1. The idea of putting together my own bass from parts has got me excited, but I've not done this before so I'm a little unsure. I do my own set ups and have taken files and drills to instruments and put in pickups, but have never built from scratch. I'll start by listing my idea: Maple P-bass body Maple P-bass neck / maple board Badass II bridge (or any other high-mass bridge for sustain and attack) Matched pair humbuckers (passive) (unsure of which to get) Aguilar Opb-3 preamp I have a gibson ripper from 1979 and while it sounds fantastic, I want to build something based on it that looks a but different and has a higher output, maybe with some of the extended high-end shaved off a little. I've also been looking at secondhand basses on here because I'm not sure if I should go ahead and just start throwing parts together. I'm pretty sold on maple as a body wood given the few ones ive owned / tried with it have got 'that maple' sound. All this being said I'm a closet Musicman fan and havnt ruled out going with a used G&L or something similar to a MM. Only issue with a G&L is the necks, which they only replace under warranty and nobody seems to make necks for G&L basses! What do you think? Aharon
 2. Hi guys, I've got a pair of EMG 35 DCs ( 4 string) that are only a couple of weeks old that I think I'm going to pass on. I've got most of the original packaging and I have the wiring sheets etc. One small catch is that out of the two volume and two tone pots that came with it, only the tone pots rotate properly. The volumes work but they're kind of stiff and rotate infinitely. Not a big deal if you already have EMG stuff, or if you dont mind a little stiff/awkward knobs, or if you think you can fix it with a bit of tinkering. The Pickups themselves work great and the tone pots work just fine. The battery wiring has been wired up in series for 18v operation. No soldering required, its all plug and play with EMG! These sell for about £80-90 new each online. I'm asking £90 for the pair (+£5 postage). Will post anywhere in the U.K. I've done business with a few members on the forum now and its been good going so far. Going to put these up on ebay if theres no interest over the next week or so. Thanks!
 3.
Hi Pete, I think you'd need a 2 into 1 jack if you were going to use an Ipod or anything else plugged in at the same time as your bass. It does have a headphone output. Or if you hook the bass pod up to your computer, you can set the bass pod as your sound card via the USB ports and run music from Itunes through it and use the headphone out on the POD and hear the bass and your music.
The POD has an auxillery input for use with mp3 players etc. I run my computer's speaker socket into the auxillery on the POD so i can play along with anything on media player / youtube and drum software like beatcraft etc. These things are the bedroom bass players best friend. I even used to gig with mine. Have a bump on me.

 6. Hello again Bass Chatters, I've got a brand new EMG BTC preamp that has never been used and I also have an EMG 35DC humbucker which has been removed from an old project bass of mine. After abandoning the project I can no longer justify having these sitting around. They are up on ebay at the moment so feel welcome to bid or make a sensible offer. Combined cost of these new is about £200 so I'm looking for at least £100 really. Here is the link so you can have a better look at whats being sold. 7. Hello again Bass chatters, I've got a Boss ODB-3 for sale and it has the box and instructions also. It has only been used at home and is in great condition. At some point I scribbled some prefered settings in green pen on the back of the instruction booklet but that is the only real evidence it has been used before. It is on ebay, but as usual I like to advertise it here too, so feel free to bid or make a sensible offer. New they are around £70 so offers of £30 and upward really. 8. Hello again guys, I've decided to sell my home-use rig because I find myself practicing through my Bass POD Live XT more and more these days. It is a 300w RB4 bass combo sat on top of a 15" external Laney cab; a mini-stack if you will I've used it for gigging just a couple of times and it can hold its own against a drum kit and looks slightly more convincing than a small combo amp. It's pretty easy to lift It is on ebay right now, but as usual I like to advertise it here as well incase any fellow Bass Chatters want first dibs. If you want you can bid or I will accept any 'sensible' offers. Combined cost of the two items new is close to £480 so by 'sensible' I would have to say at least £200. I'm afraid it is local pickup only (cambridgeshire), as it would be a nightmare to post. I've done business with a few Bass Chatters now and it's been a pleasant experience. Feel free to drop in and try it out. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=250418606360 I've also got some EMG pcikups / electronics and a Boss ODB-3 for sale which I will advertise in the resepective sections of the forum. Thank you for your time, Aharon
 9. Hello again all, I have decided against installing this in my new bass and it is now for sale. Everything is in perfect working order and the pickup itself is spotless. The tone, volume pots and input jack that come with it have been proffessionally soldered together already, thus it is ready to jump right into an instrument. Includes a 9v battery but the pickup can be wired to use 18v in series if prefered. Including postage new, these are close to the £100 mark so I thought half price would be fair. If you want you can collect it (Cambridgeshire) or you can use paypal / bank transfer and I will post it to your prefered address. Here is a link to its page on the EMG website: http://www.emginc.com/displayproducts.asp?...mp;catalogid=75 Merry Christmas, Aharon

 13.
What's this active/passive switch? Can you tell me more? Did you fit it yourself or did it come as standard with the bass? Is there any sound difference when passive and active? Thanks
Hello, It came with the bass when I got it off Sean.Robinson (fellow bass chatter) and it came standard when he bought it (must be less than a year ago). The switch basically bypasses the active preamp (the MM pickup itself is passive). The difference in tone depends entirely on what you dialed in on the preamp. Generally speaking it is very subtle and its main purpose is either for when your battery runs out or you could use it as a 'boost / eq' pedal by heavily adjusting the preamp controls. Turning it on/off simply involves pulling the volume knob in/out. Personally I didnt use it at all because the battery life is very good and I never needed it. Hope this helps! Aharon
 14.
is it still for sale? how about cash £500 and ill pick it up from you? if interested send email to [email protected] as long as it looks like the pics and in the condition stated. These are hard times, and maybe a year ago i could have done the full £650! If the offer is too low for you, its cool, but its all i would be willing to pay. Regards, Rich.
Sorry rich, I dont think £500 is reasonable enough. It has already gone down from £650 to £600. I understand times are hard but hopefully things get better soon! Aharon

 16.
good call, the SR 500 range are superb basses for feel weight playability and sound choices. the BTB have a different pickup and eq to the SR500's MK1 pickup and MK1-4 eq.
I've been looking at pimping out a mid-priced Ibanez. I play with a pick a lot and im concerned about the narrow string spacing though Aharon
 17. Is now on ebay.... Come on guys, I'd rather one of you have it. Keep it in the family and all that! At least make me a sensible offer
 18. I am interested in doing this. Couple of questions. Can warmoth make neck-thrus? also, in regard to the nut, were you able to just drop one in or do you have to chisel out a pocket for one first? Also is it easy to align a bridge with the neck? or is this more aof a science than I think? cheers, Aharon
 19. Anyone tried one of these? Looks similar to the spector bridges. Bigger than a badass and presumably heavier? Do they work? Which model basses are they drop-in replacements for, if any? Aharon

 21.
I think im starting to get an itch for an MM after years of being a little indifferent to them. Ill be in touch if I can work out the funds. Thats exactly the colours I was looking for.
It's exactly the colours I was looking for too, I'll be sad to see it go. Please do get in touch! Aharon.
 22.
Hi Aharon - this is an edit of your first photograph with the Stingray on the bed. Cheers.
WoW. Looks almost as good as it does in real life Thanks for that Andrew, One thing im definately going to miss is the way she looks. I'll be lucky to find a body shape / neck / colour combo i like as much as this. Surely somebody out there wants a slice of this?
 23.
sounds like its just been modded for the pull switch on the volume knob, original preamp
Indeed you are correct, all the electronics are original. MM pickup, MM preamp etc. I was going to throw an EMG in there at one point but thats another story....
