 50's - I am 59 (the drummer is a bit younger, although he has only been with us about 5 years)  We formed the band 18 years ago and named it OGMAN..... at the time,  it was an acronym for Old Gits Making A Noise....

That was 18 years ago...  !!   Should we re-name the band FOGMAN  ??

You are never too old !!

  6. I used a Yamaha TG100 sound module for many years - it is small and neat and you may find one secondhand. That will still require wiring.... a wall wart, a midi cable and a headphone cable - so you are not wires-free..... I imagine that you chose the Hammer 88 because of the weighted keys, which are definitely required for serious piano students, but the lack of on-board sounds is a real downer. Could you consider selling p/x your keyboard for something like a Yamaha P-45 which I think is a very similar action ?  Best of luck, whatever you decide.

  7. I started playing bass 20 years ago.... 2 years later I had a custom 5-string made with mahogany body wings, AAA grade quilted maple, ebony fingerboard, mother-of-pearl dots, Bartolini pups with 18v pre-amp, gold hardware.... it is absolutely mint as I played it a couple of times but decided I didn't like 5-strings. It cost me £2500 back in 2000... It's been played maybe 10 times in the last 18 years and it just sits in my room looking nice. I can't find a good reason to sell it.... maybe I will play 5-string one day....

  8. Collection ONLY from Beaconsfield, near Junction 2 of M40

I don't have a gig bag, or a box, so unfortunately no postage or couriers - sorry.

    30" scale.... 20 frets.... V-V-T knobs.

Hardly used - I bought it last November to try short-scale - but after a while I decided that it's not for me , so I am sticking with my Fender Jaguar 34" scale.

The bass is in excellent condition, as you can see...... If you want to try short-scale, this will suit you nicely.
