Is the fight with an angle grinder on this one because the previous owner retro-fitted a comfort-curve or what ever they are called?
It's a lovely looking bass by the way. I wish you joy in you releasing your inner Bernard Edwards!

I do have a somewhat involved cautionary tale about different forms of tuning...
Our keyboards player (an aged pop star who didn't do tech) had a pretty ancient keyboards set up where the backup (motherboard...internal) battery finally gave up the ghost. He had a panic and asked the rest of the band to help. We looked it up on the internet and found the (very involved) replacement routine on a You Tube demo, which we proceeded to follow, half an hour before a gig (big mistake!). The routine involved opening the keyboard and taking at least one very substantial motherboard off to find the one CR32 buried at the bottom of the last motherboard. OK so far. We replaced everything and turned the keyboard on (five minutes before gig) to discover that the pitch of the keyboard had returned to factory settings : (concert (??) pitch). Basically this required all the band to de-tune about a tone, about 30 seconds before said gig. The Keyboards player then re-discovered the tuning option on his keyboard to return to normal (10 seconds before gig). Luckily we all had our own tuner pedals to return to where we started.

Yeah, i see it. So, what do You think about the price - is it wourth that ?
I bought mine ages ago (it's bomb proof). The functionality is way OTT for me, and there are now much lighter versions. Also your tuning is only as good as the rest of the band (weak link theory). I think it will last longer than me. My guitarist uses the boss pedal 😁

So these are bomb proof and utterly reliable if they are plugged into the mains. If I am honest, I don't understand 95% of the functionality (and hope I never will), They are heavy, but they are very accurate, including those OMG moments between numbers when you think you pulled a little too energetically on a string...
If you look carefully you will see it on mute at the front of my Pedaltrain.

Bit of Friday night hubris. Thinking this will be easy as a way to unwind. Grooving away until I hit the Unison line around 2.55.
Running it slowly a few times and I'm just about getting it now.
Did you learn this one too?

That's a ringer for the Paul Simonon London Calling Bass....same year. Advantage is that yours is in one piece and maybe you could get arty with the scratchplate

Everything works as it should and overall in vgc, although I have repaired some light cosmetic damage (now hardly visible but reflected in the asking price). Comes with a cover tailor-made by Mrs Scrumpy and I've added rubber feet to the end opposite the carrying handle to protect it from scuffs when put down on the floor. Price excludes delivery but will travel a sensible distance for handover or pack well for collection if buyer arranges/pays for courier.
I am loving the cover you have made for it. Are you a needlecraft expert in your spare time? The amp is brilliant too. I love mine, and everyone is right...it is not a quiet amp. Fantastic vintage sounds

They're always amazingly entertaining. I'd recommend making the trip down here next year to see them in a small venue with excellent sound.
A mate of mine is stage manager at the venue and loves working with Airborne. They're the most professional band he works with, no egos, they love what they do and they come off stage absolutely exhausted.
Disappointingly, most of their cabs are empty and just for show.
Their video does look like the Marshall factory packaging area......very ACDC esque, but with no egos...as you say

Now I'm curious as to what the lovely replacement is?

I believe that amp was mine for at least ten years. Bought second hand from the Bass Centre, and without doubt the loudest amp I've ever owned and very reliable. The only work I ever needed having done to it was to replace the fan, so should outlast most of us!
For those with a back issue the flight case does have grab handles on the side
GLWTS and love its replacement.

From memory mine took ages to get through customs clearance. Anyway, I wish you much joy when it does arrive. I love mine and play through it nearly every day.

And isn't the irony that Jeddy now owns most of pre-CBS everything Fender Bass? (or did he borrow them for his book?)

If you liked that, you will like this!

Is it just me, or does this say Michael Jackson to you?

That's a lovely bass. I suspect it's quite similar to my CS in set-up, tone and options and mine cost me over £1k more (it is a lefty). Looks a steal!
