I've used Elite Stadiums for about 28 years and find they are the best strings for me. Have tried others but always come back to the Elites. I have been told Rotosound's are the same string as they come from the same manufacturer and currently trying a set of 66's. They do seem very similar buy maybe a bit more tension.

don't rotosound make there own strings at their own factory, they are similar sounding and feel.

Let us know what you think.

Happy so far, good tension without being too tight, tried DR steels once and they were like cheese wire,.

The clarity on these is very very good, they sound nice and bright but not stupidly bright, just a bit worn in straight out of the packet, hopefully this will last.

Better assessment will be after they have been on a month or so.

My favourite strings - have been using 'em for most of my bass playing life - started using them back in the late 1980's (Stadium stainless steel 40 -125 gauge). I can usually make a set last about three months before changing.

Currently ysing rotosound 66 nickle, get 3 months out if them. Love a well broke in set on my Jazz bass, thoght i would try something else.

For my knowledge Spector uses EMG 35/40/45 DS's and TW's as a default in their US, Euro and some of the Legend line so practically if there is a soapbar shaped EMG in your Spector that will either a DC (silver EMG logo) or a TW (red lettering) Lately they started using the X series version of these, too.

yeah probably the silver ones 35's

unfortunately that is the only P bass that sounds like that

yep sound great but its a distorted bass sound, and that's not for everyone.

I have a Fender P and its ok, but not my favorite bass sound, my jazz and spector sound better.

Spot on! There are actually quite a few soap bars on the market that are P coil types. It’s not always obvious from the name or of course what the pickup looks like on the outside.

did not know this, i have a spector with twin soapbars assumed they where humbucker types, may take the covers of to have a look. If its true that is kind of  disappointing or not, depends what we you look at it, as they do sound good.

  8. Just sold my Ashdown mag 300 and 410 cab. taken me a whole year to sell. luckily a local lad had an old amp fail on him so needed an amd an cab quickly for gig. got a fair price in the end (sort of) but half the original asking price from 12 months ago.

lovely amp the 300 combo great sound and when added to the 410 awesome tone and power,  but at just shy of 30kg (combo alone) its way too heavy for practical use and its a big award size as well with only a plastic carry handle on top, now i am a big strong lad (ex RL prop forward) and even in my lesser current state of fitness,  so can see how an elder statesmen or skinny emo/indie type kid would not touch it with a barge pole.

Replaced with a Peavey 112 max comb, which is still on the heavy side compared to some super lightweight combos but at 18kg with 200w its much more easy to move about.

I've lusted after one of these for ages - seems a fairly simple 2 drive option (compared to some of the crazy pedals out there).

I Was saving for a Darkglass vintage ultra, but not now, was hoping this would do a job, but got much much more than i expected. the sound quality is amazing really natural organic warm analogue sound. i'd go for it really good value.

  10. Just purchased one of these at the weekend, very impressed. It is two different distortion channels, Hot tubes and Crayon but its more like l 4 pedals in one. great smooth drive on hot tube all the way up to 12 o clock and no loss of low end at all, not even touched the blend nob.  up to 2pm and still only some eq  to boost the bass a bit. best tube simulation i have ever played really good organic sound.

Crayon is a nice smooth range of overdrive and again no blend needed much up to 12pm. gets a bit fizzy on loss a bit of low end on higher gain settings but not had to go beyond 50/50 mix as yet.

Bang them both on at once and the hot tube drives the crayon. this is when things get a bit crazy and i did need some blend, but again on down to 50/50 at pretty harsh settings.

Either side can be used as a clean boost full blend and 8-9pm gain. or gain all the way down completely.

If it had a mids control as well as the bass and treble would also make a great pre amp. this certainly looks like my always on pedal from now on instead of my MXR M80

At  just under£110 cannot recommend this enough, everything from mild boost mild tubey /grit to full on distortion and all the controls for flexibility you need.

Oh no. That's totally ruined my enjoyment of Def Leppard and Kiss.

    Sarcy,

With regards def leppard, Rick Savage plays bass by the way Rick Allen drums.  Most of Hysteria album was bass samples and sequencers, I have tried to play gods of war bass line, and can play it pretty well, but never going to get it right as it's a synth bass and absolute no string noise what so ever, still a great bass line. Pretty much all other def leppard albums all bass is real. And certainly is live.

love kiss but yeah pretty much apart from early stuff don't reckon too much bass in studio is Gene Simmons.
