  1. I get where you're coming from, but it's still a tough call for who's at fault. You guys sounded good to me. Everyone here on bass chat has had gigs that didn't happen the way they were supposed to. Here are a few examples of how a gig can go south on a band. 1. Where some guy just loves your band and wants to book you for his 50th birthday party. He didn't take into consideration that his friends and family are all duds. 2. The pub owner that all of a sudden wants to start booking live bands. He didn't realize his clientle have no interest in live music. 3. Your playing in one room and the bar is in another. 4. Your a blues band. Lol Please feel free to add more examples. Daryl
  2. No energy or engagement from the audience. We all hate that. Daryl
  3. I can definitely handle 65°. Daryl
  4. Dave, We had 2 or 3 of those fans on stage. One was right next to me. I used to be able to handle the heat. Those days are gone. Lol Daryl
  5. The pics are fine. Sounds like a cool gig to me. Daryl
  6. Not a bad gig. We sounded really good. Engaged and respectful size crowd and food and drink comped. It was the heat that got to me. I had to play the last few songs sitting down. I felt really faint. One of the patrons was hauled away in an ambulance. Guys, I'm 70. 2 gig weekends are becoming a challenge. Daryl
  7. I shouldn't complain. Drinks and food were comped. Daryl
  8. We played the Major Goolsby stage at WI State Fair yesterday. 3:45-6:45. Good crowd with a lot of dancing. I was able to play the whole gig standing up. 91° so we all stayed hydrated. Lots of rules and regulations to get to the stage. You guys know I like some of the finer extras at gigs. We were told we'd have an air condition trailer with a stocked refrigerator. No band pics. However here are a few pics I took. Yes the trailer was luxurious. Lol Daryl
  9. Dave, You could book a complete tour for us. Only premium venues please. Lol Daryl
  10. Years ago I learned the hard way. Joining bands that were doomed from the start. I didn't do my homework on the bands . Daryl
  11. My advice, always define what you're looking for in a band before you start looking. Daryl
  12. Fantastic review Dave, Please post any vids or pics when they surface. Daryl
  13. It would be a dream for me to play anywhere in England. Daryl
  14. Yeah, it's a Tuesday...but it's not too early to look forward to the weekend and a Maple Road double-header! Sat. 8/3: Maple Road LIVE @ Wisconsin State Fair; Major Goolsby's Stage! 3:45pm-6:45pm. Fried stuff on a stick, a giant slide, unmatched people watching, and a whole lot of live rockin' blues! Sun. 8/4: Maple Road LIVE @ Kettle Moraine Supper Club! 2pm-5pm. Happy to be making our debut performance here! Come on out for some Sunday Funday action and we'll show 'em how we do things!
  15. That's a cool look. The red whimsical shirt and that red Jet. Daryl
  16. Man, those things look cool. Daryl
  17. Nice vocals. Daryl
  18. Sounds like it wasn't a great weekend. All it takes is a good weekend to feel good. Hopefully this coming weekend will be good. Daryl
  19. Thanks for sharing your story Meterman. I would bet most of us here on BC have faced more than one bump in the road. Daryl
  20. I know a few guys that tried to make a living from gigs. They ended up with 35 years of making a few bucks here and there. These guys are now in their 60s and 70s and financially screwed. And by that time it's too late. Daryl
  21. Agreed, I like where your heads at. My story is a little different. Started playing and gigging as a young teen. However, I went to college and got my degree in business administration right after high school. I played in jazz and stage band for four years. I worked a traditional job as a worker's compensation examiner for 35 years. My real gigging and making money experience didn't start until I was 60 years old with a pension. That was 10 years ago. Daryl
  22. Nice job. Looked like a fun gig. Daryl
  23. Nice groove. You guys didn't lose a beat. Daryl
  24. I sort of get it too. Out of all the musicians I know only 2 were able to make a living from performing in bands. Daryl
  25. OMG! I'm getting old and forgetful. Sorry for the duplication guys. Daryl
