That Andy Baxter bass sounds sweet!
If you've never been to his shop, it's quite the experience.
I went down there to try out a couple of basses. What did he plug me in to for amplification? A 1963 B15.... lol

Actually, you're both wrong. The timbre I used was poplar
Doesn’t look very popular to me.

I know all those thoughts went through my tiny brain as well but I don't have a white one so that won.
Good call. Me neither. Mind you, I’d be tempted to do a wipe on poly finish and have it a bit glossy

yea go on every one should have one, I wanted one for ages and the only way was to have a go myself, judging on the quality of your last build it would be luverly
Dunno how I’d finish it tho. Would be nice to have it natural, but I also think a dark-ish stain would be nice.
Having said that your white stain would be good too - I’d probably wax it after

I’m seriously gassing for a pinecaster now...

I'm just going to leave the bar on there - it doesn't get in the way and has a nice vintage look about it. Besides, I'm losing the will to live and might go for a little walk by the river.
I’m not sure this upgrading and modding lark is for you

I just can't be bothered to do anything about the tug bar screw holes in the guard, which my OCD would not accept. So on it goes.
I’ve put blanking screws in one of mine - doesn’t look so bad

Nope. It's entirely cosmetic.

You going to play thumb style with that tug bar?

It is rumoured that Andy was secretly developing a bass filled with helium. Development was interrupted when it was found that it sounded like a soprano ukulele once filled with the gas.
Everyone knows helium changes timbre not pitch

The person who mentioned Magnolia should hang their head in shame...
Yeah - clearly it’s “morning wheat glow.”

I take it you not seen Mononeon before? Started life as Polyneon. I reckon he's defo the one that is pushing boundaries at the moment... defo one to watch. Last bass player with Prince too. No small accolade.
I... Er... it’s... I just... well.

Microtonal stuff I can actually get with a bit more... for example, check out Mononeon's take on it.
- but again, a fine line between music, muzak and complete out of tune BS.
That’s got some great technique, control and tempo in it. The level of skill required to do what he is doing consistently must be really high.
I actually don’t find that too bad at all - in fact, I’d go so far as to say if I was passing by a performance of this at a festival I would stay and hear it out and like it.
The sock on the headstock tho....?!

This talk of microtonal stuff might persuade me that my rubbish attempts at fretless were actually materclasses in progressive modern musical style...!

Hi everybody,
Does anyone know if the QSC 10 and QSC 10.2 have the same hardware ( Amp and Driver ) ?
The driver is the same - not sure about the amp tho. There’s a k10 and a k10.2 in our band and they are very similar tonally and volume wise.

I can’t sell it, and I really can’t justify why.
I was considering using it as a backup for live stuff, but the AVRI Jazz I have is night and day better.
It cost me less than a decent Mexican Jazz does now, so I’ll just keep hold of it and occasionaly curse at it taking up space until the kids grow up.
Is I really like the colour a good enough reason ?!
I’m not sure I could justify keeping a bass long term that didn’t earn it’s keep one way or another (so to speak) unless it had sentimental attachment.
I do tend to adopt the “not been played for 3 months rule” - hence why the AVRI P is up for sale
Interesting FRFR story..

@jrixn1 - the quality of the venues you play are much better than the ones I do!! There's no sawdust, puke, spilt beer or blood anywhere!
