1. Essentially not Flea, who do you reckon to be the 'coolest' bassists. By cool I mean those who exude presence onstage with minimal effort and can play demanding basslines without breaking sweat. Kinda like this

2. There was a time in the 80s when there was a flurry of hyper-twee 'indie' pop made by atrocious bands like Prefab Sprout, Fairground Attraction, The Bluebells and Deacon Blue. Among the most irksome pieces of c@ck are ..
Sprout's one that has the line 'hot dogs, jumping frogs, Albuquerque'.
Perfect, sung by that woman who looks like a librarian
Real Gone Kid..plinky keyboards, terrible girly background vocals, cheesy strings (not the kids snackfood)
Young At Heart..I mean this band named themselves after a flower and the song has a bloody fiddle solo
Come on Eileen ..as does this woeful karaoke singalong

3. I don't know how I could have forgotten this but absolutely the most boring song I've ever heard is Stranglehold by Ted Nugent, for my money one of the sh1ttiest 'professional' guitarists I've had the misfortune to hear as well as being an obnoxious right wing bellend. More than half the 8.22 running time is inane noodling over a tedious flanged one note bassline. Utter bilge.

4. Somebody here was commenting that this is a strange topic saying if you and you mrs wanna do summat the other doesnt then do it on your own. Not always possible . I don't want mrs Spiders to have to go to Download on her own. If I let her go on her tod it would hardly be very gallant of me! I'm always willing to give most things a go at least once, which is why I took her to Sonisphere in 2015. I've heard a lot of SOAD and they're not my bag one iota but such is my love for her I will put myself through the impending pain! Anyway, I made her come and see Underworld (the band) with me which she did'nt enjoy at all so I kinda owe her.

5. I've just bought tickets for two for Friday at Download as my missus loves System of A Down and Five Finger Death Punch. While she' s enjoying them I might be sticking kebab skewers in my eardrums. I owe it to her as when we went to Sonisphere a couple of years ago cos she wanted to see Metallica, I lost the will to live by sunday morning and grovelled to her, pleading for us to leave. So, how far have you put yourself out for someone else?.

6. Novelty songs don't bother me one little bit so I cant get upset by Star Trekking, Agadoo, Birdy Song etc. I also can't get too worked up over X Factor fluff, boy bands, Bieber etc as they're usually shortlived and soon forgotten. Nope my loathing is reserved for rock 'classics' that continue to pollute airwaves decades after they were first released. Top of the list; Give It Away & By The Way (RHCP), Don't Stop Believing (Journey), Love Is A Battlefield (Pat Benatar), I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing & Crying & Pink (Aerosmith), Shiny Happy People (REM), Heat of The Moment & Wildest Dreams (Asia), Strutter & Calling Dr Love (Kiss), New Years Day & With Or Without You (U2), You Give Love A Bad Name & Living On A Prayer (Bon Jovi). And one that doesn't quite fit it... Bo Selecta!!

7. I've no shame in admitting I like and still have Limp Bizkit's first three albums and enjoy much derided debut albums from 80s synth poppers like Fashion, Flock of Seagulls, Wang Chung and Re-Flex. I also prefer Metallica's Load and Reload to their thrash stuff and have lots of time for Stone Temple Pilots first three. From the UK 90s the only 'Britpop' album I like is Kula Shaker's debut.

8. One of my fave basslines ever. Dunno why it took me so long to YT it.

10. Ever since I was a teen and 30 years down the line I've still not found a really good bunch of people who wanna play the kind of stuff I do i.e. a mashup of funk, hip hop, world music and electronica with a major emphasis on the party vibe. So I've mostly just depped on and off. Not wholly satisfying but it helps stop you from rusting away

11. I've been playing 6 stringers for 30 years and am teaching my 10 year old daughter and a few others and swear by justinguitar.com. I've checked out many online /You Tube tutors and for my money he's the best, particularly for beginners. They all find his tutorials and books really helpful. He's a Brit too.

12. Cant get my ears around Muse either though the mrs loves them. It's the histrionic vocals that turn me off though the bass work is good.

Often I'll check out a so-called classic with an open mind and ears. Occasionally I'll readily acknowledge something as being good but not my bag. More often than not I'm left thinking Wtf???!!! Most recently I gave Exile On Main Street and the first Led Zep albums each a coupla goes. All I hear, however, is sloppily played, second hand blues jams. The last album I heard which I think deserves its rep, but which isn't my thing at all, is Rumours.

13. Agree with everything mentioned so far plus

OK Computer, Kid A... - one paced, depressing, badly sung barrel scraping bilge
the entire output of the RHCP- one of those bands truly loathe
Appetite for Destruction - 5th rate Aerosmith (who are utter sh1te BTW) chock full of every hair metal cliche already done better by Motley Crue etc
Sergeant Pepper - tedious, sprawling and often twee
Hotel Californiaaaaaarrgh
every acclaimed Stones album - badly sung, messily played, repetitive...
Every rated U2 album - spectacularly mediocre writing and musicianship
all Led Zep - lumpen, stodgy, repetitive, plagiarised
owt by Dylan - wrote some fine tunes........performed by others
