1. Well, I am enjoying it, maybe a little too much! I haven't yet hit 3 months since first picking up a bass, and I just purchased my third AND fourth basses today! I just bought a Schecter Blackjack ATX C-5 in 3-tone satin sunburst ***AND*** an Ibanez AEB10E Acoustic-Electric in black. I think my wife is gonna kill me--and I deserve it!!!!
 2. That power supply looks a LOT like the Donner DP-2 that I selected for my pedalboard. It was $50US, but has 6 100mA 9V ports, 2 500mA 9V ports, as well as a 12V and 18V port (both at 500mA). I am using all the ports except the 18V to full effect. For me, it had better specs than the hyped products (VL especially) and at a fraction of the cost. All I had to give up was "true" isolation, which my pedals don't seem to need anyway.
 3. I am still fiddling with mine, but here is my latest pic: PedalTrain Classic 2 (w/ tour case) Bass chain: TU-3(out) to OC-3 to DBBMP [to BeatBuddy] to amp "Fake guitar" chain: TU-3(bypass) to LS-2 to PitchFork to PS-6 to GE-7 to DD-7 to MXR Prime to NS-2 (on amp) to amp
 4.
I never got fond of that style of riding (sit up and beg, that is) but had 25 years of all weather motorcycling before I eventually got a car.
That's funny. Cause I call it the "Hey, I just rode 1000 miles in a day and I can still feel my arms and shoulders!" style of riding. And when my wife is on the back, and I am nestled into that juicy pillow, I almost feel like I'm riding down the road in a lazyboy instead of a fatboy! Yessir, you can keep your shoulder-torture device--I am very happy on my Harley... Having said that, Triumph makes some nice stuff.
i tried a harley fatboy but it wasnt right for me. Too big, too heavy Welcome sir, you'll find its a bit friendler around here than it is on Talk Bass
Well, it is a full-size bike. But the center of gravity is so low that I find it much easier to handle than most other bikes, even most Sportsters, whose higher COG make them much more unwieldy despite being hundreds of pounds lighter. Also, the confidence inherent in that heft, that sound, that look, that torque--well, it makes all the difference going down the road. To each his own, I s'pose! Thanks for the kind welcoming words, all!!!
 5. Yes, and no. I love Harleys yes, but my screen name comes from a love of MY Harley, a 2003 100th Anniversary-Edition Fatboy. It is now somewhat viewable as my profile pic.
 6.
Hi - don't sell the bass, years of regret will follow. Nothing wrong with dreaming - I'm 50+ and just starting to play
Hey! I resemble that remark! But I also agree with it! Now is the time to be LIVING your dreams, not giving up on them!!!
 7. I picked up a bass guitar for the first time a couple months ago (and shortly thereafter purchased my first, the Gretsch G2220 Electromatic). The only other stringed instrument I've ever owned is a cheap and ultimately demoralizing Yamaha acoustic guitar. I'm still in my 40s, but I am a granddad, so I sure *feel* old to be just discovering the bass! I will admit that my primary epiphany to pick up the bass was Mike Kerr of Royal Blood, and that gargantuan sound he makes (hence the Gretsch). But in hindsight, what he mostly did was provide the impetus to look at bass playing in a new light, and realize that the bass guitar was what I've been looking for the whole time. Of course, as is typical for me, when inspiration hits, I go from 0 to 60 in about 3 nanoseconds. So within my first 2 months, I have 2 bass guitars (I recently added a Schecter Blackjack ATX C-4), 3 amps (maybe 4 by this weekend), and a pedalboard filled with pedals... And yes, I set up a split-chain pedalboard, going to both to a bass amp and a guitar amp. Right now, it's more of a distraction than practice, but it sure is a lot of fun! I have a friend who is a very decent self-taught bassist/guitarist, and he tries, but let's just say that mentoring is not his strong suit. So I'm mostly using online lessons, YouTube, and RockSmith 2014 to teach myself. I decided to join basschat because I really like the vibe here. I don't have a lot of historical knowledge or experience, so I will mostly serve as a knowledge-sucker and the noob who is good for the occasional laugh when he says something stupid. Thanks for letting me join!
 8. What a fun thread. Thanks everyone for sharing. I'm brand new to the game and my Schecter Blackjack ATX C-4 isn't even in the same stratosphere, but I sure do love it!
 9. I know this is an old post, so I apologize for reviving it. Well, maybe not apologize, but I at least hope I don't irritate too many folks... I've only tinkered around with guitar, and I'm a complete noob on bass guitar. And Royal Blood as without question the primary impetus that drove my "self-realization" that I really wanted to play bass. I've been listening to them for a couple years, but frankly never realized, until earlier this year, just how unique and awesome it is what Mike Kerr does with a bass. I thought he was using backing tracks, hidden background players, or something! Even seasoned musicians that I introduce to RB don't believe that it is a single bass guitar making all that sound. I listened to the other bands mentioned in this thread (Mongol Hoarde, Graveltones) and although they sound great, they are not even close to RB, imho.
Been a year since I uploaded the first Royal Blood video with fake guitar tone...the video has been seen nearly 70k times which is awesome! Decided to have a go at one more to celebrate, this one being Ten Tonne Skeleton which features heavy use from a Boss PS-6 Harmonist to create a whammy effect. This one is a lot harder to get the tone correct and to make it less articifical sounding but abit of a laugh regardless https://youtu.be/V627aNmhI7w
pitchard, I already subscribe to your youtube channel. Absolutely Inspiring. I wouldn't mind some more detail on your pedalboard setup (especially the PS-6 settings for your "Ten Tonne Skeleton" cover) but I've watched and listened to all your RB covers (and a lot of other stuff now too) and you are very talented. Please keep up the great work!
Royal Blood - Mike Kerr - Pedalboard diagram I've made this pedalboard diagram after watching available videos/pictures/interview... https://creately.com...7Y7k8mab6BhQ%3D
thestratmanblues, thanks for the pedalboard diagram. One of my goals is to emulate the RB sound, and your work is by far the best I've found (and I've looked A LOT!) As you can see, I am slowly building my own split-channel pedalboard...
