    Luckily I think this Status is gorgeous but not the Streamline - i have a big picture of one on my studio wall to try and convince myself into getting one as i cant find a nice XL2.

    You really have to match the amp to a graphite neck/all graphite bass IMO
    I wonder if Status/Statii were developed/built using T/E as a reference amp or did they use a variety of makes and older amps.
    My Steinys and Statii sounded great through my T/E stack but when I switched to Peavey (ooh the irony!!) they weren't the same.
    The Steinberger XL2 had a fabulous sound - the open E sounded like the bass register on Grand piano and the neck was narrow but quite deep causing my mate who used Arias and JDs to describe it as a bit of a log!

    I wouldn't stick a graphite neck on a nice fender cos I feel u either go all the way (XL2 ,2000, Streamline) or just have a nice bit of wood Guv'nor (or 2)

    I dont think i had heard of the Zoot til I joined BC. :)
    There is stuff on the For sale forum at prices people would have trampled their own granny to get that is just not shifting in these cash strapped days.
    Like most people i have GAS which will only be satisfied by selling a bass(es) I have.
    So do u bite the bullet and sell for less than u anticipated in hope of finding replacement at similairly reduced bargain price?

    Shockarooni!!!
    Status t-bass with original case sells for £330 on e-Bay???? The last one I saw went for 700+ i think
    Current list with graphite neck is £1300
    I know basses are only worth what people are willing to pay for them but is the market totally fecked just now.
    Is there anything recession proof?

    Don't get me wrong, i would have this in a minute! I love headless graphite basses! but I am (we are) in the minority.
    Perhaps rather than lacking in taste people are just terribly old-fashioned.
    Although, paradoxically, they do have an 80s vibe to them.

    I think these and the 2000(?) and their modern equivalent (not the s1 body) is the peak of Status production.

    FYI - there is a 1981 Kramer flying V bass (aluminium neck) on Gumtree, Glasgow today.
    Chap is open to offers but no pics yet - I know its the other end of the country for you but just to let you know

    Question about strings

    I bought 4 sets of Status light ( 30 - 90 ) off eBay for a good price to try them.
    Finally stuck the first set on me Wal yesterday and they are bloody hopeless!
    Can barely see them never mind find them to play so off they came for Black Label Warwicks 45s!

    Now have 3 sets of single end Status lights gathering dust.
