1. I did some research and I sent an email to the MusicSon company, no replies though. There's really little information about this cab. Tomorrow I'll take my Orange Bass Terror and I'll try it, I don't know if it even works. Honestly, I think I'm not going to bring it home... If it's not a very good cabinet, there really isn't much use I'm going to give to it, and even with a low price such as 80€, I don't think it's worth it. I'm saying this without trying it, maybe tomorrow I'll change my mind Thanks a lot for the enlightenment, pikeman
2. Ahahaha, it's awesome unfortunately, even the wattage isn't mentioned anywhere. I'm afraid to plug my Mesa M-Pulse 600 to this cab and immediately blow the speakers! This can happen, right?
3. Has anyone seen one of these before? I came across this cabinet in a second-hand store, and the owner is asking only 80€ for it. I'm going to try it next monday, but I'd like to know if this is something of value, since I'm not interested in having something this big at home if it's not useful. I does look very nice and vintage, but I've never seen anything like it before. Also, how does a double bass cabinet sound using an electric bass? Thanks a lot
4. Hey there!! Can someone help identifying this amazing effect on Rachelle Ferrell's Sista song? Grrrr, it sounds so good!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdtwon67Uqg Thanks, Pedro
5. So, I actually tried the bass and it sounds awesome. Took it home right away The only thing not originally from 76 are the tuners, which didn't work anymore. The replacements are Rickenbacker's tuners. Yes, I could notice that problem with the G string... is there any way that can be fixed? Today I put it next to a not repaired Rickenbacker 4001 and they look exactly the same, so I'm not worried anymore of it being a fake. I can't say the refinish is 100% awesome, but you really can't notice any difference 1 meter away, and it sounds so awesome! For me that's the most important thing, it didn't lose any of its Rick sound and vibe. Right now I'm trying to figure the best tone for playing some McCartney bass lines, it seems to start "growling" very easily, which I like, but I wonder that McCartney did to control this. I wonder if it's simply a difference between roundwound and flatwound strings...
6. I'm gonna give it a try this saturday, it sure looks awesome! Come on, rickenbacker guys, I'm desperately needing some help
7. Hey there, folks! I came across with an opportunity to buy a '76 Rickenbacker, but I'm having second thoughts, since, as the owner says it has been "carefully rebuilt w/100% originals. Chrome hardware redone in Italy, new tuners and PU's checked by a rickenbacker professional tech." So everything is original besides the tuners. How much do you think is a fair value for this bass? Let me show you some pics. The price he's asking is 1375€, around 1100gbp. Thanks a lot for the help!
8. That's bad news are these amps that fragile? It's portability is awesome, but if it's so risky to travel with it, it loses some of its usefulness... What are your thoughts on this matter?
9. Music Store traded the faulty one for a new one! I received it this week and tried it at the rehearsal of my R&B/Soul band with a Jazz Bass. Man, it was heaven!! I'm so glad I decided to buy this amp!
10. Back on sale! I will add some more pics soon!
11.
How is this panning out - still problems? Cheers Geoff
I'm sending it back to MusicStore this week, and probably will get another one... It's really frustrating
12. People, I need some serious help I came home so I could finally play my OBT for more than 10 minutes straight, and after 30 seconds it just died. The light was gone and the amp shut himself down... When I try to put it on, I hear really tiny and periodic snaps, as if it's trying to come alive. Has this happened to you before? Grrr, I don't believe this happened in less than 24hours, the amp hasn't been touched since yesterday...
13.
How anybody can say thy don't like the sound of these little beasts is beyond me! .. or perhaps they haven't tried one with a fender p with flats on!
I totally agree! It's the perfect match!!
14. My Bass Terror arrived today, finally, along with a SP212 cab. Until this moment, all I can say is that I'm more than happy with the sound I'm getting from it!! I'm simply addicted. I tested it with a Fender PBass (flatwound strings) and it sounds so vintage and mellow! The ultimate test will be in a rehearsal, tomorrow, but I'm sure it will do fine. The output is amazing when you look at the size of the cab+head. I'll probably change the valves in a few weeks, though, as I believe it will sound more defined, particularly in the low end. For the price it costs it's a total bargain, I'm so glad I bought it!!
15.
Ha ha, Just moved from a rock band into a funk / soul band and chucked some flats on my P. The amp sounds fantastic, it is such a pure tone that comes out, it's really deep but never muddy (unless you crank the gain) having said that the highs sing out as well .. I played with an old ampeg v4b for years and this is the only amp which has come close. I've just ordered http://www.ebay.co.u...49#ht_500wt_951 to stick in as once we're gigging I'm hoping that'l give me a little more clean headroom. That said the stock valves only get a little gritty around 9 on the gain .. with that I never got the volume above 12 o'clock and that was without usually being di'd and in a LOUD rock band! What cab are you planning on using with the head?
I bought a SP212 along with the OBT. Besides that one, I've got a Gallien Krueger SBX410 or a Mesa Powerhouse 6x10, if I need more power ;-)
16. God, why is it taking so long to arrive!?!?
17. Does anyone use the OBT for Funk/Soul/R&B stuff? The reviews of this amp are always concerning rock/metal, but I wonder how it handles that styles of music. I'm hoping it will blow my mind with an old Precision with the right flats on it!
18. Someone added a J-pickup to my Fender Am. Precision Bass '62 (was already there when I bought it) and I always turn down the volume completely. It really adds a lot to the sound, but I believe that's not what you want when you buy a Precision. And it looks so cool without the J-pickup... Obviously, this is only my opinion
19. I love it! It's my main bass. It has a super comfortable and fast neck, imo. The sound is simply killer, full of mojo and vintage vibe! Couldn't recommend it more, since it definitely is my favorite bass. Here's a link of me playing I Want You Back - Jackson 5 with the JB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29uCE8RhXlw&list=UUpgAairAa3AGSwGWUGE7VQg&index=1&feature=plcp

Hello!!

I already started posting, but I believe I should say hello to all of you! My name is Pedro and I'm from Porto, Portugal (I'm a SL Benfica fan, 'though ). I play in some bands which go from Funk/Soul to Rock (Soulrichard, The Happy Mothers...). Here's my bass gear (the Orange amp will only arrive at the end of next week): - Fender Am. Vintage Jazz Bass '62 - Fender Am. Vintage Precision Bass '62 - Gretsch Broadkaster Bass - Mesa M-Pulse 600 - Mesa Powerhouse 6x10 - Gallien Krueger SBX 4x10 - Orange Bass Terror 500 - Orange SP212 I don't know as much as I should about technical specs of bass gear, although I love all the stuff I've got (just because they sound good to me). That's why I enjoy basschat, I'm learning a lot!!! Cheers!!
21. I did get it, in the end, but it didn't satisfy me very much... Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice and well built bass, and the goldtop finish is stunningly beautiful! The thing is, aside from the weight (which didn't really bother me - what I really care about is the tone/sound), it just didn't cut the mix as it should. I realized this at the soundcheck of a gig, when after trying all different eq settings in my M-Pulse 600, just gave up and tried to plug my Fender Jazz Bass. The difference was so big!! I had a monster tone right away... That's when I decided to return it. Maybe I'm just another type of bass guy!
22. Ehehe, i totally understand you... I was GASing one of these for so long, I don't even know what it feels to get to a concert without the major back pain
