Has anyone else had trouble with Basschat tonight?
Robbo and his Warlocks are a lovely bunch of guys who are really supporting live music. They will look after you AND your gear and you will have a great time. Money depends on your pulling power andhow many times you've been in/proven yourself...
They are very friendly, though I didn't really want to do it. It was really, really bad weather, and had been forecast all week. The singer wouldn't cancel though, he was a bit scared of waking up with a horses head next to him .

If you are buying from the States... which courier?
Soliloquy replied to warwickhunt's topic in General Discussion
I bought some strings once from the US. Sent by USPS, Royal mail got them this side and charged me £25 plus a handling fee. This may have changed, but it'd still be Royal mail this side of the Atlantic, so I don't think it'll have changed. -

Have the guy take the neck off, and you'll reduce the size, that should bring the price way down. It'll be safe as long as it's well packaged. I bought a Modulus from a guy on Talkbass a few years ago. He did this, and I saved quite a bit. I think it must be because it's a private individual sending the item. My Acme B2 weighs more than a bass. -

I played there with a Paul Rodgers band last year. The money was pretty good, but they'd played there a few times before. I did get my expenses paid though, so that probably made it more worthwhile. It is quite a big room, and the sound is good. The other guy is quite correct in that it's owned by a biker gang, I think they're called the Warlocks. They did look after the band pretty well. There was quite a good crowd too, despite the fact that there was a blizzard raging outside, and the temperature was something like minus 15C.

Try to avoid USPS, it'll be Royal Mail when it gets this side of the Atlantic, they'll keep you waiting for days and days before writing to you to go and collect it. You'll then have to pay import duty, VAT and their fee before they'll release it to you. -
I have my eye on a bass over on TB but the guy has received 3 shipping quotes and the cheapest (to send it in the case which I prefer) is $450... anybody got experience of who to use that is reasonable, as last time I shipped it was UPS but they want $500+
Use Fedex, certain days are cheaper than others. Best to get it collected on a Friday for delivery on a Tuesday. I've bought two Acme cabs from the US in the last four months, one a weighty B2 and recently a B1, I paid about $150 for the B2, and $120 for the B1. Another good thing about Fedex is they bill you later for the import duty and VAT. -

It's in good condition, it's always been in a frame. I've just got bored of it . I bought it from his website years, and years ago. It's been signed by him across the top in silver marker pen. It'll be posted in a proper poster tube, I just bought some new pictures and have one that it'll fit in to. £20 posted.

I have 3 spare if anyone wants one, my basses are too wide for them.

I've been asked by a couple of people what the controls are. The little switches are coil taps, one for each pickup. They're three position, enabling you to switch the humbucker to single coil either front or back of each pick-up. If you see what I mean . So using them combined with the pick-up selector gives you something like 16 different possibilities (I think). The other switch turns the LED's on. The neck measurements are as follows - 42mm at the 1st fret. 53mm at the 12th fret.
Firstly, really sorry to hear of your reasons for selling and I sincerely hope everything works out ok. Secondly, I've had 2 Jaydee Supernaturals but this is the one I always wanted. Mark's Starchild bass blew my mind when I first saw it on the Whistle Test all those years ago and I've wanted one ever since. The two JDs I had were very heavy (12-13lbs) and with my back problems I'd pretty much written them off. If this weighs 9lbs though (right on my limit) I'm kicking myself because at the price you're asking I'd have snapped it up had I not bought another bass a couple of weeks or so ago. Drat and double drat!
Thanks ! The 9lbs is weighed on my bathroom scales, they're not the most accurate, but I don't think we're talking mega inaccuracies. It was totally stripped, and then resprayed, I guess it would have lost a bit of weight then. I know John said the neck was a bit slimmer than a normal MK model. Oh, and a Saturday morning bump .
