1. Later one of these with the banana headstock (and appropriately yellow body colo[s]u[/s]r) for sale in the Lone Star State for $500 . . .

    http://www.ebay.co.u...YYAAOSwUdlWgxHr

    . . . 18 people watching it. They probably can’t believe what they’re seeing!

  2. In my quest to "light-size" I pounced on this baby when it came up for sale at Bass Direct in July last year. It's still shown on Mark's website under SOLD.

    Weight is 3.4 kg (7 1/2 lbs)

Unfortunately I haven't warmed to it and it's only been out of it's gig bag in the house a couple of times since. Marry in haste, repent at leisure and all that.

Based on recent discussions about hard core aging I hesitate to describe it as mint but it is exactly that.

I'll not replicate the full spec on here as it's widely available elsewhere on the www.

It comes with original Sandberg gig bag, some loose allen keys, the hang tag booklet, the instruction bit of paper on which they sign the final check and the receipt dated 25/07/2015 for £1075.

I live where North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lancashire meet. You are welcome to visit for a try (if you don't mind dogs). I also travel round the north quite a bit.

I'll put some photos up later.

PS I would really like a sale but I would consider a p-bass in part exchange if it were the same weight or lighter.

  3. Even if the band leader was a waxy faced, glorified pub pianist*, I don't suppose it's a gig too many of us would have turned down?

    * quote attributed to one John Joseph Wardle

  4. "They are well made little basses and I think they good."
(Recent quote found on an internet forum)

PS. Trying to date the bass more accurately from the mixed bag of information out there - it could be nearer late 80s than early 90s. The headstock changed over the years from this one with different writing, through this one to one they call the "banana" shape.

    Hi what's the controls? Thanks
Hi. It has a 3-way pick-up selector switch - towards bridge = j, middle = both, towards neck = p. Then one volume pot (nearest neck), the one I had replaced, and two tones - one for each pup.

I wouldn't like the neck of this one, but thanks for the pic of the bridge - it looks as if it might be the answer to my question about my Kramer The Duke http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1. Ta :)

The neck is the best bit :) ! Happy to have been of help though.

  6. This has been my number one choice of spare bass for the last 8 years but I'm moving to lighter gear so this has sadly moved down the rankings.

    Weight is 4.2 kg (9 1/4 lbs)

Everyone that picks it up says what a great bass it is but they're rarely heard of this side of the pond (only 4 hits on this forum). And in the US of States, Mum's apple tart and chocolate chip biscuits, everyone talks highly of them but you can't give them away. Which is a shame because they're a quality product.

I'll tell you what I know, mostly gathered from internet research (you can probably research better): Early 90s, Korean made. That's about it.

It has a good old-fashioned thick and wide p-bass type neck. P pick-ups are great I've even had it growling like a P. J doesn't add much in my opinion, you might think different.

I've just had the volume pot replaced and a light set up done by Matt at Music Cellar in Preston - great job. I've still got the original pot if you want it, but it's shot.

Reasonably recent set of RS66LCs on it, you may prefer, and it may well suit, heavier. Dings a-plenty, as befits its age, mostly on the back of the body. And mostly from before I got it.

I think £150 is very fair. Photo:

I'm located in the beautiful Aire Valley and travel round the north of the UK quite a bit.

A bizarre dog-walking accident? Very Spinal Tap...
Thank you. I have to admit to pinching that from Arthur Lee who lost his hair in a bizarre hairdressing accident!

  8. Hi
I've been lurking here for a while and been impressed with the helpful and encouraging responses everyone invariably gets to their posts. So I've plucked up courage to register myself.
I've been out of bass-playing action for almost 7 years, a combination of breaking my arm in a bizarre dog-walking accident, losing my permanent job and having to contract away from home.
Things have settled down now on both fronts and I've recently joined a soul/funk band playing not all the usual stuff. Really great fun and a friendly bunch. I'm enjoying playing as much as I ever have.
I do have one issue though, my basses are now too heavy for me. They all weigh in at the just over 9lbs (just over 4kg) mark. I can see I'm going to be spending a lot of time in the Market Place!
