  1. The fingering and learning scales will be the least of his problems.... the mouth shape and getting any sort of sound that does not resemble strangling a cat, will be the first priority...... I couldn’t get a consistent tone when I tried to learn many years ago, so I bought a Yamaha wind synthesiser with the excellent VL-70m tone module....  of course, a tenor saxophone looks way cooler than a WX-5 wind synthesiser, but that cool look might go straight out the window once you blow it !!   Best of luck with it though.

  2. I use to own a GT-1B..... my understanding is that it’s designed to operate with the batteries in place all the time, and then when you insert a Jack-plug into one of the sockets (input or output, I can’t remember which) then the power is switched on.  The same probably applies when you plug in the USB....but I think the batteries have to be in situ.... I don’t think that a USB connection would provide enough juice, on its own, to power that pedal anyway.

Oh cool, what options did he offer?

When is yours due to be completed? Maybe we could meet up to make a comparison sometime.

I ordered it last October - I hope to hear from him in a few months , at which point I will decide on the exact spec., although I think I will just go for the plain black as shown on the website.

i will certainly post on here, as things develop, with a view to meeting and comparing !

Yes, I was also in contact with Rob about his version and was considering that too. What swayed me were a few things:

IR is much longer established and further down the road with development. Steve Chick invented this technology.

IR now have P and PJ models and a PJ is the best fit for the normal bass sounds I use.

I’ve also had chance to play an IR bass so know the quality is good. There isn’t any way to try an ROR bass before buying.

I quite like the fact it’ll look like a normal bass.

I really didn’t like the headstock of the ROR one. However it definitely had some things going for it such as the ability to plug and play and the joystick and pitch shift buttons on the body.

If I’m feeling super-flush, I might buy an ROR one too.

Thanks for your reply.  I ordered one from Rob about 3 months ago. Like you, I am not that keen on the headstock, but Rob said I could have a slightly different design if I want it. I think it will grow on me, so I might take it as it is.

I remember seeing a great, but not very well known band in the seventies called Glenco. Found out a few years later that a few of them became The Blockheads including Norman.

Glencoe played at Friars in Aylesbury around 1972/1973 and at the same time Ian Dury’s band (Kilburn and the High Roads) used to play Friars.....maybe that’s where NWR met Ian Dury ?

You can change banks by programming a switch to do it.

Thanks - but I didn’t want to use 2 of the existing switches on the box to do that.... so I have experimented with a “momentary” switch plugged in to one of the EXP sockets on the back of the MC6, and that scrolls the banks up and down. You have to configure the MC6 by holding down button D whilst powering it up, and then you can change the function of those EXP inputs to “Fixed SW1”

    See full details here:

    https://morningstarengineering.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MC6MKII/pages/524689/v3.4#Change-Expression-Input---ExpInpt

The switch I used was the one that I have been using for my BeatBuddy...

  7. I have had this unit just over a year and it has had had very little use, as I upgraded to a HX Stomp about 6 months ago, and that is why I am selling this item. It is in excellent condition and comes with all original packaging and the user manual.  It can run off 4 AA batteries (included) or alternatively you can use a PSU (not included)

I am sure you will know this unit, but just to say that there are loads of effects which you can tweak on the unit itself, or you can connect it to your PC and tweak them via software.

£80 including postage to a UK address.

  8. Beat Buddy Mini - £50 including postage to UK address.

I stopped using this a while ago as I upgraded to the full Beat Buddy.

i am selling it for a very good price because the right-hand knob (which is PUSH for Genre, Song & Tempo......and ROTARY for adjusting those items) is a bit wobbly.

It does not appear to affect the operation of the Beat Buddy at all - and in fact I have found that if you tighten the hex-nut at the bottom of the rotary stalk, then it does not work so well, and the switch needs a much more solid press to work consistently.

So that is full disclosure, but at this price you are getting a very good box that plays a lot of cool rhythms.

More than 100 songs in over 20 different genres.

  9. Boss LMB-3     -    Bass Limiter/Enhancer.

Hardly used at all, and in excellent condition as I bought an HX Stomp, so this LMB-3 has been in my cupboard for the last 6 months.

The LMB-3 gives you control over your bass guitar’s dynamic range using a limiter effect and an enhancer circuit.

Comes with it’s original box. Uses a 9v battery or a power supply (neither is included)

£40 including postage in the UK.
