IThe Ampeg Dan Armstrong bassses are okay, but they were never really something special when it comes to playability and tone.

that's not my opinion. I have one, I think they sound good, easy to carry, just heavy

  2. I must say that I am a bit septic about expensive cables vs cheap one, thinking it’s more a marketing aspect instead of a real difference in sound. When I see the price of the monster cables …
Now, Chienmortbb, reading you on different thread, I must say that I have respect for what you write, and I am open to learn and change my mind, so:
Using only short cables: 10 ft, is there a difference in sound between cheap cables and good cables for that length  ?
My set up is: active or passive bass, 10 ft cable I made myself with Black Zilk Cable to go to preamp, and after a cheap cable to go to the amp.
    Black Zilk: https://www.thomann.de/fr/sommer_cable_the_spirit_black_zilk.htm.
    Rockboard Cable: https://www.thomann.de/fr/rockboard_flat_lead_cable_300cm_s_s_blk.htm.
Could I do better ? Thank’s shearing your impressions.
This thread is really interesting and I could add to Nekomatic ’S post : difference between Speakon and Jack, knowing that for ex. TC Bam or Elf use jack output for a 200 W power ?
And do you say (excuse my English): Difference between floating ground and not ?

filtering the bass probably good in protecting the sort of small speakers they are likely to be used with.

Yeah, I preferred the colour of the BAM but it was out of stock when I wanted one. Nice little amp though, you can get a great sound out of them with a little eq tweaking..

Yes, putting the gain at max and playing loud, you can hear a sort of compression for protection.

Good you choose the Gnome instead of the Bam, cause for the moment some of us says they have electronic problems with the Bam.

  4. Hi
Does someone has tested the difference (in term of Sound) between the TC Bam 200 and the Warwick Gnome ?

Does someone can tell me if , making the Eq of the Bam flat, I will get the sound of the Warwick ?
Those two amps are so similar.
I have the Bam, but I’m not sure the EQ fits to me, and may be I could change for a Warwick.

    Thank’s for your answers.

It was very hot, even the ac cord end and speaker plug was hot.  The metal case seemed to be burn you hand hot!

Reading us, It seems that some of us say that it can become very hot, and others don’t.

    Mine stay cool.
Are there good numbers and bad one ???

The manual states to turn the gain to where the indicator LED is just starting to blink. I found that I needed to set the gain a little higher to get the punch that I wanted. More experiments to come.
I’m perplexed by the sales ad stating that the head weighs 1 lb. And the manual says 2 lbs. It is very small and dense. It must be really packed tight inside.

With only 200 W, you need to set the gain quite high to have a good level. So the light turns quickly to green and stay there.

The weight of that amp is more around 2 lbs instead of 1.

For the EQ, here is a file to know how to set the TC 200 Bam flat. Could help, after every body can do his own.

I've had the Xvives ( first gen ) before my current wireless setup, and they were fine till they stopped charging up via USB.  They lasted a year or so so a waste of over 100 q

This is exactly my experience with the Xvives. Stupid thing not to be abble to change the battery.

This is why I choose the Smoothound that words with classic AAA Battery.

  9. I have the MXR micro amp. For bass guitar, it could be a clean boost, but not for double bass who need a real clean clean boost. Depend what you want and play.

I have tested, MXR, Ampeg Classic Analog Bass Preamp witch is just a preamp but can give you 20 db, but if you could find an Empress para EQ, this one will give you a real 30 db of clean clean sound, + the EQ.
