Another one for the list is Bass Centre Groundwound, cheaper than the Rotosound but I much prefer those.

I own three Retrovibes, I would expect this to be as good.

Passive , yes. Is this similar to a Varitone? Can't find on Google.

I also have an OLP with the same pickup and tone set up but when I have opened it up, it is impossible to read values on either the cap or pot.
-
What would be the best tone pot value for a MM style pickup, with seperate volume per coil?

They did a duff version of "Whiskey in the Jar" too as I vaguely recall
It's even worse than that.

A friend warned me never to listen to Metallica's version of the Clash's Clampdown. I really should have listened to him......

Would also like to see if that is possible for a OLP.

Interested.

My Son had a one in blue. He sold it for a decent profit but hadn't told me he was even considering parting with it!

Saw SLF again on Thursday night. Still a great band but Jake does look like he is ready to pop. Bruce spent more time as a member of SLF than he did as a member of the Jam.

Was once in a rehearsal room when a guitarist , who had always said he disliked straplocks, went to take his Les Paul off and the strap came off and the neck hit the ground and broke.

At work I keep an Ashdown EB180 combo for practice. Lately it has developed a ticking kind of noise which appears to be through the high mids, 1.6khz, which I can make barely audible by cutting that frequency. Anyone else encountered this?

Been intrigued by the model with the Fishman Fluence pick ups. Popped in to the GG shop in Newcastle and they don't have it in stock, but can get it in for a refundable 10 % deposit. Haven't yet but curiosity may still get the better of me.

Tony Butler also has a signature Retrovibe Vantage and I have seen videos of him playing it.

I have a Hofner Shorty Travel bass and I'd be surprised if they do not fit into an overhead.

Ahreet?
Proudly born and raised in Newcastle. Lived just off stanhope street, 5 minutes walk to St James. Used to hear the crowds raw on a Saturday afternoon. Magic. Moved to the coast when I was 4 or 5 and moved to Yorkshire for Uni and never quite managed to leave. I'm currently saving to move back up but let me tell you, in certain areas, the North/South device isn't as wide as I would like it to be! On the coast where we are looking, I'd say its roughly £100k cheaper than an equivalent on the South Coast (where my other half lives and where my main office for work is). It's difficult to say definitively. It is cheaper, but not as much as I would like!
Do we have a Geordie corner here on basschat? Would be canny to make some friends prior to me move up there!
Include me for Geordie corner. Greetings from Jarrow!

I'm old enough to remember the old OLP Stingrays. A mate had one; QC on delivery was horrific, but after a bit of jiggery-pokery it played really nicely.
Bought one recently as a cheapy to keep at work. Surprisingly good.

Assuming this is taking but if not, I would like it.

Metallica's version of the Clash's Clampdown is unforgiveable.

Mainly the .73 Dunlop Flex Jazz XL but darker rooms, .88 Dunlop Nylon Glow is good to find if dropped.

I was wondering, with the gauge of string you're considering, have you took in to account work that may be needed on the nut to prevent string rattle?
