Mostly to show off the bulge in my trousers.

Or to hide the groinal area when wearing pale jeans and having a last minute piss. (Just in case)
Awesome tips (no pun...), keep em comin!

  2. +1 to obbm's stuff

top quality leads, gonna put an order for some patch leads in myself next payday. last lot i got were excellent quality
maplins do pretty good leads for £2.50 each though if you're really strapped for cash

  3.
The Belcat Delay is surprisingly good, too. I also used to have the Biyang fuzz pedal - it's basically a Big Muff with some interesting clipping mods - you can change one pair of diodes for LEDs with a switch.
Quite interested in getting one of the fuzz pedals, not seen em before. Like this?:

Do they handle the lows well?
I'm getting a bit annoyed with my noisy big muff!

  4.
The thing with Nathan East from what I've read is that he likes to take advantage of his high profile by taking the mickey and blagging loads of free stuff.
Disgusting behaviour! I would never do that! :)

  5. I've just found out wilkos do decent sticky-backed velcro, looked last night and it's £1.99 for 1m of both sides. I use standard stuff from ebay and it holds really well as long as the underside of the pedal is clean.

Another trick i use with boss pedals is to stick 2 strips of velcro between the rubber. You still get purchase on the velcro but can use it out of the pedalboard too. Good if you want to sell the pedal later!

On my wah (jim dunlop) i took the battery cover off and reversed the backplate, sticking the velcro to the underside instead of mucking up the back cover.

Oh yeah, some little strips of standard velcro to hold your power leads in place. I can send you some if you like, i've got loads at home.

Also (RE the last question) i assume (probably wrong then!) that any 9v cable will fit? I use different ones with my Dinosaur power pack and they're fine. If you find some cheaper ones let me know!
Diago also do adapter cables for weirder power/jack requirements if needs be

  6.
its like right near wigan lol iv only seen one bass chatter that lives near me everyone else is from down south lol
Oi i'm in Blackpool (well, just outside Blackpool in a completely non-scum area!)

    £300? Winner!

  8.
Aargh!

I want an XO PolyChorus. And an XO Deluxe Memory Man. That would make the EHX range perfect.

Do these new models run off 9V? My big problem with a lot of old EHX pedals is that you need a different power supply for each one.
Diago do leads for most pedals including the EHX pedals with the tiny jacks and different power requirements (usa big muff, 18v and black big muff etc.). Not cheap but convenient. I guess you could have some made up? My local electronics shop does stuff like that as i know a guy who works there, they don't like doin it though as it's not worth the mate's rate's i pay em!

  9. Not had that problem but had one set of LaBella strings where the core of the E arrived damaged so the string sounded rubbish. At first they asked me to return it but after stressing i had a gig in 2 days they sent me a replacement.
Then had an E string from a set of Warwick strings break (at the bridge) whilst tuning it up for the first time, wasn't even up to the required pitch.
Then (i know...) i bought some Elites from them and the bottom 40cm of the strings were slightly rusted.

Having whinged i must say i ordered quite regularly from them, but 3 mishaps sort of put me off a bit.
The first two incidents suggest they sell below par strings, the third makes me think they'd been lying around in a damp warehouse for a few weeks proir to being shipped

  10.
ive had those times too that ppl thought i was gay (not in gigs though)...

i kinda do look a bit feminine...

here's an old pic of mine where i looked like some gay anime character... either that, or james iha *lol*

Before i scrolled down and read the rest of the post i thought that WAS James Iha! Don't own a dog called Bug do you?

  11. I had the same problem with my Warwick Corvette. Not too bad for the odd little bit but for when we needed a slap line in a bass-dominated tune (can't stop by the chilis etc.) it was unworkable. I solved it easily by using the eq switch on my old Hartke VXL pedal which boosted the signal. Since selling that i've bought a clean boost (from this site) which is even better, plus i can use it for other stuff where the bass needs to be more prominent.

Your first port of call should be having quiet word with the sound guy, a bass light mix is just not on!

EDIT: Just a thought, i remember my corvette had a very low output for an active bass, was the standard 2 band MEC circuit. Didn't have the same problem with a MM SUB bass i used when my warwick was in the shop. Might be typical of the circuit?

  12. Had the same problem with my diago board. Was thinking about making a wooden riser for the two pedals affected as stated above but couldn't be bothered, so ordered some leads with right angle jacks from obbm, just lift the pedals up a bit when i plug em in or position the pedals so there's enough room to insert the jacks

Seems like a design flaw on an otherwise top pedal board

  13. I'd stay away from the Squier affinity series and look for the standard ones, better quality all round, esp the pickups. I tried a Squier affinity jazz and it was ugh

I'm sellin mine if you fancy it, £130 plus case
