1. Perfect guys! That's all I needed to know :-)
2. Hi All, Quick and simple one I hope. Markbass LM3 800 into one 8Ohm Traveller Cab. The head outputs 500W at 8Ohm. Will this be okay? Thanks, C
3. Looking forward to the full review! So how many watts do you get out of that with just the one Barefaced One10 cab? ^
4. Thought this thread was dying only to check this morning with more advice. Cheers folks!
5. That's it then. Combo and possibly extension cab at later date. Thanks everyone!!!
6. Wow! That's a lot of equipment coming and going. So your opinion is the combo and possibly extra can when I need it?
7. The LM||| does look like a great option. Regarding flexibility both options offer similar outcomes. For rehearsal I would only need the combo rather than taking a separate head and cab. Then to max out at 500W I would just buy the extra cab. With the LM||| I would have the head, a cab and then another cab to max it out at 500W. The cost of the domino cab would be considerably less also. So far it appears the combo cab is the best option. The only thing that would probably sway me is the 2 x 10 rather than having the one bass speaker with the combo. Would there be much difference? Cheers again.
8. Cheers Lozz! Yeah, it sounds like a great setup. I would just begrudge spending the money on an expensive product that needs remedied in such a fashion. It's just awkward because no one near here stocks the amp. It may not bother me at all, like a lot of other people :-)
9. Hi, About to take the plunge on a Markbass amp. 500W is more than I will need so looking at the 121 combo or the Markbass 3 Head and Cab. Now, just a bit of advice. I know the combo uses the Markbass 3 head Markbass 3 Head (500W) - £390 Traveller 102 4 Ohm - £384 Traveller 102 8 Ohm - £349 (Not sure what wattage I would get out of each of the Travellers as both 4Ohm and 8Ohm state that they provide 400W) Markbass 121 Combo (300W) - £588 Markbass 121 Cab (Added, allows 500W) - £359 So, there is a bit of a price difference. Initially I will be jamming/rehearsing so the the 300W of the combo will be fine and if need be I can add the cab later. With the Head I would prob prefer owning an 8Ohm cab as it means I could add another to get the full 500W if need be. That would increase the cost, by quite a bit. Finally, there were concerns from users that the tweeter on the Combo was annoying. It's quite divided opinion as a lot of people swear by this little amp. Any advice welcomed :-) Thanks, C

11. Sound City! There is a word that rhymes with the second word of the brand that accurately describes it. https://ssli.ebayimg...JWxzll/$_86.JPG
12. Got a screw sorted, so now, just to pick up a washer.
13. Hi all, I need a tuning key screw for my '78 musicmaster bass. Wondering if anyone has a spare? Bit of a long shot. If not would a normal fender bass tuning key screw fit and did they change the gauge, length at any time between the 70's til now? Trying to keep it cheap so not have to buy the whole tuning key, just the screw :-) If need be I would purchase the whole tuning key. Cheers!!!!!
14. I have yet to purchase my Markbass amp but when I tested out a few amps the filters really sold it for me. Really worked for my bass as it just provided the tone I was looking for with little tweaking.
15. Great. Thanks again Stylon. Due to cost I may have to go for the Markbass Little Mark III. Same output as the Big Bang but much cheaper. Going to have to sacrifice the headphone out. Hopefully I can tone it down low enough for practicing in the house :-)
16. Thanks Paul S. Never came across those 2 combos. Perfect wattage/features for what I need now. Will read up about them and see more reviews. Thanks Stylon. Starting to make sense. Assume that the Big Bang would automatically know what type of cab is plugged in and output the according wattage?
17. Thanks Lw!!! Going to change the topic slightly here so I can get to grips with amp heads and cabs. If I were to take the plunge with the Markbass Big Head I need to get a cab so size wise the The Traveler 102P is perfect. Here is were my brain melts... The head outputs are 500W RMS @ 4 ohm, 300W RMS @ 8 ohm. I think I would just need to get the 8ohm cab for the time being and if things go well I could add an extra cab. Now, the head outputs 300W but and the cab's power handling is 400W RMS (AES Standard). I am assuming this will cope fine and I would need the 8 ohm (T102P-8) version? Does the head know that I am plugged into an 8ohm cab automatically? I am also assuming this is a 400W cab for using 2 with an 800W head but it will be fine with the 300W output of the Big Bang? I am total newbie to amps and cabs and will be reading up more about it later :-) Apologies if this has been asked a thousand times before.
18. Thanks for the advice so far. The TC electronic second hand does indeed look good on paper. Belfast is a bit crap when it comes to bass amps ie. few are stocked, so I don't get to try out that many. People say that TC are new to the bass game so bit wary of that. Will read up on a few reviews. What about one of these, http://www.markbass....etail.php?id=37 and a decent head with aux in/headphones? 400w would get me buy for a good while. I looked at the Markbass heads and only the Big Bang has headphones in :-(
19. Okay...here goes. Wanting to pick up a bass amp which I can be buried in (One that will last me a lifetime and cover most scenarios eg home practice/rehearsals/gigging, although gigging may be a bit off yet. "Being buried in" statement does not reflect the size of amp I would like. :-) I will be playing with a drummer, guitarist and synths. It could evolve around rock/jazz/krautrock. This is a summary of what I believe I would need: 1. Home practice (Aux in/Headphone out for quiet practice 2. Relatively small amp (subjective) I live in a very small house 3. Wattage/Loudness to cover most scenarios. Will be rehearsing mostly. All going well we may start to gig. 4. I play a passive bass and don't hit the stings too hard (fingerstyle, very little slap, if any) My budget could go up to £600 at a stretch. I did look at and play a Markbass Minimark 802 and it was just fantastic. Perfect size too but I feel it may not have the headroom for playing over drums and guitar/synths? (150w). I know you could buy an extension cab but would rather keep everything minimal and it is a huge cost when compared to say an Ampeg BA 210 etc. I have played through a Fender Rumble and Orange amp so far. They were not great. Only really came to this conclusion after playing the Markbass (it was tight sounding). The rumble was muddy and the orange a bit too growly even with gain turned down. Open to both combos and head/cabs although the latter confuses me slightly :-) Your help is much appreciated and if there is anything else you need to know to help in sourcing this amp please let me know!!!!!
20. Cheers! I will be posting a help request on the Amps/Cabs page soon for a bit of advice and yes, hopefully I continue to play. Could be a mid-life crisis...hopefully not :-)
21. Hi folks, Belfast based bassist here. Used to play in a band, quit playing bass for 10 years and just decided to get back into it again. Got myself a short scale bass which I love playing. Wanting to get an amp now as I currently just pick the bass up now and again in the living room, jamming to Eastenders and Home and Away (joke), but I do literally just pick it up, with no amp and play about.
