1. For me it would also be leather strap with suede back to stop slipping and some padding in between...for those heavy instruments...70's Fenders anyone? :P

One thing I have never liked on leather straps is the way to adjust the length, if you want to change it it's no very easy or quick, I much prefer the quick slide buckle found on other straps, you can adjust it on the fly...Could this be done in a leather strap?

I don't understand hanging basses on the wall.

They're not ornaments to me. I keep all my basses in their cases and my main gigging bass doesn't come out at home.

Well, I happen to think they also make for a nice feature wall :D

Not much space, other than the garage, for storing them in our house so having them on the wall it's the best option and it's very handy when you are using different basses for different bands/songs.
For gigs I use my Protect Gigbag and the cases are stored away.

3. Another top transaction here.
I ordered a wiring kit from him for my Fender PJ and it was made and posted the very same day I ordered it. The kit is now fitted on my bass and it does have made a difference!
He's work is top notch and now changing pickups it's easier than ever!...not sure if this is good, there's so many to try out there :D

Cheers John!

This is one of the reasons I love Basschat so much!

5. What can I say that it hasn't been said already?

I had a problem with one of my favourite and precious pedals, my Akai Deep Impact, which had stopped working completely.
I contacted John and arranged to bring it down to his place. I arrived pedal in hand and from the start John was very nice. He had a look at the pedal and started working his magic on it whilst I was having a go at his lovely collection of Fender basses :D
A few minutes later, the pedal was working again as if nothing had happened.

We had a very good chat about Fenders, amps, strings and past stories....it was a real pleasure meeting John and I can't thank him enough.

As always, it's great to meet another Basschatter.

Thank you very much John!!!

Sorted :) it was a pleasure meeting Pablo today & his pedal is 'making all sorts of horrible noises' once again :D :P

Cheerz, John

Yes, all sorted now!...Thanks to KiOgon's knowledge and expertise. He's been very helpful and a true gentleman.
I'm so glad, the pedal is now back on my board and I'm ready to start learning Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

Also, thanks to you all for your advice...I love Basschat!

You've possibly got a BCer nearby who's handy with a soldering iron. You could contact GAK in Brighton to see if they offer a repair service in case nobody here can offer practical help or look online for local luthiers who work with electrics or amp technicians.

You could try a PM to KiOgon, I think he's done this sort of repair before. His location shows Bexhill on Sea, not far from Peacehaven, I think..?
Hope this helps...

Thanks guys!

I'll contact Kiogon and see if he can help me...he's not far from me.

Sounds like a dry joint on the board, find someone handy with a soldering iron and it should be a quick fix.
Thanks for the advice.

I was hoping to find someone that can repair pedals and I was wondering if anyone here on the forum knew who.

9. My Deep Iimpact is not working anymore :(

For the past few weeks it has been playing up, sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.
I tracked the issue down to the power input socket, it seemed like it was a bit loose and not working properly, with a bit of twiddling and a piece of paper card, I secured it, so it wasn't moving around, and it was working fine but today it has completely stopped working.

Today the pedal won't power properly, if you move the power socket it will power but no way to make it work. It seems to me like the power socket needs replacing or soldering properly.

Anyone else has had a similar problem?

Who or where I could have the pedal checked? I'm not very handy and I rather not touch it myself.

10. I have 5 basses on my studio wall, all of them with Hercules autoswivel & autograb hangers and I've never had a problem. They've been on for over two years now and they've had from 5 string basses to heavy 70s Fenders.
My advice would be to check the screws now and then, of course, use the appropriate wall plugs too.

I purchased Set List Maker not long ago, thought I'd share my thoughts on the App.

Unlike PauBass, I don't rate the App highly, here's why:

Overall the App feels clunky and dated, it hasn't really moved on much I suspect and embraced what's happening in user interfaces these days. It relies on lots of drop down menus and fiddly data screens, which is fine on a desktop with a mouse but doesn't feel very nice on an iPad.

Finding what you want can quickly become frustrating, screens are too many clicks away from where you are, nothing really flows. Then try navigating on the fly in the middle of a gig and it's not pretty.

I've found the import options are hit and miss, for example, if you import your setlist as a Playlist from iTunes it omits some of the data fields, the lyrics being one of them! Extremely annoying when you've spent hours copy & pasting them in!

Importing spreadsheets/CSVs also proved haphazard with data not appearing how it should, and then you get into the problem of trying to delete the damn thing. Key functionality in an App should be obvious to the user, not buried deep in screen hierarchy.

And that brings me onto the Help function. Basically it takes you to a very outdated looking web page that immediately looks like a chore to read through. All the info is there but it's a bit like the App, hard to find what you're looking for.

Setting up a set list is also frustrating, it should be easy and obvious how to split sets into two or three, it's not. And for an App that's called Set List Maker it should be!
We have different opinions then :)

I find Set List Maker very easy to use, it might not be the most appealing interface but it's OK, in my opinion that is.

I've had no trouble importing anything so far and using it live it's a joy. Create your setlist, click perform and away you go. You can jump to the next song manually, automatically when the song finishes or use one of those Bluetooth pedals to change pages.
I have mine set up so when in perform mode, I have the list of songs for that gig, I click on the song once and it opens the score, when the song finishes, it closes the score and I'm back on the list of songs. Although the list of songs runs as it will be performed, I like to go back to the song list in case the singer decides to call a different song.

I use mine for 3 different bands, and it's proven to be a very handy app.
