  1. Hello!

I've had a Rocktron IICX noise gate that I haven't used for years but I've decided to put in my live rig again. Only problem is one of the potentiometers broke and Rocktron offered to send out a new pot but never actually did it. basically the shaft got broken off of the VR3 Threshold control so it's a bit important to fix! haha

Anyway, I know the pot's value, it's a 10k pot but I've never seen this type of pot before and can't find anything similar. it's marked with "10k 903" on the top which I've tried googling but to no avail.

I'll attach a photo to the end of the post in the hope someone more technically minded knows what sort of pot it is and where I can get a replacement one.

    Thanks in advance!

*edit* Have just had a reply, it's a 10k B (Linear) pot so I might set about fixing it tonight if I still have a spare 10k B pot around.

  2. Hey guys

I've been bought a Korg DT-10 tuner to go on my "fly rig" board but as my main bass board and my guitar board both have Korg PB-01 tuners on them, my band mate uses a PB-01 and I have serious OCD when it comes to my pedals, I can't put this on my board (yes that's a ridiculous reason but we're all a little bit "funny" aren't we!). The DT-10 was bought 2nd hand (my relative paid £35) but as such is in very good condition with very little use and has obviously been taken care of.

So anyway, I'm offering up my Korg DT-10 in straight swap for a PB-01 but as a sweetener, I'll pay postage on both items (to the max of £3.90 as I know that's how much "signed for" delivery on a parcel this size is). If no one wants to do a trade then I'll take £30 + £3.90 postage for it.

Pics to be uploaded later when my phone has charged up.

    Item location is central Bedfordshire.

A tiny bit yeah - angle of the photo also doesn’t help, need to reset the neck a little towards the bass side... But in all fairness I haven’t had the time.

having looked at it more...I think a bridge with threaded saddles would sort this.

i’ll add It to the list of stuff I don’t want to buy...should’ve done it in the first place...

Haha! Sorry Andy, didn't mean it to sound like a criticism. Really hope you manage to sort out the problems you've had with it so far though as it's been a great build to follow and such a shame you've had the issues.

  4. Hi guys

I've got a Boss CH-1 that's had the Blinking Rate LED mod done to it which basically blinks in sync with the chorus rate.

The mod works perfectly fine when using a 9V battery and blinks in perfect synchronicity but when using a 9v PSU (both a standalone and an MXR DC Brick) the LED blinks very subtly and very erratically. Any help as to why the LED is doing that would be greatly appreciated! This pedal is going on my Peter Steele/Type O-Negative mini-board along side a DS-1 and DD-7 (Peter used a DD-3 but I want the tap feature) so it'd be cool to have the pulsing lights (Might even change them all to bright green LEDs haha!)

Just to bring you up to speed with how the mod is done, it really is as simple as 1 wire and an LED. The only thing I've done different to this is that I've added an extra LED for the rate mod and left the original status LED in place. I'm hoping it's not that that's causing it to behave weirdly when using a PSU but as seen in the linked video, the person has his pedal being powered by a PSU and not a battery... I know it's only an aesthetic thing (it doesn't alter the tone in any way at all) but I like the blinking rate indicator. It's also handy for syncing with a BPM!

  5. Free to a good home!

i have a Pedaltrain PT-2 official soft case but the zips are broken on it and I don’t have the patience or know how to repair it so if any one wants it, they’re free to have it. I have since bought a cheap replacement.

If it’s not gone by next Friday (12/04) then I’ll be putting it in the bin!

Collection preferred from central Bedfordshire. If you really want it posted then I’m happy to slap a label on it but it’s not worth being wrapped up etc and obviously you will have to pay postage.

If you so wish, a donation to the BassChat fund wouldn’t go a miss either! Totally down to your discretion but I’d say at least a fiver?

Assuming this is a painted bass, you could try using T-Cut on a soft cloth. Old, washed out t-shirts are good. It'll take a fair bit of elbow grease though.

Even if you don't get all the scratches out, they represent good honest mojo. Enjoy the bass with all the memories.

I should have explained, it's a trans red finish on top of flame maple. Problem is, the main one on the front was done when something got caught in my cleaning cloth and it scratched it when I gave it a wipe before.
I could give T-cut a go but I know I'll just end up wanting it done properly so it looks new again. I'm a bit weird like that haha! Thank you for the suggestion though.

  7. I know, the title was quite long but it explains it.

I'm wondering if there is anyone in Bedfordshire who would be able to polish some scratches out of a bass for me? My number 1 bass is being retired as it holds too much sentimental value but it has a few surface scratches in it that I'd like to have polished out. I don't have the equipment or know how for doing this sort of thing so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  8. Hi

I've got a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB “F spaced” Bridge guitar pick up for sale

Had it in my LTD explorer for a ages but parted out the guitar a long time ago so this was just sat in my parts box!

Still got plenty of wiring left on it and is 4-conductor so can be coil split if you wanted (I had it wired to a push/pull pot to coil split it and it sounded great in single coil mode too)

Looking to get £45 for it. Price includes postage.

  9. Hi

I've got a Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker Bridge guitar pick up for sale

Had it in my ESP V for a while but going for something a bit different.

Still got plenty of wiring left on it and is 4-conductor so can be coil split if you wanted (I had it wired to a push/pull pot to coil split it and it sounded great in single coil mode too)

Looking to get £45 for it. Price includes postage.

  10. Hi

I've got a Seymour Duncan AHB-2 Active Blackout (for Metal \m/) Bridge guitar pick up for sale

Was bought for a guitar that I never got round to buying. Typical move there. So it's just sat doing nothing. This pick up has an on-board gain booster that can be left off, hardwired on or controlled via a SPDT switch (I will include the cabe and switch for the booster).

Can be hooked up to the EMG solder less quick connect cables so no need for soldering.

Looking to recoup what I paid for it which is £45. Price includes postage.

Apart from the full bypass this is it. If you rewire the mute to be a bypass aren’t you there?

    https://www.thomann.de/gb/providence_dbs_1_dual_bass_station.htm

It is a great clean 2 channel pre. Clearly you could stick 2 onboard preamps in a box, and wire up etc, but this gets you there without much fuss methinks.

That does look like a great pre amp and piece of kit but that’s nearly 3x the price I could put the one I’m considering together for. Also the size of it wouldn’t fit on the space on my board. The space I have is the same size as an EHX bass big muff so I’m just going to buy an enclosure.

I think (but could be wrong...) that the OP was thinking of building his box for much less than £215. ;)

Hahaha yep, spot on mate! I could do the one I want for £80 (and change).
