Build quality and finish is amazing. It sounds great at home at different volumes, it'll be interesting to know what it sounds like at rehearsal.
I agree, it's a great cab, really well built...contrary to what some people think, fit and finish are really good in my opinion..

With regards to breaking in the speakers, Alex advice was to just play the cab and give it some time, not to bother with running any tones through the cab...and that's what I'm doing with my Super Twin.

    What was the topic again?...........

    :D

So far I have Hotcovers, Jenart and Bacsew they all look good and prices are reasonable.
Not sure there's any other cover manufacturers in the UK

    Read this?

Yes hence the SP was my choice when the Micro Comp option failed :) ...thanks anyway!

I have one and it's a keeper, even if I hardly use it. works very well with very little to zero noise on bass and guitar and once you've found "your" setting with the pins it's difficult to get a bad compression out of it.
THE feature is the parallel compresion blend which I usually leave on 40% wet to just fatten up my sound a bit without losing the original dynamics.
Thanks!
I might pull the trigger and order one. :gas:

I imagine they must've been a nightmare to build!
I think you might be right, not easy mounting everything on such a small enclosure.

No experiences with the Xotic SP anyone?

I think I just find the idea of wrapping an item that is extremely solidly built with a hard-wearing exterior in something so comparatively weak and flimsy somewhat bizarre...
Apparently many, many people have a different opinion and choose to have a cover on their cabs.
The covers on my previous cabs and amps, Aguilar and Bergantino, were of excellent quality, not weak at all, and did their job really well.

  8.
I am the same, they made me one cover which fitted well, but as you say are a bit basic, kept the raln off
the last ones, 1 acoustic 370 amp, 3 PJB covers, came from these chappies
    http://www.hotcovers.co.uk/
Despatched within 24 hours, all made as custom jobs, ie not madethese particular cabs/amps before, 3 perfect, one not quite right, [my naff dimensions] turned round modified the same week.
    look good and nicely padded.
Thanks, I'm already in touch with them, waiting on the final quote but they are going to be definitely cheaper that Roqsolid.
I agree that Roqsolid covers are very basic - they protect against knocks and scratches, and that's it. But.. IME they do that job well, with good service t'boot.

Sorry to hear the OP has had a problem. Frankly, I'm amazed as their reputation is usually pretty solid.

I hope you get it sorted.
Thanks!
All soretd now, I've been refunded my money.
I'm amazed too but that's been my experience with them. I'm not the only one that has had problems lately...something going on there? Maybe.
A very poor showing on Roqsolid's part. I have to agree with some of the above comments that their covers are very, very basic and do little more than keep off the dust and a spot or two of rain. I always use Jenart (http://www.jenart.com/frames.html). Chris at Jenart is a super guy and his prices are really competitive. For example, approx £25 for a Markbass CMD121P combo cover 20mm padding. Jenart have made quite a few covers for me - usually from my measurements, always to the agreed spec and I have never had an issue of any kind. Usually a quick turnaround and the covers have always fitted first time. I can't recommend the enough. No, I'm not on commission :D
Cheers!
I've just sent them an email.

You know when you're storing a cab somewhere it might get dust on it? Stops that.
You know when you're walking from the car to the gig in the rain and water might get on it? Stops that.
You know when you accidentally scuff the cab against a wall or something and it can damage the finish or tolex? Stops that.

That's why you use cab covers.
Exactly!
This type of covers might not offer much protection against hard knocks or falls but they do a good job protecting the finish on your cab.
I've had cabs with and without covers, the ones with do not have a scratch on them, the ones with none, did get quite a few scratches and tears on the finish.

I've not tried either of them, but SFX also do a micro compressor, although it's not listed on the site.

Not anymore...I got in touch with Max and he said he's not making those anymore :(

  11.
I have to admit that I really don't like Roqsolid covers. The ones I've seen have fitted their designated cabs pretty well but I've always found them a bit 'basic'. Ok as dust covers and maybe to protect from really minor scrapes but not in the same league as the ones some of the major cab builders sell to go with their cabs.

I've always thought it was a 'you pays your money and you takes your choice' kinda thing - my money has always gone elsewhere :(
As a long time Aguilar and Bergantino user I have always bought their branded covers and, in my opinion, they are of much better quality, more expensive but worth the extra money.
This time I needed something for my Barefaced cab and I ordered from them, bad luck I've had so time to look somewhere else...Any other good cover manufacturers out there, please?

  12.
Well my roqsolid cover arrived this morning oh it's fits my acme low b cab problem is this just like dust cover can't access the handle to carry the cab holes in the wrong place and it as small tear too any ideas people I'm not iimpressed at all especially at nearly 50 notes grrrrrr
Well, unfortunately it seems like I'm not alone...I don't mean it in a bad way Kevvo66

In which case they definitely have the right dimensions for a super twin, the cover on mine downstairs is proof of that!
I don't think this is a case of having the wrong measurements here, they have been checked with me twice, all the dimensions not just handles, and also with Alex.
In addition there's been the issues with sending the cab out twice with all the manufacturing chalk markings, wrong Placeholder strap position and length too.

  14.
I take it this is not Roqsolid? They have stock dimensions from Alex I believe and do a good cover as well as being helpful & quick - they designed and built a cover for my bass pedals from initial email, followed by a swift exchange re dimensions & requirements, to delivery in about 10 days.

Get your money back and try them - unless it is them in which case OOPS!
OOPS!

  15.
Yes, on my replacement cover the handle holes are in exactly the right place. I don't think they could be in the centre of the cab as there is internal structure preventing it, so possibly the first order just 'assumed' they were in the middle. Roqsolid phoned me to confirm the correct position before remaking the cover, and refunded my return postage promptly, I have no complaints and would use them again.
Lucky you!
I would understand getting it wrong on the first cover if they had the wrong measurements.
What I don't really get how, after giving them the dimensions and handle positions over the phone and by email, they still get it wrong on the next two covers. Also add the bottom strap in the wrong position.

  16.
Man that is ridiculous. At this stage I'd just be requesting my money back. Somebody clearly doesn't care about their work!

I tend to agree, they've messed up three times; doesn't inspire any confidence in their ability to get it right next time.

Heck. Three times??? Something isn't right here. I can imagine this is very frustrating.

I ordered a Genz cover before Xmas from a cover company, and whilst it was sorted out, I had to give them new dimensions and explain what was wrong as the cover was far far too big.

It got sorted in the end. I'm shocked they haven't just sent you a brand new one. At this point, I'd get a refund.

£75.00 is a lot of money for a cover...so it needs to be right.

Agreed - the Aguilar covers are the best in the business.
I completely agree with all of you, I'm not too confident with what I've seen so far.
I even took the measurements of the cab myself for the second cover and sent it to them.
Interesting, I had a cover made by Roqsolid for my Super Twin (#001) and the side handle cutouts were an inch out, apparently they had used dimensions supplied by another owner. The side handles are not dead centre, they are an inch or so higher. They sent me a replacement cover within a couple of days.
So on the replacement cover you received , are the handle holes fine?
I have to say to get every cover has taken a week, or more, not just days.

  17. Well, welll, well...third cover has just arrived and, it's still wrong!

    - Handle holes, in the wrong position, too high up.
    - Placeholder strap velcros at the front rather than the back, as I had requested and as it was done on the previous cover.
    - Also Placeholder strap cut too long, so only a tiny little bit sticks on the velcro. 1st cover had this issue, was solved on the 2nd cover, and now on the 3rd cover it's wrong again.

One month and 3 covers later...Not happy, I'm not happy at all

  18.
I am responsible for it, i bump it up from 2010 :) I am sorry, addicted but i still don't have 6000 posts like you Master LukeFRC :D I voted for these cool japanese basses I am looking for infos, advices... a rarer silver
